Guestbook comments from the owner

"We have had a fantastic time staying in your farmhouse. The house itself was perfect and the surrounding countryside so relaxing; we loved the rolling hills and fields. The children have enjoyed having, sheep, cows, chickens and ducks so close. The goats are a fond memory as is the delight of seeing a calf a few hours old. Also watching the bats swooping overhead in the twilight hours."

"The location is perfect. We’ve explored in every direction, Mont St Michel, Bayeux, Suisse Normand, beaches, everywhere! We’ll certainly recommend the farmhouse to friends, and we’ll be back!"

- Sonya, Juliana and Elliot Christianson, Chester UK

"A real family house - plenty of room, very comfortable. Lots to see and do. Had a wonderful time. Still much left to discover"

Beautiful Farmhouse that felt like home

  • 5 of 5

We arrived after an 8 hour drive not knowing what to expect other than the lovely pictures and directions Nigel had provided. The photographs don't actually to the property justice. Its a little peace of heaven and for two weeks it was a home from home.

The light airiness of the house hits you immediately and the space is amazing. The pre advice from Adele and Nigel was very helpful it made settling in easier.

We ventured in to Villedieu Les Poeles as its the local biggest town with a lovely market on a Tuesday which you park on the outside and walk in. aprox 5 minute walk. You can walk around and purchase delicious veg and fruit and of course try one of the many Boulangerie that Villiedieu has to offer.

We ventured out a few days and came across the Abbey at Hambye. Well worth a visit. Granville and Saint Pair Sur Mer are under a 30 minute drive which offer lovely beaches and warm sea to play in. On the days we didn't venture out Nigel's game rooms kept the children happy and there were plenty of books and films to choose from when needed.

We would definitely recommend booking and we would love to book two weeks next year Nigel!!

A Fantastic Farmhouse in peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with relatives from Australia and what an amazing property to stay in, extremely comfortable, great facilities and lots of space in a lovely peaceful location, The nearest large town Villedieu Les Poeles is only 10 minutes drive away, the nearest beaches are a short 30 minutes drive, the house is in a great location to explore Normandy with easy access to Mont St Michel, Bayeux and Coutances. Nigel the owner and Adele in France were both very helpful and nothing was to much trouble, I would highly recommend this property and hope to return for a future holiday.

Great house, great facilities

  • 5 of 5

Five of us just stayed here for a week over the New Year - 2 adults, 2 children and a grandparent....and we could easily have fitted in more. Lovely big house, kids ran around everywhere, and we all appreciated the games room(s). Great heating, very warm in winter. Usable and working WLAN Internet was VERY welcome. Well equipped kitchen with big country dining table - every meal was a family event using local and fresh food (check out the local Tuesday market). Visited Bayeux, Normandy beaches, war cemeteries, Mont de St Michel...all within easy reach. Nigel (owner) was regularly in contact with directions, recommended shop opening hours, etc. Recommended!

Well equipped house

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here with our three children. Nigel (the owner) was friendly and answered all the questions I had. The house was clean and well equipped (especially the kitchen) and had everything we needed. The table tennis, table football and pool table were great to use. The three bathrooms were clean and modern. The three bedrooms were comfortable and had nice bed linen. It was useful to have the utility room to dry clothes in. The house had plenty of indoor and outdoor space, including an enclosed garden with plums and apples (we were too late for some of the other fruit). When it was sunny, we enjoyed sitting on the terrace and having our tea outside. The nearest small bakery is in the cafe in Montbray (5 min drive) and there are other shops about 15 min drive away. The roads in the area are very quiet and I would recommended staying in this house.

Home from home

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we arrived we felt completely at home and couldn't have wished for any more. The rooms are very comfortable and very well kitted out, all bathrooms were to a high spec with plenty of hot water to go around. Everything you would need in the kitchen which made meals using local ingredients a pleasure. Surrounding countryside is beautiful and towns within easy reach, as was the beach (when the sun came out!) Would go back without hesitation, Nigel the owner has thought of everything!

Ideal spacious accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Owner was extremely helpful when making the booking and answering enquiries.

Accommodation itself was very spacious and very well equipped - plenty of plates, cutlery etc which is a real plus. We made lots of use of the pool table, table tennis and boules and, as we had good weather, the garden furniture. The outhouses were ideal for storing bikes and the network of roads in the area were great for cycling. Lots of places to visit well within an hour's drive of the property. An ideal holiday location.

The nearest beach is a half hour drive (down a straight Roman-built road, you can almost take your hands off the wheel - look at the map!) to Granville where there's a great beach.

Another wonderful sandy beach can be found at St. Pere sur Mere (turn left just before Granville) where a large stone built swimming pool holds the seawater to warm in the summer sunshine when the tide goes out many hundreds of metres.

Both these beaches have a life-guard post.
