About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Cottage in Pentrefelin, Nr. Criccieth, Wales - Close To The Stunning Llyn Peninsular Beaches

Tyn Llech is a lovingly restored 5 Star graded 17th Century two storey stone cottage nestling amongst ancient oak woodlands on a private 2000 acre country estate on the edge of Snowdonia. Originally two farm cottages, this charming house was designed by the Williams-Ellis family (Portmeirion) who have ensured that the renovations were in harmony with the surroundings. With its limed oak flooring, wood burning stove and pastel colours, whether you are looking for a romantic retreat or a family holiday, Tyn Llech won't disappoint. There are stunning views right across the Llyn Peninsular from both inside the house and from the pretty lawned gardens.

Why Tamar Ferguson chose Porthmadog

This adorable split-level stone cottage has been renovated in harmony with its surroundings. Step into a kitchen/dining room, sweet, simple and well-equipped, with a separate utility room for a dishwasher and washer/drier and a fabulous welcome pack on the table: milk, bread, home made cake and jam. A basket of our own logs from the Estate. Then it's up two steps to a charming low-beamed sitting room, its oak floor limed, its beams painted white. Modern sofas heaped with cushions face a wood-burning stove, logs courtesy of the surrounding estate and blue-painted French windows open to a flagstone terrace with a barbecue and canvas chairs. On another level is the master bedroom, an inviting and harmonious space: duck egg-blue walls, a view over the fields, a walk-in shower with a warm towel rail and a heated floor. Two further bedrooms lie upstairs. This is a beautiful cottage where colours are serene, fabrics are fresh, and prints, paintings and furniture (antique and new) add both character and style. Groups can spill over into the manor house or neighbouring cottage. There's Criccieth for castle and sands, Harlech for history, and glorious walks up in the hills.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This is a top cottage in a fabulous location. Highlights for us – beautiful walks in the hills above Harlech. Visiting the Glaswyn Osprey Project and dinner at Castell Deudrath at Portmeirion. Marvellous views. Thank you.

We had a truly wonderful holiday at Tyn Llech. It is such a beautiful cottage that I could have cried when I left. I would love to think that we will return again.

As you predicted, we had a wonderful stay in Tyn Llech. The cottage is ideal in every aspect from it’s location, character, renovation and attention to detail. We delighted in discovering all the things the cottage offered.

What a fantastic cottage. Waking up to sea views. The cottage is warm and cosy, especially with the log burner. The welcome pack was delicious. What a wonderful welcome! All in all a fantastic holiday and we shall be back.

I am not surprised that people are returning time and time again – they are super cottages guests are so well looked after.

Beautiful cottage in the North Wales countryside

What a lovely home away from home. Everything was exactly as per the description and of a really high standard. We took advantage of the meal offer on our arrival and it was fabulous. Looked after really well and would definitely go again.

Stunning cottage in a beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

After walking into this beautiful cottage I quickly realised why it had been highly recommended to us. The characteristics of the cottage are breathtaking, the open fire, the soft furnishings, the fully equipped kitchen, just stunning. We spent 3 lovely nights here and will definitely be back.

The meal we arranged for our arrival was as promised delivered by Vivien who could not do enough to make our stay special. The meal was fabulous and a great start to our short stay.

Thank you for as letting us stay in your beautiful cottage in a stunning location.

Wonderful Tyn llech

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas at Tyn Llech. The cottage was wonderfully warm and comfortable. Our hosts had kindly decorated the cottage and provided a Christmas tree to add to the festive feel. The weather duly obliged with a dusting of snow. The cottage setting was perfect, secluded and quiet, but not isolated. We were provided with all the information we needed before and during our stay, and Viv the housekeeper was brilliant.

All in all we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend or stay again. We very much look forward to another visit. Thank you :-)

Second time in Tyn Llech

  • 5 of 5

Criccieth has plenty of independent shops and Porthmadog has a large Tesco.

We also supply a basket of logs for the wood burner (cut from our own woods) and a bag of charcoal for the BBQ.
