Beautiful Self Catering Cottage In Peaceful Location Close To Thirlmere Lake And Waterfalls

A traditional Lakeland cottage, recently refurbished, nestled by Fisher Gill waterfalls and in the shadow of Helvellyn. It is the beautiful place to enjoy walks or cycling from the door but also within easy reach of Keswick and Grasmere with all amenities.

The cottage can accommodate 6 people, in 2 double and 1 twin bedroom. There is a large farmhouse kitchen, with slate floor and new appliances. The family bathroom includes a shower and ample bath and the master bedroom has en suite. There are 2 reception rooms, the lounge and snug, which have log burning stoves and plenty of seats to relax after a day on the fells.

There is parking for 2 cars and undercover bike store. The cottage is ideal as a base for exploring the Lake District or as a hideaway to explore yourself.

The house is available for for pet owners with a well behaved dog.

There is a beautiful kitchen diner with a slate floor and welsh dresser. It has ample seating for 6 people and has views towards Blencathra and the St John in the Vale valley. There is also a down stairs toilet and a laundry room. The kitchen includes a large fridge freezer, diswasher, built in fan assisted oven and ceramic hob.

Next to the kitchen is a snug and beyond that is the main lounge, both rooms have log burning stoves (logs are supplied with the rental) and comfy sofas. In the main lounge there is a flat screen TV, blu Ray DVD player and Sky to keep everyone entertained. The snug is a quiet lounge with a selection of books and games to enjoy during your stay. There is free Wifi at the house.

Upstairs there are 3 double bedroom, one en-suite and a large family bathroom. The 2 of the bedrooms have double beds and the third has twin beds so ample room for 6 guests. The en-suite has a large shower, basin and toilet and the family bathroom a walk in shower, large bath, toilet and basin with ample storage for all your toiletries.

The house has an electric combi boiler so you have central heating and hot water on tap but if you need to make is really cosy there are two log burning stoves.

In the back garden there is a large gazeo with table and chairs to enjoy alfresco dinning. There is a BBQ available for your use and the back garden looks up to the waterfalls of Fisher Gill, a magical setting for enjoying an evening in the lakes. There is room for the kids to play and at the front there is benches to enjoy the scenery over the How towards Thirmere lake.

There is also a covered outside bike store for you to store any bikes.

Bookings are Saturday to Saturday

Notes on the Road Closure

The A591 between Keswick and Grassmere is now open.

It is an ideal spot for a stay in the Lakes.

About Sam Condren

The cottage was built in 1872 and was the Farm cottage for Thirlspot Farm for many many years. We bought the property in 2011 in need of much love and refurbishment. We have given the cottage a new lease of life, a lot of hard graft and love but it is now a beautiful holiday home which we feel, as a family, very proud to own.

It is much loved by our family and friends and we hope that anyone using the cottage will enjoy their stay as much as we do when we use it as our relaxing base in the lakes.

The property has historical character whilst all the modern conveniences you need. Its location is just amazing nestled in the lakeland hills with water falls cascading behind the property and a beautiful quiet lake on your doorstep. Heaven!

What makes this cottage unique

The children find it a safe place to play outside, cycling through the village and enjoying walks up the waterfall. In addition the local wild life is a joy to see, we have a family of red squirrels nesting in a tree close to the back garden and many different local birds visiting the local bird feeders.

Notes:
Outside: The cottage has outside ample parking for two cars off road, next to the house. An under cover bike store is available to the side of the house. The back garden is secluded with views of Fisher Gill water falls. It includes a patio area with table and chairs and a barbecue to enjoy those warm summer evenings after a day on fells. At the front of the property is a small garden with a bench to enjoy the stunning views of the hills around Thirlmere lake. Utility Room: There is a separate boiler room which acts as a drying cupboard for boots and coats. There is a downstairs toilet and washing room with washer and tumble dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are included and the property is cleaned before and after your stay. A bag of logs is available for the fires at an additional cost. Other: The snug has another log burning stove, leather sofa and chairs. This is a relaxing games/reading room. It has a large bookcase with a selection of books and games to keep you entertained through your stay. There is also a CD and ipod/phone player.

Beautiful cottage, immaculately presented. Perfect location for walking and sightseeing.

We had a wonderful break in October and can highly recommend t.his cottage. The neighbours, Eric and Marie, were very welcoming and helpful. The cottage itself was immaculate and very cosy and comfortable.

The location of the cottage is perfect for walking and sightseeing, being halfway between Keswick and Grasmere and walking distance from Helvellyn. We will definitely return to this property.

A beautiful, well-equipped cottage in an ideal location

We had no difficulty in locating this cottage with the owner's directions. We found it exceeded our expectations as it was tastefully furnished and extremely well equipped. Everything was clean, the beds were very comfortable and the lovely bathrooms were modern and efficient. The property was ideally situated for visiting Grasmere, Keswick and Ambleside - we managed to ascend Helvellyn and Cat Bells, to walk around Grasmere and Buttermere Lakes and took in a boat trip around Derwent Water. We were extremely lucky with the great weather for this time of year! We would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage and, indeed, hope to return some time in the future. Lovely cottage

Comfortable well equipped cottage.plenty of space to spread out for our group of 4 adults. Lovely views from cottage and gentle bleating of new lambs.

The road closure should be coming to end but we managed anyway! We did our shopping in keswick as well as trying out lunch stops in several jennings pub. Favourites were pheasant in Keswick and horse and farrier in Threlkeld. This area was a slight shift in location for us and allowed acess to different walks we would recommend this cottage.
