Everything needed is there in the property which is clean and tidy.Would recommend this property to family and friends. Not a great choice for eating in the village but drive out a short distance in any direction and restaurants can be found easily

Beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd visit to this beautiful little villa. We absolutely love it!!! Jill makes us so welcome it's like coming home. The villa is set in a beautiful walled garden . The pool is a luxury for a one bedded villa and we made great use of it. The weather was amazing. We work six days a week so wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing and that's exactly what we found, hence our return visits. The village is a short walk away and the locals make you feel very welcome. If you are looking for a romantic, relaxing away from it all then this is for you!! We will be back.

Fabulously Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

We had just one week to get away from it all, and we did just that. This place is certainly compact, but very comfortable and the pool is great. An unusually good gas barbie ( which is needed; the kitchen is tiny!) completes the facilities.

It's a lovely area which we know well, and this is a great place for a couple to chill out completely.

Lovely Break Away

  • 4 of 5

We booked to stay at the cottage for a week away with our little boy (22 months). I saw the cottage on Owners Direct but the majority of the booking process was completed with e-mails to and from the owner Jill who was quick to reply and very friendly and helpful.

The cottage is what I would call traditional portugese, and we loved this. The decor is simple and the facilities are basic but all you need for a short break away. If you are looking for built in appliances and all the mod cons, maybe not for you.

The owner Jill and her son were there upon our arrival and made us feel welcome and made sure that we had everything that we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Jill had even made up the travel cot for our son, with bedding and welcomed us into her home to pick some childrens dvd's for him to watch and Gabriel was instantly at ease.

Unfortunately for us the first few days of our stay were a bit rainy and if you aren't the kind of person that just gets the waterproofs on and makes the most of it then this cottage may not suit you if the weather during your stay is wet as there is little to do at the cottage other than watch a dvd. We made the most of it, we had a hire car and visited differen't towns and sightseeing spots. It was still warm and out son loved being out and about. Jill offered to babysit our son so we could go out in the evening but we never got around to it. Our son Gabriel was in his element at the cottage playing with the dog, Tammy, and on the play area in the garden at his own leisure.

The cottage in the sunshine is a tranquil paradise and the location is perfect (with a hire car) for beaches and local areas of interest. When Jill is around she will offer information and make sure you have everything you need. We really enjoyed our stay and would book the cottage again for a short break away or romantic getaway.

Thank you Jill, we had a wonderful time and would visit again xx

Ideal Location

  • 4 of 5

Ideal location to explore Algarve with West Coast only 1hr 15mins drive. Airport 20 mins. Beaches 30 mins. Hills 30 mins.Cottage clean and comfortable and offered all we needed including pool. Owner who lives in main property could not have been more accomodating and was there on hand if we needed anything. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Idyllic Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

The listing of this property is probably too modest, although it can be thoroughly trusted. If you like what you read in the listing then this is the perfect place for you. The property and its grounds are exceptionally maintained, the setting is rural, the peace and quiet wonderful as were the hostess and her family whom you can see as much or little of as you wish. The stroll to the village of Bordeira is picturesque and the village is very olde worlde but the locals welcoming. The food in the village is good without being exceptional but hey 3 courses and a carafe of wine for two people at 16 euros is tremendous. All round we loved it, so much so that within two days of our return to the Uk we booked it again and the flights for 10 days next June as 7 just wasn't enough. It is the first holiday that we have had in many years where we came home refreshed, we all must have heard the conversation "Did you have a good holiday?" "Yeah, but I need another to get over it"... Not here, not a bit of it, it's brill and we are already counting down to our return.

From the Owner

Previous to this property I had one on the coast, however I wanted to move to a more rural, cultural area. Although I am in a small village, it is near to everything you could need, and therefore there is an ease to get to the more touristy parts of the Algarve.

Activity and Interests

Car: necessary

The cottage is a 20 minute drive to the many beaches of the Algarve, from the famous Julias beach between Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Largo, to the beaches around Vilamoura.

In the other direction you are 20 minutes away from Tavira where there are plenty of lovely beaches and things to do.

Faro airport is a 15 minute drive.

Car hire is highly recommended.

A five minute walk leads you to the village of Bordeira. Drive 10 minutes to the historic market town of Loule.

Sao Bras and Santa Barbara are also close by.

Travelling in the opposite direction is the lovely town of Tavira, with many beaches in the area.

Fuzeta and Olhao are before Tavira.

Faro, the capital of the Algarve, is 15 minutes away.

Further Details:

In the village of Bordeira there is a fabulous local restaurant.

On the outskirts of Loule there is a large supermarket.

Lidl is on the way to Sao Bras.

Saturdays is the local market in Loule.
