Trematon Holiday Home is located in a quite street on the hill above the historic town of Penryn with stunning sea views. The spacious and well appointed accommodation is ideal for the extended family and is perfectly located to explore the attractions of Cornwall.

A unique property and ideal for families and children of all ages, t has a 4 bedroom house with an attached annexe on the side. There is a short passage way which can be left open for those social times but also allows a bit of separation with their own lockable front doors.

The annexe has its own kitchen diner area and a bedroom with ensuite giving a total of two kitchens, two lounge areas and 3 bathrooms.

As you enter the house into the lobby you have the entrance doors to the main house and the annexe.

4 Bedroom House

Ground Floor:

On entering the property you have a large hallway with wood flooring, a antique wooden blanket box and a beautiful bentwood coat stand. The hallway has two doors off it, one leading into the lounge and the other into the open plan kitchen dinning room area.

The Lounge

The lounge is a comfortable and relaxing room with bay windows at the front of the house. With a three seater sofa, and two single seat chairs. Catching the morning sunshine this is the ideal place to sit and relax in the morning.

Open Plan Kitchen Diner

A beautiful kitchen renovated in 1950's style with high gloss cupboards and a primrose yellow feature wall. A delightful space to relax and socialize in.

A large dinning room table seats 8 people with a variety of recycled retro chairs. French doors lead out to a small enclosed garden which enjoys afternoon and early evening sunshine.

The kitchen has a large 5 burner gas cooker with a double oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and kettle. There is also a washing machine, a dryer and a small dish washer. There is a breakfast bar with two stools and a stereo.

This is a really sociable space, ideal for cooking up a big feed and socializing at the same time.

First Floor

On the first floor there are three bedrooms, a bathroom and separate toilet.

Bedroom 1

Master Bedroom: A large double bedroom with deep red decor which is beautifully toned by gold and bronze curtains and artwork. The bay windows frame the sea views. This bedroom enjoys a luxury super king size bed, antique wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Bedroom 2

A full sized room located at the back of the house with two single beds, a wardrobe and drawers.

Bedroom 3

The third bedroom on this floor is a single room with a single bed and a pull out bed extension, allowing two people to sleep comfortably. The room has a chest of drawers and a book case with an eclectic mix of children's books available for some new holiday reading.

About Anna Barrington

Hi, Pete, myself and Sam (our 12 year old son) enjoy Cornwall for all it fantastic attractions, stunning walks and historic fishing villages. We will even tell you about some or the secret spots only the locals frequent. We hope you enjoy your holiday in Cornwall as much as we enjoy living here. Anna

Anna Barrington purchased this house in 2002

Why Anna Barrington chose Penryn

This house is an ideal mix of town and rural living. Beautiful sea views and surrounding countryside but still a short walk to town. A really vibrant and eclectic local community. It is ideally placed to explore both the rocky North Coast and the quaint South Coast. Some of Cornwall's iconic attractions are just a stones throw away.

What makes this house unique

Trematon is a large property of four rooms with an attached annexe. Both the house and the annexe are self-contained with their own facilities (kitchen, bathroom, lounge etc). They share the same front door but have separate entrances into each area. This makes them ideal for large groups enjoying time away together but where one couple can have a bit of quiet time if needed.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had a lovely stay at Trematon, the house is perfectly located to visit lots of different attractions around Cornwall. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the kitchen, the prime spot being by the French doors in the large sofa chair. Thanks to Pete and Anna for helping us find some less known places to visit to avoid the busy crowds. We would definitely recommend this holiday home" Ian and Wendy April 2012

Beautiful view from the front room, plenty of space for large groups

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 9 adults and 1 baby. There was space for everyone. The annex worked perfectly for my husband and I with our baby as we could keep all the baby stuff out of the main house.

A few minor issues were rectified immediately once I spoke to the owners.

There is no BBQ which we made the mistake of assuming there would be and the outside seating area is small but by opening up the patio doors we could fit.

great family house

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights in september. The owners were very accomodating in giving us a short break. The house is in a great position with fantastic views over the harbour and easy access to the local supermarket and falmouth. The accommodation is of a good standard although the chairs in the living room could maybe do with updating. There were lots of games and children's books which were great for keeping the kids amused in the rain.

Falmouth holiday

  • 4 of 5

The house was as described, very spacious and clean, the kitchen was great as was the main bedroom and it has a great view down to the harbour.

The train station is a five minute walk from the house so you don't have to worry about driving everywhere, all in all a great family home for holidays.

Lovely Family Holiday

  • 4 of 5

We found this house was perfect for our family holiday consisting of four adults and two children under ten. The house itself was very clean and very well presented, with enough room to sit everyone at the dinning table for a family meal. There's a great view of the penryn river and harbours from the lounge and front bedrooms. The location gave easy access to Falmouth and nearby beaches, as well as local attractions such as Glendurgan and Trebah gardens. Both are worth a visit to keep kids entertained with exploring the trails, clambering around like monkeys and paddling in the water as both gardens have pebble beaches at the bottom of the valley. Also worth a mention is the nearby Lemon Arms at Mylor, with lovely homemade food and fresh seafood. Like the Pandora Inn, you will need to phone ahead to book a table.

There are numerous beaches to choose from in the local area, the closet is 6km away. Choose from North Coast, ideal for surfing and stunning cliffs walks. Or the South Coast with delightful Cornish fishing villages and beaches ideal for the family.

The nearest airport is Newquay (10.6 km). Nearest train station is Penryn (0.4 km). Nearest ferry is Plymouth (110 km). We recommend a car for getting around.

Trematon holiday home is well placed to visit all Cornwall's holiday attractions. Penryn town is 0.5 miles away. Falmouth is 3 miles away. Local attractions include National Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle, Enys Gardens, Helford river with Trebah and Glendurgan gardens. Flambards holiday park, BF Adventure activity centre, sailing schools and water sports, cliff walks, St Anthony's Lighthouse, Pandora Inn, Trelissick gardens and the King Harry Ferry. And lots more!

Further Details:

A beautiful small town that is steeped in history, Penryn has now developed into a centre for creative arts that has spilled out from the local university campus. Located at the head of Penryn river, the town was a medieval port and this history is clearly visible as you stroll around the town . With a number of artisan shops and a sustainable development at Jubilee Wharf including shops, businesses and a charming waterside cafe. Raze the Roof, a large indoor play area and Granite Planet Climbing Wall are both very close to Trematon Holiday home and are perfect for those rainy days.

Neighbouring Falmouth has the National Maritime Museum, Falmouth Aquarium, Pendennis Castle, boats to St Mawes and a good selection of shops and eateries including Rick Steins fish restaurant.

A short drive away are the villages of Flushing and Mylor. Both waterside locations with great walks and traditional pubs. The Pandora Inn at Restronguet, Mylor is hard to beat, a 14th century thatched pub with a pontoon on the water.

Whether you enjoy a busy active holiday or you want to put you feet up and watch the world go by Cornwall will offer you these luxuries. Enjoy a stroll around one of the many Cornish fishing villages whilst dining on a traditional Cornish pasty. The north coast is a popular destination for surfers, and there is also numerous quality golf courses and fine dining. There are a number of cycle paths that snake there way through the county and are an excellent way to view the countryside. World class attractions include the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Minack Theatre to name but a few.
