Lovely cottage in a great location for exploring the beautiful Norfolk countryside. Recommend the deli at Thornham and Wells next to sea

A pretty little cottage

  • 5 of 5

Very clean, well equipped. The information folder was very informative.

one big advantage was the cottage was not cluttered with ornaments etc,. while I admit this can be attractive in your own home. In a holiday cottage those renting do need space on shelves to put their own belongings. this cottage allows for that.

Cracking little cottage in a great village.

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a weeks stay at Tawny Cottage in Heacham. The cottage is cosy but more than enough for our needs, and has a great south facing enclosed front garden to relax in the evening. We are a family with a 10wk old and a 5yr old, and a cocker spaniel so all our needs were catered for. The position in the village is great, equal distance between 2 pubs, I recommend the Bushel and Strike for the garden in the sunshine. There are shops and food outlets just minutes from the door, and the beach is a pleasant 20 min stroll. Heacham is a great place to base yourself for the North Norfolk coast and I have no doubt we will return soon.

Perfect little cottage in a perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was cosy, clean and well equipped. We had everything we needed and it was good to stay in a village with local amenities such as convenience store, takeaways and pubs nearby, as well as being able to walk to the sea. Pity we only had a long weekend but would come again for a week and bring our bicycles.

first visit

  • 4 of 5

just returned from a weekend away - cottage was ideal for the two of us - very nice welcome pack - location was very good - easy walk to shops and the FOX and HOUNDS PH ( nice pub meals enjoyable - good selection of real ales ) first time we had visited HEACHAM - nice village ( but very spread out ) had a nice trip out to WELLS NEXT THE SEA - then evening meal at the FOX AND HOUNDS - did not do to much on the sunday ( raining ) but had a fantastic sunday lunch at the LODGE IN OLD HUNSTANTON

the only criticism of the cottage ( and only giving 4 stars ) was the FUSTY smell from the outhouse - but would certainly revisit the cottage

Location

Coast/Beach:

1 mile to Heacham beach or 15 minutes walk (sand and shingle)

2 miles to Hunstanton beach (mostly sand)

Long open stretches of sandy beach for which north Norfolk is so well known start from 2 miles away.

Distances:

Hunstanton town is a popular tourist resort and is located two miles from Heacham.

Kings Lynn is 11 miles away and the market town of Fakenham is 20 miles from Heacham.

Norfolks capital city of Norwich is about 37 miles away and takes just over 1 hour to get there but its well worth a visit.

Further Details:

Tawny Cottage is well located for shops as the village of Heacham hosts a good variety of butchers, bakers, pubs and restaurants. The post office is very nearby along with a fish monger and a Tesco express. Larger supermarkets can be found in nearby Hunstanton.
