Guestbook comments from the owner

"A lovely house to enjoy a family get together here in Padstow! Very clean and welcoming. A great base for exploring the area. A particular highlight was the cycle ride along the Camel Trail and the beautiful beaches brought days of enjoyment!"

"Thank you for the lovely welcome pack, the sparkling wine went down a treat! Lovely house, finished to an exceptional standard, the 4 en-suites were a blessing. Despite the weather, we had a brilliant time and wouldn't hesitate returning. Thank you!"

"The very warm welcome was much appreciated. The house is a complete home from home, very comfortable and spacious, warm and cosy. There appears to be nothing that has been overlooked. Beds are extremely comfortable. Look forward to staying again!"

Fantastic break

  • 5 of 5

This lovely modern and comfortable house was the best venue for our girlie get together. We had a relaxed and fantastic weekend together. The house was perfect for us, and the rooms were amazing. The best nights sleep I've had in a long time..

Ideally situated for a leisurely stroll down to the town, where we enjoyed an evening of fun. Small taxi ride home.

Padstow is a beautiful town and has some brilliant shops and lovely cream teas..

The kitchen in this lovely house was the hub of our holiday..

Amazing house in an amazing setting..

Location

From the Owner

We bought Porthcressa from Robs parents and spent most of 2010 refurbishing it to how it looks today. We love living in Padstow and couldn't live anywhere else! We particularly enjoy walking out in the cliffs and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

The historic town is a delight, with its fleet of fishing vessels, colourful buildings and narrow streets. Historically the town was a very busy commercial fishing village, and today has a unique charm all of its own and offers a wide range of holiday activities to suit both the young and the young at heart! Many of the restaurants have a daily supply of fresh fish, as a result of such a local fishing fleet. There are many holiday activities available from the harbour area to visitors. These include a high-powered speedboat trip, a more leisurely cruise aboard the ‘Jubilee Queen’, a ferry trip across to Rock (and visit St Enodoc church where Sir John Betjeman is buried), or a family fishing trip around the bay. There is also are local surf schools which you can find at Harlyn Bay and Trevone Beach.

The town offers an agreeable mix of retail outlets including fashion boutiques, craft and souvenirs, and home furnishings, all nestled amongst its quaint narrow streets. Also on offer is an amazing array of places to eat while you are on holiday, catering for all tastes and pockets! One of the most well known is Rick Stein with his world famous Seafood Restaurant. He now has several other eateries in the town including St Petroc’s Bistro, The Cafe, Seafood Cookery School and his own Fish and Chip shop!

Others include Margot’s Bistro, , No 6, The Basement and Rojanos in the Square. There are also many public houses that offer good pub food as well as locally brewed ales and even fine wine from- the Camel Valley Vineyard. What better than a glass of Champagne and a view of Padstow harbour? BinTwo the local wine merchant, offers a wide selection of wines. And don’t forget to sample a Cornish pasty!

Facilities

From the Owner

Porthcressa has a beautiful contemporary conservatory area which we often spend a long evening dining with friends, looking at the views and generally enjoying the space. Porthcressa is in an ideal location, slightly out of the main hustle and bustle of the town, ensuring that parking and noise is not an issue, but close enough for a scenic short stroll into Padstow via the Camel Trail. We are also situated within a couple of hundred yards of Tesco for all your food shopping and within 100 yards of the bus stop, so if you don't fancy a walk back up the hill, just hop on the local bus!
