There are many country walks from the front door of the cottage.

The cottage was totally refurbished last year. On the ground floor there is a kitchen which retains the original floor tiles and has all the equipment necessary for all your needs. The living room has a round dining table which seats 4, a sofa and 2 easy chairs TV and video player. The bathroom which has a new suite is on the 1st floor. The shower is over the bath. The master bedroom has a double bed, 2 bedside cabinets and a wardrobe. The 2nd bedroom has a full size single bed with retractable bed below. This sleeps 2 children comfortably. There is a chest of drawers and bedside cabinet.

All the fixtures and fittings in the cottage are new.

It is small but has been sympathetically restored.

Well End Cottage has only just been completely restored and refurbished to a high standard yet retaining many of its original features.

The kitchen is fully equipped with washer/dryer, dishwasher, electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and utensils.

The living room has table and chairs, sofa and 2 easy chairs, TV and DVD player and wood burning stove in original Bath stone fireplace.

The stairs from this room lead to 2 bedrooms one with double bed, bedside tables and wardrobe and the other 3 ' single bed with retractable under bed, chest of drawers and bedside table. Freshly laundered bed linen and towels are provided.

The bathroom with WC shower and bath and heated towel rail has just been installed. There is a mirror fronted cabinet, housing the shaver point, above the washbasin.

Superb self-catering cottage

I was in the cottage during a contract assignment down in Chippenham. I was based there for about six months and more or less made the cottage my second home! It was delightful and in a superbly attractive Cotswold village! The landlady, Gwen and her cleaner, Jo were excellent and so helpful. I would highly recommend this cottage to anybody both for business and/or pleasure purposes.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location

My family and I stayed in Well End cottage for just under five months whilst we waited for our new home to be completed. The cottage is in a great location, in the heart of Biddestone, with a park, duck pond and two great pubs within five minutes' walk. Bath, Corsham and Chippenham are all also within easy reach.

The cottage itself is beautifully furnished and recently renovated. The kitchen has everything you need, and the living/dining area, whilst compact, is nicely furnished and very comfortable. Upstairs there are two nice bedrooms and a high quality bathroom. The owners could not have been more welcoming and were extremely attentive throughout our stay.

In summary, the cottage is perfect for short stays to allow you to explore a beautiful part of the country. Alternatively, if you require a slightly longer short-term let do not look beyond the cottage as it was a perfect place to stay for my family to have stayed over over the second half of 2013.

Excellent Cottage

We stayed in Well End cottage over the Christmas period and could not have asked for more (other than snow). The cottage was beautifully presented and everything was thought about for people renting the cottage for a short term. The owner (and his mother) and provided tea, coffee etc, dish washing liquid, soap shampoo - everything. Beautiful cottage in beautiful village. Gwen answered all of our questions and more. Thank you.

I am a local person born and brought up in Corsham where most of my family still live. I now live and work in London but spend as much time as possible in Wiltshire. For me Wiltshire is a beautiful area where I can relax.

Biddestone is easily reached by road being only 10 minutes from Junction 17 off the M4 and by train, Chippenham Station is 4 miles away, Bath station is 9 miles.

Airports: Bristol 30 miles, Heathrow London 85 miles, Birmingham 100 miles

If you are not travelling by road a hire car would be recommended.

Taxi services are available.

Distances:

Historic Market town of Corsham (2 miles) has 3 cash points and The Porch Doctors Surgery and 2 Dental Surgeries. Visit the Elizabethan manor house, Corsham Court with a fine art collection. Flemish Weavers Cottages and the C17th Almshouses. Independent shops pubs and restaurants.

Chippenham 3 miles with Morrisons and Sainsburys Super Stores. Allington Farm Shop 2 miles. Lacock and Castle Combe 4 miles, Bath 9 miles.

Longleat is just 35 miles away.

Further Details:

The local villages have been the location for many films and period dramas.

There are many white horses carved in the chalk hillsides.

The Fosseway, Ridgeway and Cotswold Way are within easy distance.

Swindon (20 miles) and Bristol (20 miles) linked by the former Great Western Railway which passes through the 2 mile long Box Tunnel. Swindon has a fine Railway museum and Bristol has the SS Great Britain and Clifton Suspension Bridge. Bristol waterside and the Science Museum are worth visiting.

Notes on prices:
Wellside is generally £100 a week more because it is a larger cottage and has a pleasant secluded garden.
Well End is more compact but is as well equipped as Wellside. It is ideal for families or friends of Wellside guests but is a completely self contained cottage. Ideal for a small family wishing to visit the area.
Guests returning for further visits to either cottage will be given a 10% discount.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Wellside Cottage has a light, spacious living area, with comfortable seating and a pleasant dining area, a small study leads off to the left of the living area and the kitchen is to the right. Access to the secluded garden is from the kitchen through a stable door. A narrow staircase leads upstairs to 3 bedrooms and a bathroom . Well End is a smaller cottage which was fully refurbished by the end of June 2013. There are 2 bedrooms which offer very comfortable accommodation for 3 or 4 guests. Both cottages are equally well appointed. Travel Cot and High Chair available if required. Well End is also available for longer stays and would be ideal for anyone working temporarily in the area, house hunting or awaiting completion of purchase on a house. Outside: Wellside has enclosed garden with patio, table and four chairs. The decking area has two teak loungers. Cushions for patio chair and loungers are stored in the deck box in the garden shed. A barbecue is available. Many garden games, activities and a swing are also stored in the shed. There are often cows in the field behind the cottage.
