House in Dournazac, Haute Vienne, Limousin - Nestled Within The Parc Naturel Régional Périgord Limousin - S. Facing With Stunning Panoramic Views

L'ancien paradis sits on the edge of a tiny hamlet and has dominant panoramic views over ancient woodland and Grand Jaques the tower of Chateau Montbrun which rises from the trees - the chateau to which Richard coeur de Lion was brought having been fatally wounded in Chalus. The countryside around here resonates with history and the local area is interlaced with many foot and cycle paths by which the area can be explored - the most interesting of which is surely the mown track leading through cornfields directly from the house to the Chateau bar/ restaurant which hosts Jazz or blues bands on Friday evenings. The local village, with basic provisions, is 2 mins away by car and there are several larger towns with supermarkets and restaurants within a ten minute drive. Should the table tennis, pool, or Wii not prove entertainment enough many further activities such as go-karting, paintball, acrobois and swimming lakes can be found within a 20 minute drive from the house and the Dordogne with all of it's own attractions is right on the doorstep.

About Matthew Bradley

We moved to France from London in 1993 with our 3 yr old son Alfie. We now have 3 of them and a dog.

An actor in England, Matt continued his TV career for the first few years over here, travelling back to England in the back of removal vans -in the days when Ryanair was but a distant dream! He is still often recognised and is more than happy to share his reminiscences with anyone who can offer a bottle of wine and ears.

Having put the building business to bed,in 2010, after 13yrs, Matt decided to set up as a hynotherapist, having stopped 45 people from smoking whilst on a 4mth stay in Goa in 2012.

Alfie is resident sculptor at the British Ironworks where in 2013 he made a 4m high gorilla out of spoons for Uri Geller and is now creating an angel out of knives surrendered in UK anmesties

Why Matthew Bradley chose Rochechouart area

We first spotted the house over 10yrs ago, whilst renovating a barn in the same hamlet and had always hankered after it, given the stunning views and tranquil location. Fortunately we were lucky enough to be able to buy it when it became available some years later.

If anywhere encapsulates the history, enigmatic beauty and mystery of La France Profonde then this is it. It is unbelievably tranquil and without any road noise and if you don't believe us then ask Brad Pitt (Brad Pip as the neighbour called him) and Angelina who visited the chateau twice only a couple of years ago with a view to buy.

Sadly they decided to rent in Provence but tales are still told in La Taverne where they ate and supersize photographic evidence remains in the local bowling alley they visited with their kids!

What makes this cottage unique

We live in a town 30 mins away so are on hand should you need us for anything.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: The pool will be heated May, June, July, August, September and October. Logs for the wood-burning stove are available, if wanted, at a cost of 15€ per day. Outside: The south facing garden is fenced and gated with a centrally placed private 8X4m ,heated, inground pool. The pool isn't fenced and has only alarm protection and although it can be closely monitored from the kitchen, living room and ensuite bedroom windows we would'nt advise rental to people whose children can't swim. There are four comfortable sun loungers on the pool terrace and rotin furniture and large parasol on the house terrace - both of which enjoy full sun all day long. At the end of the garden is a full size ping-pong table, flat land which is ideal for playing football or other ball games and a charcoal BBQ. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels are included in the rental price, with the exception of pool towels.

Beautiful, peaceful location

We had a great week staying in this beautiful farmhouse. It is situated in a very quiet area with stunning scenery. It was plenty big enough for two families - 4 adults and 3 children. We had a few problems with the pool heating, but the owners were great at trying to help us. The local taverne does good food, although the menu was the same lunch and evening. There is a nearby swimming lake with playground and other activities such as mini golf which the children enjoyed. There is a local supermarket and bakery only a short drive away. Limoges is an easy day trip. The house has a good supply of books and games and we enjoyed the terrace in the evenings.

stunning house in a beautiful setting

The property was stunning, had all we needed in the houswefor us to enjoy our week there. The pool was a fantastic bonus, and we enjoyed many hours of ping pong (albeit competitive at times). The surroundings were beautiful and so peaceful, which is what we wanted, to enjoy some real family time. There was a restaurant just down the road and we enjoyed our first evening meal there, the service was great and the food was amazing. We did a little bit of site seeing, but to be honest we didn't need to as the weather was fantastic and we chilled in the garden, which was very private.

Would definitely recommend staying in this fantastic house.

Hopefully we will return one day

Perfect in every way

We had such a lovely holiday at this gorgeous house. The pool is so warm you can swim first thing in the morning, in the rain if that happens and late night too! There is an abundance of books and DVDs for the kids and adults. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the house is so spacious. The walk through the field to the taverna is a lovely bonus and the surrounding countryside is peaceful and picturesque. I hope we return one day. Thank you Mathew and Helen.

Relaxing family holiday, superb location

The children, aged 8,12,13 and 15 loved the pool, the garden and the outside space and we loved the views and the beautiful countryside. The house is lovely and Matt and Helen were very welcoming.

When the children could be persuaded out of the pool there is lots to do locally either wonderful walks from the house or visits to the local parc de losirs, chateaux, zoo, caves and beautiful towns and villages.

The area is beautiful and felt like it had everything for tourists without ever feeling 'touristy'. We had a great time and would gladly recommend the region and this property in particular

Fantastic holiday

We had a great week at the house. Kids were in the pool every day and made use of the large garden. Loads of great books as well as DVDs for the kids at the house. The location is amazing and so peaceful. Also lots to do in the local area from swimming in lakes to visiting caves. Wish I was still there! Love to come back again.

Excellent property in beautiful location. Owners on hand for any problems and very friendly. Easy driving in the area, hardly any other cars. Wished we'd booked for two weeks.
