Whether you are in search of a relaxing getaway or an active excursion, Chateau de La Celle-Guenand will provide you with a unique experience.
Chateau de La Celle Guenand has been in our family since 2008. We've undertaken work and ongoing maintenance of the chateau and outbuildings. We started up a B&B and self-catering Accommodation business in 2009 to invest in the restoration of this 15th century property. We really enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life. Come visit us soon, we look forward to meeting you!
Stephen Palluel purchased this chateau / country house in 2008
For two years we searched for the perfect French retreat. A special place where our family and friends would love to stay. A place where, when you arrive, you smile and feel all warm inside. That place we found is chateau de La Celle-Guenand. Quietly situated in the heart of the Touraine country-side, our property is perfectly located to visit the many wonders of the Loire Valley.
Visitors who make the effort to visit our region are rewarded with lovely scenery, rolling hills, charming villages and, in general, a less frenetic atmosphere than the rest of the Loire Valley. Our village has a corner store / bar. Larger supermarkets are within 20 minutes drive. There are very good restaurants nearby. All the cultural activities of the Loire Valley are on the door step.
Being Australian and not having stayed in any really old buildings I was really looking forward to staying here on my first visit to Europe. We loved the Chateau but where overwhelmed by the magnificent dinner provided by Stephane. The other dinner guests, including ourselves made it seem like a scene from an Agatha Christie novel. Highly recommend this Chateau and definitely book in for dinner.
Wow - what a terrific place to stay.
Stephen has certainly set up his Chateau to give you both a historic experience mixed with modern day comforts. The Chateau (or Castle for other Australians), is surrounded by beautiful gardens and some unbelievable caves and tunnels for exploring.
Our family of six enjoyed staying in two room that we perfectly outfitted. We would certainly recommend dining in the Chateau and experiencing Stephen's delightful French cuisine, with many products sourced from the garden or grown locally.
The village of Loches was also a treat with many charming locals. Our family went for many runs and walks around the area.
