About the property

Cottage in Sannox, Isle of Arran, Strathclyde, Scotland - Peaceful Location, 2 Minutes Walk To The Golf Course Or Beach Via Stepping Stones

In one of the most beautiful spots on the Isle of Arran stands Glen Cottage next to the Glen path that leads up to the hills with breathtaking views of the dramatic mountains behind. Opposite is a burn with stepping stones across leading to the sandy beach of Sannox bay. The cottage was originally a Tearoom built circa 1895 for hill walkers and mountaineers. It was converted to a dwelling in about 1970 and has been owned by my mother since the 1971. She renovated it to make the most of the spectacular scenery and lived in it for many years until fairly recently. It has undergone another renovation to update the kitchen and living areas so it can be used by families and walkers alike as a warm, comfortable and homely place to stay on holiday.

We spent a most enjoyable week in this lovely cottage. It is small but with a large living area, scrupulously clean and with and many delightful touches - a selection of good books and games and a very efficient wood burner. Passing traffic sometimes shakes the house but it happens quite rarely so is not an inconvenience but rather exciting. The situation of the cottage is ideal. |For me, mountains, forest and the sea are the three points of interest on Arran and all are a stone's throw away. Wonderful walks abound and seals and red squirrels are to be seen close by as well as red deer in the fields behind the cottage. There is a regular bus service stopping outside the cottage: the drivers are very helpful and courteous. Brodick is 8 miles away - we found it an enjoyable walk. I would heartily recommend a stay at this cottage. We had a great time.

A little Gem

Wonderful scenery up the Glen, even from the bathtub. Wildlife all around the cottage.

Very clean & Homely. Recently decorated, new kitchen & beds.

NB. Parking across the road, most of Arran seems to do this, so be aware.

Hope to return in the future.
