LucioeLucia - Room with a View. Studio With Terrace Overlooking The Rooftops

Updated: 05-Dec-2016
Studio Apartment in Offida, Marche, Italy- A Cosy House In The Heart Of Offida With A View On The Towers And the Countryside

The apartment and its large terrace is located behind the Palace and the Theatre: the tower and the steeples of the six churches in the historic town centre measure up to the beautiful landscape, which has different colours in each season. The studio apartment is at the fourth floor of an old building. The breath-taking terrace is the true marvel of the apartment: here you are above the roofs, you can dominate the old city and embrace a panorama that includes the wonderful Marche countryside to the mountains of the Marche and Abruzzo, here you can soak up the sun in complete privacy and have breakfast watching Santa Maria della Rocca or dinner at sunset, while the first lights of the Piazza del Popolo turn on. The apartment has recently been renovated (2012) using carefully chosen materials, finishes and quality furniture; you can find privacy, comfort, quality and attention to detail.

About the Owner

The terrace touches me, sets off very strong feelings in me. There is a wide world here, a sky that seems endless.

Being at the same time in History, alive and present, as evidenced by pink limestone bricks of the land of Offida that, all around, many men before us have composed in the walls and towers that have been here for centuries, and the Landscape that suck you in; your gaze is lost to the Sibillini Mountains, to the gentle hills covered with rows of vines and olive trees, which change colour and light in the different seasons and at different times of day.

The Industriousness of man, his ingenuity and the beauty of the Italian Landscape here are together; although I have stayed at this house for several years, the characteristic of this environment always surprises me, it never becomes repetitious.

I do not live in Offida, but when it’s possible I come back here just to have a glass of wine, perhaps at sunset; even my friends love it and with them we spend many summer evenings watching the stars and chatting.

From the Owner

I was born in Offida, although I currently live in Grottammare with my husband Lucio and my daughter Caterina. I inherited from my father this little apartment, that was built by my grandfather, a bricklayer, on supporting walls of an old house in the historic center. As an architect, in the restoration of the apartment, I used my professional experience.

If elsewhere tourism has become an industry, here it still has a "crafted" character- more liveable and personalized.

Many medieval small towns, with deep traditions and important history, are all around: in summer period each of them has medieval representation or musical and opera evenings; above all Ascoli Piceno and its beautiful travertine (a white marble) square.

The hilly landscape appears like a mosaic of cultivated lands where towns and villages are situated with all their historical centre.

20 kilometers and 20 minutes away from Adriatic Sea, San Benedetto del Tronto, Cupramarittima and Grottammare, with their long seafront and wide promenades lined with hundreds of palm trees.

Grottammare: the mild climate, the beach with its fine golden sand, the alleyways and natural "balconies" of the medieval town have always attracted people in search of a holiday with a human dimension.

The nature Of 3 National Parks is few minutes away.

The main feature of province of Ascoli Piceno is the extreme variety of landscapes, from the beaches of the Adriatic to the Appennine mountain chain of the Sibillini and Monti della Laga, with peaks of over 2000 meters altitude. The landscape is dominated by rolling hills dotted with small villages of medieval origin.

Ascoli Piceno, whose origin dates to the neo-neolithic age. According to the ancient latin poets the city was founded by the Sabini after a ritual migration, they were guided by a woodpecker and for this reason they were called Piceni. Protected by two rivers on three sides, the town has a gorgeous historical centre entirely built up with the travertine stone which holds important sites dating both to the roman, medieval and reinassance period;

The romanesque-gothic testimonies of the ancient monastic-benedictine sites and the splendour of the XVIII century villas;

The frescoes of Master of Offida or the paintings of the venetian Carlo Crivelli and his pupils;

Besides its art treasures, the Piceno area is rich in gourmet specialities: the green olives and the excellent Olive oil, cheese and salami are still produced locally, the local wines bearing the DOC trade mark, the Falerio and the Rosso Piceno Superiore; the famous Anisetta Meletti.

In some restaurants and farmhouses you will taste the traditional recipes of the local cuisine, such as the famous olive ascolane, the Campofilone handmade pasta, the fish soup.

The Piceno is among the richest italian provinces in historical re-evocations of medieval origin; the most important is the Quintana.
