5 Star Gold Award, Self Catering 17th Century Cottage In fishing village Selsey

Overview

Property

Updated: 21-Sep-2016
3 Bedrooms, 3 bathrooms inc wetroom and 2 ensuites, set in traditional fishing village and few minutes walk from beach.

PLEASE NOTE: For bookings between 4 and 6 nights the rates will be different to the quote automatically provided.

Luxury self catering, pet friendly, 17th Century Cottage that been graded 5 star and has recently received the Gold Award by the English Tourist Board.

If your looking for a self catered independent cottage in a coastal village, surrounded by country side, full of history, tradition and character then ‘Little Thatch’ could be the cottage for you.

Little Thatch has been fully restored but still maintains much of its original character in line with many of the original buildings that make up old Selsey.

The cottage is centrally heated and has 3 bedrooms, two upstairs with en-suites, 1 with a bathroom and 1 shower room. The ground floor bedroom is next to the downstairs bathroom and is a wet room.

The downstairs is open plan with living room consisting of a sofa and 3 armchairs, kitchen area and dining area.

The enclosed garden is south facing and there is also a small secluded internal courtyard.

We welcome pets to the cottage and can provide dog bowls, spare towels for pets and also have pet waste disposal facilities.

Smoking is not allowed in the cottage itself but is allowed in the courtyard and garden area.

Selsey was a small fishing hamlet and 'Little Thatch' was the local Fish Shop where the fisherman dropped off their catch for sale. Today Selsey remains a traditional fishing village and still has a fleet of fishing boats. Many of the restaurants and pubs serve locally caught fish and there are two local pubs within a few minutes of the accommodation itself.

There is plenty of variety when planning on things to see or do. From fishing or diving, cycling or walking locally in and around the coast or countryside to seeing the latest productions on offer at Chichester Theatre or one of the Goodwood annual events such as the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival

Beautiful, clean unusual property

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautifully kept quirky cottage just a few minutes walk from the pebbly beach at Selsey. It was extremely clean with quality fixtures and fittings and bedding and being greeted by one of the owners to talk through a few things was a nice touch. The welcome pack was one of the best I have ever had in a cottage (fabulous breakfast!). And all dog friendly too. Close to West Wittering and Chichester. Highly recommend.

Amazing and Luxurious

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage that is well equipped and furnished. Thank you for the Fruit and welcome pack much needed after the journey from London.

Neil was welcoming, entertaining and friendly. The bedrooms are lovely and cosy and better than some 4 star hotels we have stayed in.

The garden is a sun trap and a fantastic place to sit and watch the stars late into the night.

The sea is a short walk and there are plenty of local shops. The countryside and coast is beautiful and there are loads of places to visit.

we are already planning our next visit.

Excellent cottage with excellent facilities

  • 5 of 5

Little Thatch is a cottage which is far bigger than it appears to be. It has 3 double bedrooms all of which are en suite. The lounge/diner/kitchen is very spacious and the garden is a haven of quiet as well as being sheltered and private. The whole place is extremely well equipped and the owners, Neil and Philip, are very welcoming and keen to ensure that any special requests you have can be accommodated. All in all it is impossible not to relax in such lovely surroundings and we would recommend the cottage to anyone. It far exceeds its 5 star rating.

Highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our weekend stay at the cottage. Our first impression was how generous Neil had been in leaving welcome goodies...milk, eggs, bread, butter, makings of a fried breakfast, tea/coffee and basket of fruit.

The cottage was quaint, lounge really comfortable and three double bedrooms beautifully furnished...each with their own bathroom. The garden was welcoming and we used the disposable bbq left for our use. We have stayed in many cottages over the years, this was by far the best appointed....thanks again we will certainly return.

5* A Truly Beautiful Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Little Thatch and Wow ! - what a wonderful luxurious cottage. No expense has been spared in its' renovation to ensure maximum comfort for guests. From the Egyptian Cotton sheets with memory foam mattresses, to the complementary home made soaps, to the little surprises (will not elaborate here, would not want to spoil anything!) and the lovely sunny garden - our stay was worth every penny we paid. Nothing was too much trouble, the cottage was absolutely spotless. Everyone is catered for with endless books in every room, games too with a great selection of DVD's.

The cottage is a stones throw from Selsey's unspoilt beach and a few minutes walk to the High Street, where there are some lovely little shops and traditional, friendly pubs and eateries.

What a find! We aim to come back very soon.....

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic place to stay. We enjoyed it from the moment we arrived. The accommodation is lovely, so well looked after. The little extras were an added bonus and our little dog, Tara, was made so welcome and enjoyed her welcome gift. We visited all the local destinations around the Selsey area and were kept busy for the week. Neil and Philip were great hosts and made us very welcome. We hope to return again at some point in the future.
