Bloomfield (find us on Facebook) is a very traditional Cornish cottage, with original features, that has recently gone through a very sympathetic renovation. A secluded, completely enclosed garden in the back is a sun trap and the perfect setting for a relaxing summer's evening. Trevone Bay is not only famous for its beach, loved by surfers and families alike, but also for its proximity to great walks around the cliffs. Trevone Bay has just been awarded Blue Flag for its cleanliness!!!! The cottage is situated in the heart of the small village of Trevone, a few miles from Padstow, and very close to all the other excellent beaches of the North coast of Cornwall. I am a Brazilian lady who have been living in the UK for 27 years, 23 of which in Cornwall where I have made my home and can't think of leaving this place. I have always lived in this area, first in Bloomfield, Padstow for 12 years, where I have Skye Cottage (E6571) and now in Mawgan Porth. I am married to a local chap and both my daughters were born here, where they follow on their dad's footsteps playing golf, surfing and life-guarding during the Summer.

The best part of a self catering holiday is getting to play with someone else's things, and Bloomfield certainly doesn't disappoint in that regard. Great cook's knives and general kitchen paraphernalia, and as for the furniture... wow! Absolutelly gorgeous, and a wonderful juxtaposition of old and new. I particularly loved the dressing table and wardrobe in the master bedroom - and this is the only place we've stayed where we had enough coat hangers! I just wish we had made use of the open fireplace. Never mind, there's always next time.

snug dog friendly cottage on sw coast path

It is impossible to detach this property from it s location;- North Cornwall coast with wonderful yellow sand surfing beaches. The sw coast path strolls over headlands between these beaches from Newquay to Polzeath, Trevone is about midway, with pub, farm shop and surf shop.

The property has on street parking.

Access is gained to the front door via 3 short flights of steps ( no handrail).

Inside stairs rise to first floor bedrooms, a door leads to lounge thro' to a door to the kitchen/ dining area through to a conservatory, out to sunny secure garden.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms each bedroom has some storage, and a bathroom.

The owners has given considerable thought to ensure that guests can enjoy their stay - our welcome was a cream tea with Chough scones, milk in fridge, tea, coffee and sugar in canisters. As well as being warm with

snug comfy beds, open fire, good selection of cooking utensils and sharp knives, half size dishwasher, shower in conservatory to wash off sand, line for wet suits, even dog bowls and cake tins and lots of lovely hot water.

Bring fuel for fire if needed, extra loo rolls, extra dishwasher and washing machine tablets.

Conservatory door in need of repair. Upstairs shower pressure either hot with low pressure or cold with high pressure.

We had the most fabulous week. Come out of season when the beaches are open to dogs, this area is spectacular especially when the sun shines.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for such a lovely review. Really glad you had a good time. The conservatory door does need attention but it's safety glass so quite safe to use. About upstairs shower, my apologies but electric ones are never as good as gas. I hope to see you again soon.

Delightful Holiday Cottage

Home from home, very clean. Gorgeous open fire in the lounge which was put to a lot of use! Location stunning right near the beach with a pub within walking distance.

Lovely clean, warm and comfortable cottage was perfect for a family holiday. So convenient for the beach and getting out and about to Padstow, Fraddon, Truro and Newquay. Great service as always with plenty of equipment in the cottage for entertainment. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Ideal property and fantastic location

Well presented and clean property ideal for a family of 4 and dog. We love the location having staying in the area each summer or the last 7 years. Numerous restaurants in Padstow and surrounding area - we enjoyed eating at the Cornish Arms this year, with Rick Steins Fish & Chip shop in Padstow always supplying a quality take away and the Chough Bakery is always a must for a pasty.

Dream home from home

I was visiting Cornwall to look for a house there, and left wishing I could live at Bloomfield.

It's a beautiful little cottage, gorgeously fitted out and spotlessly clean. I'm going to steal a lot of the design features for my own place.

Parking was easy (although might be a little more difficult in high season - the local pub will let you park there though), and the beach is just a couple of minutes stroll through the village.

I highly recommend Bloomfield Cottage for a stay, it's flawless.

Bloomfield Cottage has a special place in my heat. I bought it in 1995 and lived there for seven years, when I had my daughters, who left the house still very young. They don't remember much from this time, but every time I go, I can see them running around. We used to take them down to the beach the whole year round, regardless of the weather, and the coloured glass bits framing the shower in the conservatory were collected by them on Rocky beach when they were toddlers. My husband and I bought the house from his parents and we are the fourth generation to own it. We have put it on the market twice and given up on the idea. I just cannot bring myself to sell it!

The area is a surfer's paradise, with plenty of surf schools and surfing equipment for hire. There is also sailing, water ski, kite-surfing, paddle boarding and kayaking.

Booking is made either by phone or e-mail. I do not take cards and a deposit is required prior to booking confirmation. The amount of the deposit will depend on the season and the full amount to be paid, but it's normally 40%. Payment is made either by cheque or Internet banking. Changeover day is Saturday but I am very flexible during low season. Please contact me for alternative arrangements. No cards, sorry. A fee of £25.00/dog is also charge (minimum of two dogs).
Terms & Conditions:
If booking is made less than six weeks before arrival, full payment is required on booking.
Guests cancelling up to four weeks before arrival will receive 50% of the balance money
Guests cancelling up to two weeks before arrival will receive 25% of the balance money
Deposit money is non-refundable and all cancellations have to be made in writing

From the Owner

The house is a above all a family home. And that's the feeling most people take from it, I'm glad to say. Apart from the beach nearby, the walks are legendary. You can reach Padstow on a beautiful coastal walk or go the other way to Harlyn Beach, which is dog friendly the whole year round. Not being too big, make it easy to heat so the cottage is as pleasant in the Summer as it is in the Winter. Two fire places help, as well. The house dates back to the end of 19th century and it is a work in progress. We have made several reforms over the years but have tried our best to keep its original features.

  • Notes on accommodation: Bloomfield allows up to two well-behaved dogs. Dogs should be restricted to the ground floor of the property and should be kept off the furniture and not left unaccompanied in the property at any time. £25 pet fee is payable. Outside: Garden has outdoor furniture and barbecue Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels provided at no extra cost. Bring extra towels for the beach. Other: The kitchen gives access to a small conservatory, in case the summer is not that sunny. There is also a shower in there, ideal to get rid of the sand after coming back from the beach. The conservatory leads to a small, secluded garden, with a BBQ.
