About Theresa Peters

Brian and Theresa live in the main house next to the cottage.

Theresa Peters purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Theresa Peters chose Penrith, East Lakes & Eden Valley

We bought the cottage and the adjoining house in October 2011, after having rented the cottage for many holidays from the previous owners.

Red Syke House and Cottage are located off a quiet lane and benefits from a very large tranquil garden that has wonderful views from every vantage point,

The Lake District is extraordinarily beautiful and to us is the perfect place to live.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is situated within the Lake District National Park and is surrounded on all sides by spectacular scenery,

but is still only 15 minutes by car from Penrith and Keswick. Red Syke makes an ideal location for single holiday makers, couples and families.

Whether you want to spend a quiet afternoon sitting in the garden reading, or looking out for a passing Red squirrel or in the Spring watching the new lambs in the adjoining fields, the cottage makes the perfect base to enjoy the Northern Lakes.

We hope to welcome you to Red Syke soon.

Guestbook comments from the owner

A pleasure to stay in a well equipped cottage. Absolutely perfect. Brian and Theresa couldn't be more helpful or friendly, perfect hosts. Lots of places in the area to visit. Food at the Horse & Farrier amazing. Beware if you go up Great Mell Fell - The wild horses chase you! A pleasure to be part of this way of life, if only for a week.

Christmas spent in a fanatic location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay at Red Syke. Some time had been spent on setting up the Christmas tree and decorations which was greatly appreciated. The rear garden has great views and is like a mini nature reserve (all comments made in previous reviews are spot on). All rooms are absolutely immaculate and spotless and the kitchen is very well equipped. The owners were very helpful and nothing seems too much trouble they took delivery of our internet grocery shop 4 days before we arrived which helped us immensely as we were not arriving until late Christmas Eve. We have stayed at various locations within the Lake District over the past 15 years or so but would probably rate Red Syke as the best for quality and value for money. Looking forward to our next stay.

Red Syke Cottage. Cumbria

  • 4 of 5

One week booking, the cottage was very nice, in a lovely location.

A lock on the bathroom door would be nice.

Never been charged for electricity used before.

Owner's Response: Dear Anon, We are glad you liked the cottage and its location and thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate any feedback that can help us to improve guests experience. With respect to a lock on the bath room door we often have family's with young children staying so have to consider their safety and therefore have not fitted a lock previously. However, we are looking into finding one that is suitable. With regard to the charge for the electricity we have taken the view that rather than raise the weekly price for all guests to cover the cost it is fairer to just charge for the electricity used each week. We also going to check if the T&Cs attached to the booking confirmation are clear in respect of this. Regards, Theresa and Brian
