About Paul & Katie Lewis

We have really loved the cottage since we bought it. We can't use it all the time but it's great to see others enjoying it as well.

Paul & Katie Lewis purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Paul & Katie Lewis chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

We bought the cottage in 2011 after visiting Pickering (and eating at the White Swan - much recommended!). We hadn't really noticed Pickering before as you go past it on the way to Whitby (we live in York).

However, the place is beautiful and a perfect base to go walking and cycling and just plain exploring. The town itself has really come alive and, as well as the obvious steam train railway and frankly, wacky, war time weekend (which is incredibly popular!) it has loads of wonderful deli's and restaurants and a whole range of pubs to suit all tastes.

What makes this cottage unique

We really like sitting out in the garden on warm days and occasionally popping into town for a coffee. In the evenings we often pop round the corner to The Sun pub - very friendly and great beer - and you can sit out in their garden as well (with it's own petanque green!)

The house itself had everything we needed for our three day short stay

  • 5 of 5

Great location and no problems with parking on the road. The house is superbly positioned and the access to local shops couldn’t be easier. Pickering is a really nice place as are so many of the surrounding towns and villages. Never met such friendly and helpful people as the locals.

The house itself had everything we needed for our three day short stay, including a comfy bed. Would benefit from a radio but overall really nice.

Great cottage in good location.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at colourfield cottage. The cottage was really well equipped and spacious. We sat out in the courtyard and garden in the sunshine - also perfect for the dog. Very close to the centre and ideally located for Dalby forest, helmsley and walks on the moors.

The fish and chip shop round the corner was excellent as was the white swan for food.

Would definitely recommend this cottage!

Christmas at colourfield

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful warm welcome awaited us on a damp and drizzly night. The bottle of fizz and crackers on the kitchen table was a nice touch, thank you. Nicely appointed cottage close to town, with pretty much everything you would want. Parking was a bit hap hazard but the warm soon got you passed that. Would happily stay again but some sharp knives in the kitchen and a few litter bins around the place would be a welcomed addition. Thanks David
