About the property

Farmhouse in St Marcel Campes, Tarn, Midi Pyrenees, France - Secluded Location 10 Minutes By Car From The Beautiful 13th Century Bastide Town Of Cordes Sur Ciel

Built some 400 years ago, the property is constructed of locally quarried stone (cool in the heat of the summer, warm in the winter) with an abundance of timber beams throughout the rooms. Le Bouyssounet is entered through a stone archway leading to a delightful cobblestone and gravel courtyard. To the left an old bread oven and barn (partially restored) and to the right the main house comprising of a staircase leading to the owners accommodation (owners not in residence when let) and ahead at courtyard level are the stone arched French doors of the guest rooms just a few paces away from the 12 x 6 metre Roman style swimming pool and south facing garden. The 12 x 6 meter Roman end pool is delightfully secluded and is in an elevated position with glorious views of the garden and surrounding countryside. The wide tiled surround is ideal for sunbathing, entertaining and includes a BBQ. Poolside dining table and chairs (seating 6) as well as various sun loungers. Table tennis in the barn.

About Greg Younger

Greg and Chrissie Younger are both retired from the film and television industry. Their love of France and particularly the SW region has been ongoing for many years. In 1991 they decided to buy and renovate the 400 year old stone farmhouse and barn, this has indeed been a labour of love and has been kept as much as possible in its original condition by using local artisans and materials.

We love the secluded location of the house whilst being only 10 minutes from our nearest town the beautiful 13th century 'Bastide' of Cordes. We are also only and hour from the city of Toulouse and 30 minutes from the beautiful city of Albi with its fantastic cathedral and red brick buildings sited on the river Tarn.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We love the abundance of wildlife, the seclusion of the house and as there is no pollution in the region, the wonderful fresh air.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for sharing your amazing and private property. The beautiful courtyard, amazing vistas and facilities in the property were outstanding. Charlie was completely safe and took to lovely walks without requiring his lead. We have to be honest your property surpassed our expectations!!!!

It is very apparent that you have put a lot of thought and care into renovating your period Farmhouse with lots of period features and French charm both inside and out. The accommodation is spacious and had everything we needed.

We named the balcony at the front of the property the Gin and Tonic balcony, as we watched the sun set over the lovely countryside on many an evening.

Pete took to relaxing and drawing views and interesting nooks and crannies around the property, which is something he hasn’t done for a while.

Theo and I got through a large number of novels just chilling out around the pool.

We would love to come back and visit again!

Our 2016 holiday is not one we will forget! Thanks again!

Beautiful grounds and pool

We had a super week staying at this delightful gite. The setting is wonderful - really peaceful, with lovely views, yet within reach of attractions. The garden has many seating areas to relax in the shade and we ate all our meals outside near the pool. The pool itself is a highlight of the gite and we particularly enjoyed having a floodlit dip each evening. We enjoyed several trips out, in particular a kayaking trip and high-ropes adventure course at Najac. Overall, a really enjoyable week.

Beautiful, relaxing place.

We had a wonderful week here. From the moment we arrived, the amazing views and fantastic farmhouse relaxed and recharged us.

The house was very clean on arrival, a nice welcome back awaited and everything was as described.

We traveled with 2 adults and 2 kids aged 9 and 14 and the house was perfect for our needs. We all loved the pool (which is much larger than you'd usually get with a private rental), with its glorious view over the countryside, table tennis and badminton in the garden, evening bike rides, walks and BBQ's. Lots of lovely spots in the garden for evening drinks and relaxing reading too.

Greg was very helpful and easily contactable in advance and during our stay and Dominic, the local manager was very helpful too.

Cordes is a lovely town, about 10-15 mins away by car and has everything you need - small supermarkets, great butchers and bakers, cafes etc, as well as the beautiful Medieval village on the hill.

Lots of activities and places of interest are easily reached by a short

car journey.

Cycling country is great around here , if you don't mind hills - the roads are quiet and scenic. The route back to the house is a couple of miles up a steep hill though, so much easier by car!

Overall, I'd recommend the house to anyone wanting peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. Lots of thought has gone into providing everything you could need and because the owners live here for some of the year (not when guests stay), everything is beautifully kept and cared for.

The most beautiful place we've ever stayed in!

This property is very special - a real gem. It is stunningly beautiful, with lots of character and charm, in a picturesque setting amidst its own gardens and has unrivalled views of the countryside beyond. The description accurately describes the property, it was immaculately clean and well-maintained and Dominic was very friendly and helpful and could easily be contacted to answer any questions, if needed. The owner, Greg, provided very good communication and lots of helpful information prior to our stay. The midi-Pyrenees region is breathtaking - would recommend canoeing at Saint Antonin (although not suitable for younger children, due to Rapids). Cordes is charming to walk around or sit in a cafe, watching the world go by. Would highly recommend this property and didn't want to leave!

Peaceful Paradise!

This is a truly lovely place to stay!

The house is well equipped and comfortable. The bedrooms are beautifully presented and cool in the evening. The courtyard and grounds of the house are very spacious with many lovely seating options for shade or sun at different times of the day. The pool and view from the gardens are superb. We enjoyed breakfast by the pool each morning, and feasted on the wonderful fig tree in the garden. It is in a serenely beautiful quiet area on top of a hill surrounded by farmland. It is also close to nearby towns of Cordes sur ciel and Antonin du Noble Val. A wonderful paradise!!!

Fantastic Famhouse Retreat

The farmhouse and surroundings met our expectations of what we had seen on the website. Loved the pool which is such a great size. We were lucky with the weather so that helped. House was clean on arrival and a nice welcome pack to start us on our way. House Manager very nice and available if needed. Some good local restaurants, enjoyed the canoeing, castles and old towns.

Hope to go back sometime for another chill out session.

Greg the owner was very helpful and pleasant. All in all a lovely break.
