About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Cottage in Pentrefelin, Nr. Criccieth, Wales - Close To The Stunning Llyn Peninsular Beaches

Tyn Llech is a lovingly restored 5 Star graded 17th Century two storey stone cottage nestling amongst ancient oak woodlands on a private 2000 acre country estate on the edge of Snowdonia. Originally two farm cottages, this charming house was designed by the Williams-Ellis family (Portmeirion) who have ensured that the renovations were in harmony with the surroundings. With its limed oak flooring, wood burning stove and pastel colours, whether you are looking for a romantic retreat or a family holiday, Tyn Llech won't disappoint. There are stunning views right across the Llyn Peninsular from both inside the house and from the pretty lawned gardens.

Why Tamar Ferguson chose Gwynedd - Snowdonia

This adorable split-level stone cottage has been renovated in harmony with its surroundings. Step into a kitchen/dining room, sweet, simple and well-equipped, with a separate utility room for a dishwasher and washer/drier and a fabulous welcome pack on the table: milk, bread, home made cake and jam. A basket of our own logs from the Estate. Then it's up two steps to a charming low-beamed sitting room, its oak floor limed, its beams painted white. Modern sofas heaped with cushions face a wood-burning stove, logs courtesy of the surrounding estate and blue-painted French windows open to a flagstone terrace with a barbecue and canvas chairs. On another level is the master bedroom, an inviting and harmonious space: duck egg-blue walls, a view over the fields, a walk-in shower with a warm towel rail and a heated floor. Two further bedrooms lie upstairs. This is a beautiful cottage where colours are serene, fabrics are fresh, and prints, paintings and furniture (antique and new) add both character and style. Groups can spill over into the manor house or neighbouring cottage. There's Criccieth for castle and sands, Harlech for history, and glorious walks up in the hills.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This is a top cottage in a fabulous location. Highlights for us – beautiful walks in the hills above Harlech. Visiting the Glaswyn Osprey Project and dinner at Castell Deudrath at Portmeirion. Marvellous views. Thank you.

We had a truly wonderful holiday at Tyn Llech. It is such a beautiful cottage that I could have cried when I left. I would love to think that we will return again.

As you predicted, we had a wonderful stay in Tyn Llech. The cottage is ideal in every aspect from it’s location, character, renovation and attention to detail. We delighted in discovering all the things the cottage offered.

What a fantastic cottage. Waking up to sea views. The cottage is warm and cosy, especially with the log burner. The welcome pack was delicious. What a wonderful welcome! All in all a fantastic holiday and we shall be back.

I am not surprised that people are returning time and time again – they are super cottages guests are so well looked after.

Second time in Tyn Llech

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very comfortable and clean. Vivian is such a wonderful person and doing a great job: weekly fresh flowers, self made marmelade , fresh lobster and more. Thank you Vivian !!!

The spacious kitchen/diner leads up into the Sitting Room with it’s limed oak floor, deep comfortable sofas and chairs set around a wood burning stove in the inglenook fireplace. French Windows open onto the pretty secluded garden and patio area. Leading from the sitting room on a split level is the large Master Bedroom, which is beautifully presented with two singles which can zip together to make a king sized bed. There is a separate contemporary Shower room with loo, basin and a walk-in shower/wet area, heated towel rail and under floor heating with views across the fields. Upstairs are two additional Bedrooms, one twin room and one double room. You will see some of the owner’s framed drawings on the walls. These 2 bedrooms share the family bathroom. Outside: The gardens are a delight at all times of the year and change with the seasons. Private and lawned, they are perfect for children. The patio has garden furniture and BBQ. There are stunning views right across the Llyn Peninsular where you can watch the spectacular sunsets whilst enjoying an al-fresco supper! The surrounding fields, hills and woodlands are a joy to explore - particularly for bird watchers and dog walkers. We even have a private lake which is stocked with trout every summer, where guests can fish at a nominal cost. The Wern Estate is a glorious place to get away from it all and we guarantee total seclusion in this charming cottage. Utility Room: There is a separate utility room with dishwasher and washer/drier. Plenty of space for boots and drying coats. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Beds are made up for arrival using fine thread Egyptian cotton and pure down marshmallow duvets; House and beach towels and guest soaps are provided. We include a mid-week clean.
