Not a 5* property at all - really disappointing
Sadly I thought I’d booked and paid for a 5 star accommodation. Hebog Bach is not this at all. We have stayed in many 5* holiday cottages over the last 10 years and this house is disappointing. The photos made the property look like separate rooms had no idea that the kitchen was part of the living room and all one space. The photos were totally misleading. Also they must have been taken when it was completed as furniture was different and everything looked new. Bedding had black spec marks all over and some rust marks on it and felt damp on arrival, which the two combined made it feel dirty. One of the beds is so soft it’s like sleeping in a hammock. When I first sat on it I actually fell off, as the side just gave way. The kitchen work surface was appalling. Had very bad water damage around the sink area and was going black in places with mould. We have a wooden work top at home and they have to be looked after. It is totally unsuitable for a rental property. It felt completely unclean and in other areas was all tacky with old varnish. In a kitchen that is used by many it is so unpleasant and so unhygienic. It puts you off preparing anything in there. You just could not wipe it clean. Nothing is thought out. Big pieces of furniture in front of sockets you need to use for say a hairdryer where there is a mirror so couldn’t plug in. Bedside lamps so tall you have to get out of bed to turn off. It’s the small things that add up to big things. The outdoor furniture was past its best years ago, even a good clean would have helped. We were questioned on the fact that we had brought our dog 3 days into the holiday, when our booking clearly stated we had booked 3 adults, 1 child and a pet. The booking at that time must have not charged us for the dog and this then was queried. I was then sent emails with rules for the dog which are pretty much the same wherever you go apart from the fact that your animal was not allowed to toilet in any of the garden which is just ludicrous and if that’s the case they should not accept dogs. I sent a screenshot of my booking to prove that we had booked for a dog, never got an apology or anything was just told when I emailed them again to confirm they had seen my booking that they were busy. Finally, when they did get back to me they said they would waiver the charge?!!! (Mind blown at that point). The saving grace of this house was the view which is just beautiful.

Beautiful Get-away House
We had a lovely week in Hebog Bach with our three teenage girls. Beautiful, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped house in stunning location with views to the sea. Great walks from the door and everything within easy reach - beaches, mountains, supermarkets. We had some rainy days but the house was a lovely cosy retreat from the weather.

Why they chose this property

This adorable stone cottage has been renovated in harmony with its surroundings. Step into a living room with full height ceilings, oak limed floors and beams, sweet, simple and well-equipped . A fabulous welcome pack on the table: home made cake and jam, coffee and tea, biscuits and juice. Modern sofas heaped with cushions face a wood-burning stove, logs courtesy of the surrounding estate and blue-painted French windows open the patio with a barbecue and canvas chairs. The sea views are spectacular. This is a beautiful cottage where colours are serene, fabrics are fresh, and prints, paintings and furniture (antique and new) add both character and style. The yellow room with delightful window seat looking across the fields. The pink room with singles which can be zipped together has a fantastic en-suite. The green room with twin beds is perfect for children. Groups can spill over into the manor house or neighbouring cottage. There's Criccieth for castle and sands, Harlech for history, and glorious walks up in the hills.

What makes this property unique

So many of our guests come back year after year "we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else" "the beds were divine" "The cottage has everything you could ever want and more, its a really beautiful place".
You feel that you have the whole of the private Wern Estate to yourselves - wander up the lanes and enjoy the tranquility. Catch the local bus into Criccieth and enjoy a meal at the many restaurants. The list is endless....just come and see for yourselves!
