About Nicki Unsworth

We are a local family who moved to Dorset from Berkshire a few years ago. We love renovating and decorating - our own place (also in Worth Matravers) was lovingly designed and decorated by us. This holiday cottage is our latest endeavour. We really love the house, the views, the village, the walks and the local food - and we are sure you will too!

Nicki Unsworth purchased this in 2012

Why Nicki Unsworth chose Purbeck

After moving to Worth Matravers ourselves, we immediately fell in love with it. When this dilapidated property became available we saw huge potential for a lovely holiday cottage and we jumped at the chance to create a luxury Dorset haven. Freshly renovated in time for Summer 2012, it is the perfect getaway for 4 couples or 2-3 families (or one really large family!)

Worth Matravers is one of the most beautiful villages in England, within easy reach of London, but feels a million lies away. It is quiet, beautiful, there are wonderful walks and lovely old country pubs to relax in.

What makes this unique

We want this cottage to be a home away from home. We have decorated it simply and stylishly. It has a state of the art kitchen for foodies like us, a warm and cosy living room, with exposed brick fireplace, and wood burner and bay windows with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside to the sea. For those who still want to be connected with the rest of the world, there is an LCD TV/Roku, internet and iPod dock.

The four bedrooms are bright and airy, with brand new beds and simple crisp white bedlinen with snug duvets and down pillows. There are three bathrooms (one en-suite) and a separate WC downstairs.

The cottage is located on the edge of Worth Matravers village. The coastal path can be accessed directly from a footpath outside the cottage - no need to ever see a road.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted to let you know how much we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hill Cottage this New Year.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and wonderfully equipped. Although the weather was a bit wild, we did make the most of the wonderful walking opportunities and our labrador (needless to say) has been in a right strop since returning to the city.

I wrote suitable compliments in your visitors' book and will recommend you to all my friends.

Kind regards and thank you for all your help.

Thank You for a wonderful weeks stay at Hill Cottage. Sorry to miss your call on Saturday but we didn't have any phone reception when you called. We left the property just before ten to make the most of the weather down at Studland beaches.

The house exceeded our expectations (not that we thought it'd be bad so please accept this in the good manner it is intended) and you as property owners were great, knowing you were on hand but not at all intrusive.

Lovely secluded cottage with beautiful views.

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely family get together at Hill Cottage at the beginning of December to celebrate my husband's 65th birthday. Everything we could need - with a fabulous, well equipped kitchen, which was perfect as we all love to cook!

The cottage was warm, cosy and welcoming - with plenty of space for 8 of us and our two little dachshunds, who loved the garden and local walks.

The property was spotlessly clean and very well maintained.

This is a beautiful part of West Dorset and Hill Cottage is in the perfect location to explore the Isle of Purbeck in particular.

We look forward to returning in the not too distant future.

Thank you for helping us to celebrate such a special occaision.

PERFECT NEW YEAR GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5

Property was lovely with fabulous views, we were 3 couples and two dogs and the facilities were just right, great having 3 bathrooms.

There was so much to do in the area, we visited Sandbanks, Weymouth Swanage and the recommended pubs, lovely food, and of course the magical Corfe Castle! didn't get time to visit the local pub or the tea room in the village which looked lovely so would love to return maybe in the summer.

Thank you Nicki and Tony for a memorable stay

Stunning Views

  • 4 of 5

A lovely house with stunning views. Clean and comfortable. We were dying to use the woodburner but it really wasn't cold enough. Despite it being October we enjoyed sitting on the deck in the sunshine, and then watching the amazing sunsets. Perfect location for coast walks, and enjoying all that the beautiful Isle of Purbeck has to offer. Tony and Nicki made us very welcome.

Home from home

  • 5 of 5

Our first visit was to this newly renovated house in 2012 so we knew what we were getting.

It is comfortable and in the most wonderful position on a hillside with a view from the garden to the sea. There are now binoculars on a tripod in the sitting room ready for viewing the passing sea traffic.

The only downside is that the two downstairs bedrooms face forward onto the parked cars. The upstairs double has the view. You will have to toss for it!

The bathrooms are always warm.

Could stay here for ever.

Lovely cottage perfect for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Fantastically appointed cottage. Extremely comfortable for a family of five plus grandparents.

Spacious, with lovely garden overlooking one of the finest views in Dorset. Throw in proximity to the village, tea rooms and pub, you can't go wrong.

Thanks very much

Perfect !

  • 5 of 5

The cottage met all expectations, beautifully decorated, well equipped and made safe for baby and little people, added to with splendid views - a glorious full rainbow over the sea at the end of one showery evening.

So well placed to visit all the attractions on the Isle of Purbeck being no more than 30 minutes drive each way, returning for relaxed evenings with comprehensive TV viewing, reading , board games and chill out drinks on the patio.

The bedroom and bathroom layout provided perfect options for parents, children and grandparents with comfortable beds and ample towelling.

We hope to make this our annual family retreat for years to come.
