LucioeLucia - Room with a View. Studio With Terrace Overlooking The Rooftops

Updated: 05-Dec-2016
Studio Apartment in Offida, Marche, Italy- A Cosy House In The Heart Of Offida With A View On The Towers And the Countryside

The apartment and its large terrace is located behind the Palace and the Theatre: the tower and the steeples of the six churches in the historic town centre measure up to the beautiful landscape, which has different colours in each season. The studio apartment is at the fourth floor of an old building. The breath-taking terrace is the true marvel of the apartment: here you are above the roofs, you can dominate the old city and embrace a panorama that includes the wonderful Marche countryside to the mountains of the Marche and Abruzzo, here you can soak up the sun in complete privacy and have breakfast watching Santa Maria della Rocca or dinner at sunset, while the first lights of the Piazza del Popolo turn on. The apartment has recently been renovated (2012) using carefully chosen materials, finishes and quality furniture; you can find privacy, comfort, quality and attention to detail.

About the Owner

The terrace touches me, sets off very strong feelings in me. There is a wide world here, a sky that seems endless.

Being at the same time in History, alive and present, as evidenced by pink limestone bricks of the land of Offida that, all around, many men before us have composed in the walls and towers that have been here for centuries, and the Landscape that suck you in; your gaze is lost to the Sibillini Mountains, to the gentle hills covered with rows of vines and olive trees, which change colour and light in the different seasons and at different times of day.

The Industriousness of man, his ingenuity and the beauty of the Italian Landscape here are together; although I have stayed at this house for several years, the characteristic of this environment always surprises me, it never becomes repetitious.

I do not live in Offida, but when it’s possible I come back here just to have a glass of wine, perhaps at sunset; even my friends love it and with them we spend many summer evenings watching the stars and chatting.

We had a very memorable stay at your beautiful apartment. The view from the terrace is so breathtaking that we ate all our meals there. In the evening we watched the sun set and enjoyed the wine you so graciously gave us. The apartment is the most attractive of any of the many apartments that we have stayed in during our many trips to different regions of Italy. We will come back to the charming town of Offida and to your perfect apartment.

This is a delightful apartment with fantastic views over Offida and across to the far mountains.

We had a first rate week in and around Offida and were treated to waking in the morning to snow in the distant mountains and spectacular lightening overnight. The food at the Cantina Offida was very good. The local people were very friendly and accommodating. Lucia and Lucio were charming and were ready with a bottle of local wine to greet both of us, Just the job after 15 hours traveling.

The location is superb. So is the appartment. There is a new restaurant in the village square. Try it. Only one minute walk.

Lucia and Lucio are the perfect hosts. Whatever question you have, they'll answer it.

Thank you both for a lovely stay.

Can't praise this holiday enough!

  • 5 of 5

Great little apartment with everything you need to cater for yourself, although there are so many lovely places to eat nearby you probably won't want to! Lucia and Lucio (the apartment owners) met us on the day we arrived and showed us lots of things to do and places to go. They obviously know the area very well and are very friendly. We have had a great holiday here, and will definitely return!

La vita è bella

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed two wonderful weeks in this beautiful and comfortable apartment with its astonishing views over the medieval Offida.

Lucia and Lucio are great hosts, not only very kind but also very helpful with great advises for beautiful trips and good food.

We didn't know the Marche very well and were pleasantly surprised by its beauty and diversity.

Price / quality of the apartment is great.

We will recommend it to all our friends and we hope some day to return.

Thank you Lucia and Lucio for this unique residence!

Comfortable apartment, terrace with lovely views over town and attractive countryside

  • 5 of 5

The apartment has everything for a comfortable stay, clean and well equipped, with local shops, cafes and restaurants very close by and many church bells to wake you. Lucio made us very welcome, sharing pizza and wine, showing us how to haul the suitcases up 4 floors by pulley and telling us about places to visit locally. Take note that there are over 60 steps up to the apartment but the terrace is wonderful at any time of day. Sadly we never met Lucia as we arrived later than planned but she was extremely helpful throughout, always available by text/ email and her English is excellent.

Offida is a pleasant place, surrounded by rolling hills and distant snow topped mountains. Parking can be a problem at busy times, we were there on the Sunday of the Fusello d'Oro festival. Highlight of Offida is the S. Maria della Rocca Church, situated at a peaceful end of the town. Look out for events at the theatre, worth a visit.

Would recommend trips to Ascoli Piceno, the Sibiline Mountains and tour of places such as Castignano, Rotella, Cossignano, Ripatrasone and on to Grottammare on the coast, not too far and fairly easy driving.

This was our first visit to Le Marche, a very rural and pleasant region. We tried the local dishes, eating at Ophis restaurant, right next to apartment. Cantina del'Olma, also close, served its own wine with appetisers, good food and enough if only want light meal. Particularly enjoyed Ciu Ciu, tasting of 5 wines, with extra Offida red thrown in, for €5 with appetisers, definitely good value and good experience.

Would definitely recommend at stay this apartment.

From the Owner

I was born in Offida, although I currently live in Grottammare with my husband Lucio and my daughter Caterina. I inherited from my father this little apartment, that was built by my grandfather, a bricklayer, on supporting walls of an old house in the historic center. As an architect, in the restoration of the apartment, I used my professional experience.

If elsewhere tourism has become an industry, here it still has a "crafted" character- more liveable and personalized.

Many medieval small towns, with deep traditions and important history, are all around: in summer period each of them has medieval representation or musical and opera evenings; above all Ascoli Piceno and its beautiful travertine (a white marble) square.

The hilly landscape appears like a mosaic of cultivated lands where towns and villages are situated with all their historical centre.

20 kilometers and 20 minutes away from Adriatic Sea, San Benedetto del Tronto, Cupramarittima and Grottammare, with their long seafront and wide promenades lined with hundreds of palm trees.

Grottammare: the mild climate, the beach with its fine golden sand, the alleyways and natural "balconies" of the medieval town have always attracted people in search of a holiday with a human dimension.

The nature Of 3 National Parks is few minutes away.

The main feature of province of Ascoli Piceno is the extreme variety of landscapes, from the beaches of the Adriatic to the Appennine mountain chain of the Sibillini and Monti della Laga, with peaks of over 2000 meters altitude. The landscape is dominated by rolling hills dotted with small villages of medieval origin.

Ascoli Piceno, whose origin dates to the neo-neolithic age. According to the ancient latin poets the city was founded by the Sabini after a ritual migration, they were guided by a woodpecker and for this reason they were called Piceni. Protected by two rivers on three sides, the town has a gorgeous historical centre entirely built up with the travertine stone which holds important sites dating both to the roman, medieval and reinassance period;

The romanesque-gothic testimonies of the ancient monastic-benedictine sites and the splendour of the XVIII century villas;

The frescoes of Master of Offida or the paintings of the venetian Carlo Crivelli and his pupils;

Besides its art treasures, the Piceno area is rich in gourmet specialities: the green olives and the excellent Olive oil, cheese and salami are still produced locally, the local wines bearing the DOC trade mark, the Falerio and the Rosso Piceno Superiore; the famous Anisetta Meletti.

In some restaurants and farmhouses you will taste the traditional recipes of the local cuisine, such as the famous olive ascolane, the Campofilone handmade pasta, the fish soup.

The Piceno is among the richest italian provinces in historical re-evocations of medieval origin; the most important is the Quintana.
