Lovely house in a great location

The house lived up to the description given on the Home Away site. We visited with 3 under 5’s and found that the bedrooms were well positioned and that any noise the adults made did not disturb them. The upstairs entertaining area is great. The kitchen/ dining room are well equipped with plenty of crockery and cutlery. It’s on a great location, a few minutes walk from the hotel. Lots of attractions in the surrounding areas for both adults and kids. Would recommend and revisit. As we travelled with children’s, a stair gate would have benefited us. The welcome pack was a nice touch. Thanks to Tracey who is very helpful and very easy to contact.

Great stay!

Very comfortable beds and very clean! Nice big house and great location. Welcome pack was a nice touch too. The owners / manager was good at replying to emails etc which was helpful. A couple of small negatives - front garden / terrace was not kept in good condition. Shame as might have been nice to sit out the front but too many weeds. Another thing is that the house sleeps 10 but there’s only room for 8 round dining table and only 8 seats in the lounge.

Plenty of room and all you need

The house was perfect for our needs. The pictures don't quite do it justice, either. The living room upstairs is very comfortable and we spent a night up late talking over wine and scotch. The dining room table downstairs was large with these big cushioned chairs that were inviting and grande, and we spent another late night there enjoying a card game. The kitchen was VERY well stocked and, though we'd bought our own because we didn't realize they'd supply so much, they left bread, butter, milk, and tea. I can't imagine what you'd want for in the kitchen; we were even able to make a cheese spread.

Plus, it's a perfect walk to Gleneagles, both the main building or the golf clubhouse. While the boys played, the girls enjoyed the spa.

**notewothy: we almost stayed at Gleneagles and are very glad we didn't. Aside from the communal aspect the VRBO afforded, Gleneagles smells heavily of cigarette smoke, especially in the lobby and a few other areas throughout. And don't expect to get good food there--they have a lot of restaurants but they're average quality and high priced. If you're deciding between the VRBO and Gleneagles, book the VRBO now!**

We did have issues getting in touch beforehand and I wondered for a minute whether we'd be able to even get in. Don't expect them to reply and you're golden. But they'll be interested in when you arrive and depart, and they'll leave a beautiful, clean, charming house for you to enjoy.

Lovely property

The property was well situated and easy to find. Well equipped kitchen more than one tea towel would've been good as on this occasion we forgot to bring our own. The living room has a good seating area for socialising after the days activities, a large screen tv. Bedrooms were well set out and as described in the facilities. The men enjoyed their golf, they had early tee times which they were glad of as there was a bit of a queue on the tee later in the day. We were disappointed when told by the hotel that we couldn't use the swimming facilities if we weren't staying at the hotel - that would be a big consideration if booking again as we had 4 children in our party. There's enough room to park 4 cars - 2 side by side at the bottom end of the drive. We had a fantastic 3 days celebrating a 60th birthday and will recommend the property to friends.

Gleneagles is situated in Auchterarder, in the heart of Scotland between Perth and Stirling on the A9. The property is easy to locate, just a one hour drive from the international airports of Edinburgh and Glasgow. If you prefer to travel by train, Gleneagles Station is on the main London to Inverness line.


Perth only 20 minutes away.

Edinburgh and Glasgow International Airports are within one hour by car.

Gleneagles main line rail station is a 5 minute drive.

The main A9 north south route is less than 5 minutes from the property.

Spa: 'The Gleneagles Retreat' at The Spa at Gleneagles by ESPA offer day spas to non hotel residents. Please contact the resort for details. Day Spa rates vary but as a guide are typically £150 per person and includes full use of the spa's facilities as well as the health club at Gleneagles, and a delicious and nutritious lunch at The Spa Cafe. Please note access to the pool/gym is normally only available to Hotel residents but can be accessed by non residents by booking a day spa. To book treatments, call The Spa.

A local Spa in Auchterader is also available: Thyme Out is a very friendly salon offering a wide range of professional treatments at reasonable prices for men and women. Specialist treatments such as Reflexology, Aromatherapy Massage, Hot Stones Massage, Indian Head Massage, Hopi-Ear Candling and Micro-Dermabrasion are also offered.

Finally, there is Crieff Hydro. This is around a 25-30min drive from the house, but they do some great deals on pamper packages, such as facial, massage, relaxing in the Victorian spa followed by lunch for around £75 per person.
