About Paul & Katie Lewis

We have really loved the cottage since we bought it. We can't use it all the time but it's great to see others enjoying it as well.

Paul & Katie Lewis purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Paul & Katie Lewis chose Pickering

We bought the cottage in 2011 after visiting Pickering (and eating at the White Swan - much recommended!). We hadn't really noticed Pickering before as you go past it on the way to Whitby (we live in York).

However, the place is beautiful and a perfect base to go walking and cycling and just plain exploring. The town itself has really come alive and, as well as the obvious steam train railway and frankly, wacky, war time weekend (which is incredibly popular!) it has loads of wonderful deli's and restaurants and a whole range of pubs to suit all tastes.

What makes this cottage unique

We really like sitting out in the garden on warm days and occasionally popping into town for a coffee. In the evenings we often pop round the corner to The Sun pub - very friendly and great beer - and you can sit out in their garden as well (with it's own petanque green!)

Perfect cosy cottage in an excellent location...

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here leading up to the Easter Bank Holiday weekend -

It’s very spacious & the location is excellent - a five minute walk to the high street in Pickering.

The house is superbly positioned and the access to local shops couldn’t be easier. Pickering is a really nice place as are so many of the surrounding towns and villages.

The house itself had everything we needed for our stay including a comfy bed, great bath & shower & a very cosy living room..

It is very clean & well equipped & has everything you need whilst away from home.

A lovely box of cookies was much appreciated on arrival & a very nice touch.

There is unrestricted parking outside house - as long as there are spaces but we didn’t have a problem.

It has a secure area for dogs & a garden available (weather permitting of course)

There is a chip shop & pub 2 mins away.

We ate at The Bay Horse Inn - A great dog-freindly pub, within walking distance in Pickering - would recommend.

We have 1 small dog & the owners were happy for us to take, as long as they stayed downstairs and not on the furniture.

I would definitely recommend staying here & will do again if in Pickering or the surrounding area....

Warm, Cosy, Spacious and perfect position

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Colourfield Cottage, as soon as we walked through the door, we knew made a good choice . It was so warm , (didn’t even need to put the fire on and it was Baltic weather whilst we stayed there) well equipped , comfortable , great sized kitchen , (and a-“ good size fridge) . Loads of crockery and utensils/equipment , games, advice notes , could do with a radio to listen to when cooking etc !) The top floor bedroom is really spacious, (as is the twin which we didn’t use) the shower is unbelievably powerful ! Heaven after a days walking . Perfectly positioned for walking to local eateries and pubs (just under 10 mins to the high street, but you do have the Sun Inn, 2 mins walk away!) as well as exploring surrounding areas. Great value and good choice for a getaway .

Colourfield Cottage,Pickering

  • 4 of 5

My grandaughter and I stayed at Colourfield Cottage 21.10.17 to 28.10.17. The house was very welcoming. Rooms were of a good size, clean and well furnished. Kitchen was extremely good with everything you needed. There was a welcoming cake with milk and and a collection of tea to suit individual needs. The large kitchen table was a great family focal point for meals. The lounge was comfortably furnished with the choice of tv and dvd player. There was only one drawback for me as I suffer from arthritis, was the two flights of stairs to reach the double bedroom.

I would certainly recommend it to my friends and family

The house itself had everything we needed for our three day short stay

  • 5 of 5

Great location and no problems with parking on the road. The house is superbly positioned and the access to local shops couldn’t be easier. Pickering is a really nice place as are so many of the surrounding towns and villages. Never met such friendly and helpful people as the locals.

The house itself had everything we needed for our three day short stay, including a comfy bed. Would benefit from a radio but overall really nice.
