About Joy Trakkas

I live in Newcastle in the picturesque village of Tynemouth with my Greek husband and 3 daughters.

We are sun worshippers and don't get enough of it in Tynemouth, as beautiful as it is.

Rhodes makes up for that!

Joy Trakkas purchased this villa in 2009

Why Joy Trakkas chose Gennadi

We fell in love with the island of Rhodes, having visited friends and family there and decided to have our own property in the South of the island as it is extremely beautiful and unspoilt, but not remote!

What makes this villa unique

The highlights of the villas has to be the tranquillity of the site, whilst accessibility to shops, tavernas, beaches and water sports is convenient.

The glittering stars in the night sky are something truly unique here, and to sit on the upper veranda sipping an early evening glass of local champagne gazing at them is indescribably magical.

The panoramic view of Gennadi Bay beyond the little white washed church of St. Raphael is awe inspiring. Early morning sun rises are an experience not to be missed!

Notes on accommodation: Villas Sophie, Nicole and Phoebe are nestled beautifully on the hillside over-looking Gennadi Bay. The trio lie in private grounds, accessible by private track. This creates a sense of relaxation and privacy, unachievable by mainstream resorts. With the extensive pergolas, generous-sized pools and roomy outdoor spaces, these villas are the perfect accommodation for a relaxed and luxurious holiday on the captivating island of Rhodes. Large enough to accommodate families of 5, with the living room playing host to the villas comfortable sofa-beds, a couple of minutes drive from the sun-kissed beach and alluring village of Gennadi, this trio of villas provide the ultimate family holiday. The village and bay of Gennadi are approximately a mile from the villas, hiring of a car would be recommended to take advantage of what this area has to offer. Outside: Complete with all the outdoor essentials– attractive barbeque, dining table and chairs, sun loungers and parasol, guests can sunbathe by day and dine alfresco by night. The spacious outdoor and pergola areas make for the perfect setting for family barbeques whilst watching the sun drop gently over Gennadi Bay. Child-friendly as each villa has gates to the grounds, also no villa is overlooked by the neighbours.

This was a second visit to the villa in less than a year

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time again! The villa was very clean and tidy and we even noted some improvement to the decor and the detail of the property. Total relaxation here private and secluded despite being in a row of four villas not overlooked and you are far away from the main road you are not disturbed by traffic and we didn't even see an aeroplane in ten days! If you want a completely relaxing holiday in Rhodes close enough to shops and restaurants to walk but a car is definitely a must. The owners Joy and Kostas offer a lot of information and are always seemingly on hand if you have any questions or queries! Book villa Nicole or either of the other two we have seen them all sit back on your private terrace opposite your secluded pool and admire the views of the beautiful sea or the hills behind the property on the roof terrace for sundowners is a must. Thanks Joy and Kostas see you next year?

Villa Nicole -September 16

  • 4 of 5

Fabulously private and secluded.

What the villa lacked in luxury, it certainly made up for it in privacy.

Any small issues were addressed immediately by the very attentive and friendly owner. Joy is amazing.

Beautiful views. Clean and as described. Certainly would return for some tranquility.

Car essential, with lots to see and do.

Highly recommend.

Ps: don't bother packing too many clothes, you'll not need them 😜򗀊

Gorgeous Villa, Wonderful Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a last minute getaway, relaxing holiday somewhere on a Greek Island for a week in June. We came across Villa Nicole on Owners Direct website and took an immediate liking to 1) the uninterrupted views of the bay from the villa and 2) the huge pool in front of the villa. Further photos of the Villa and Joy, the owners write up of the area confirmed this was just what we were looking for.

The booking process went through smoothly and Joy even arranged car hire for us with the very reasonably priced local car rental company. We also received e/mailed details of driving directions to the Villa, which were very easy to follow and a brilliant guide to Gennadi and Rhodes with superb recommendations of places to eat and visit.

When we arrived at the villa we were not disappointed. It was wonderful and the views amazing. Everything was clean and tidy and comfortable and had everything you needed. The pool was as lovey and as big as it looked in the photos too. Whilst there are 4 villas on the hillside none are overlooked and so it actually feels like you are the only villa there. The area is quiet and relaxing and the stars really do shine extraordinarily bright at night.

We were so glad we hired a car as we got to see the whole island, driving in Rhode is very easy and everything is well signposted. We loved Lindos, which is only a 20 minute drive away and with plenty of parking directly outside the main town area, popping to Lindos was easy. Would definitely recommend a car as the Island is beautiful and quite different one side to the other.

It was lovely to meet Joys husband whilst we were there and a huge thank you for the very large container of cherries. They were delicious.

Gennadi village is a 10 minute drive away and has everything you need for your stay and a visit to the bakery is a must! We loved Stefano restaurant and Mamas Kitchen as recommended and both got a second visit.

Gorgeous villa, lovely Island and 7 days of sun, a truly wonderful holiday. We will be back.

Julie & Chris x

The lovely Nicole

  • 5 of 5

Villa Nicole is a very clean and well maintained villa on the outskirts of Ganadi, it has excellent views over the surrounding countryside to the sea. The villa is well equipt and comfortable, the pool is a good size and cleaned twice weekly.

The village of Ganadi is close by and has all services you will need super market chemist baker etc, there are also many good restaurants in the village or just a short drive away

A car is essential

I have visited these villas 4 times and always enjoyed the tranquil surroundings an ideal place to unwind

Car: recommended

Gennadi Bay has a blue flag award with a distance of 2 minutes by car, from the villas. It has very clear, warm water with shingle and pebbles and is never spoilt by crowds of people. It boasts 3 good tavernas for tasty meals and refreshments. Kiotari is 4km away and has sandy beaches, good tavernas, great bars and glass-bottomed boats. Prassonissi is 20km away and has fantastic facilities for all water sports.

Diagoras International Airport is 45 minutes away by car (roughly 60kms) as is the infamous Old Town of Rhodes. It is possible to hire taxis from the airport, with a cost of about 70 euros. Buses are also available, however it is recommended to hire a car in order to make the most of your stay.

Gennadi Bay and village are 1 mile away, and Lindos, with its sandy beaches and medieval Acropolis is 25km North (15 mins by car)- the unique and beautiful Old Town is 65km North. Traditional Rhodian villages, Vati, Lahania, Pefkos and Lardos are all in the very near vicinity.

Further Details:

Prassonissi (where the Aegean sea meets the Mediterranean sea) with its wonderful refreshing sea-breezes, makes for excellent wind/kite surfing and is only a 20 minute drive away.

In the village of Gennadi, there is an excellent bakery, pharmacist, green grocer and small supermarket. There are numerous tavernas serving local fayre, Mama's Kitchen being a firm favourite, there are beach front tavernas also serving good quality, local cuisine, and drinks.

The West Coast of the island boasts many interesting places to visit from the ruins of a castle at Kastello near Kritinia, to the castle at Monolithos, steeped in romanticism set on top of a rock. The jewel in the crown has to be the Old Town, 45 minutes drive away, with its wonderful history from ancient Greece, Byzantine, Turkish mosques to the Knights of Saint John and medieval Christian churches.
