About Rutger Kriek

I am 50 years old Dutch citizen. I was born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I have two sisters and one brother. My father was a famous knee surgeon and my mother had her own practice as attorney at law.

I am tax lawyer by profession. 12 years ago I relocated with my family to Nicosia in Cyprus, where I was offered a job with a financial services company. In September 2012 I set up my own fiduciary services company called Equation Corporate Services (www.equationcs.com). I am hapilly married, I am a real family man, and I have three wonderful children in the ages of 6, 11 and 13.

Why Rutger Kriek chose Paphos & Suburbs

The reason for buying this property was that we wanted to add a 'coastal dimension' to our life in Cyprus. Nicosia is a pleasant place to live, but what is lacking is the sea and this is what we find every time we visit our house in Emba. From convenience and distance point of view it would have made more sense to buy a house in Larnaca, Limassol or Agia Napa as these cities are closer to Nicosia, but to us the Paphos area is the most beautiful area in Cyprus, due to its attractive coast line including Coral Bay beach, which is very close to our house in Emba, the Akamas peninsula and its magnificent hinterland in general. It is an extra drive but it is more than worth it. The house is situated on a hill 200 metres above sea level and this offer extra cooling during the summer.

What makes this villa unique

What I like about the house is its peaceful ambiance combined with its green surroundings. Yet it is close to vibrant tourist centres such as Pafos harbour and Coral Bay.

Look around you and all you see is green, hardly any concrete (at least not such that it dominates the scenery) !

The stress falls immediately off my shoulders when entering the house. At the same time all the facilities are available to enjoy the required luxury. This includes satellite television, free WIFI, air-conditioning in all rooms, barbecue, parking space for 2 cars, two large bathrooms, one of which has a shower and the other a shower and bath, a swimming pool, a balcony, a dining table inside and outside, cooking facilities, BBQ, three bedrooms offering 7 places to sleep etc. The house is also very spaci

Kissonerga, with a number of cosy English pubs, and Tala, with a beautiful village square and some of the best restaurants in the area, are even closer. The house is ideal for elderly people and families with small children, due to its peaceful ambiance and facilities. Look around you, and all you will see is green ! The house is in a cul de sac with four other houses, which enhances your privacy. All rooms have airconditioning. The swimming pool is fenced off, so your child is 100% safe. High chair, games and baby cot are available. The house has its own parking. Outside: Private swimming pool (including safety fence for small children) of 8 by 4 metres, beautiful green garden, patios, dining table with 6 chairs, BBQ, private parking, with a total size of 150 square metres. Utility Room: All necessary equipment available in the utility room, including but not limited to vacuum cleaner, ironing board etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels (except beach towels) are included. A villa clean, linen/towel change is available mid way on a 2 week stay at extra charge.

Pleasant and peaceful

A lovely very well equipped villa in a small cul de sac of 4 villas. Air con throughout, very nice pool. Rutger was very helpful when one Air con needed re gassing, done within 2 hours of being reported. Lovely quite little village with two really nice restaurants.

Excellent clean and comfortable

This was our first time in Cyprus and I must say we where impressed the villa was lovely clean and in a peaceful location . We got lost on the way from the airport but the owner was only a phone call away and very very helpful he directed us to the door in minutes.

A car is essential but bars and restaurants only short drive away .

The pool was great we have 2 children aged 10 and 11 and they spent days and evenings swimming and playing.

Thanks for a wonderful stay and hopefully we can return again.

2nd stay

Just arrived back in UK after another very enjoyable holiday in this delightful villa, my wife and myself wanted a very tranquil relaxing holiday and was just the ticket, although a short walk to the village or a short drive there are very nice bars/restaurants, as well as shops and supermarkets.

Villa very clean, lots of room, even a water cooler which is very welcome.

Will definitely be back. Neighbours very friendly and helpful for any problems.

very affordable and enjoyable holiday

This was our 2nd visit to the villa and following our previous review it is good to see that most of the small issues we mentioned have been addressed. There is now a very thorough information pack, more seating in the lounge area and more sun loungers. The villa was clean and tidy and we really enjoyed our visit. We have booked again for september and we will be returning regularly each year. We have found the owners to be very pleasant and accomodating and easy to contact. We would reccommend this villa to any age group, we had our small grandchildren with us for this visit, age 3yrs and a baby of 7mths and it was just perfect for them. The fence around the pool made all the difference and we could enjoy the children being round the pool in safety. Roll on sept when we return.

1st stay at this villa

We have rented villas in paphos for many years but this is the 1st time at this particular property. We found the property pretty much as described, relatively well maintained, and as this is a newish property to the rental market it is obviously a work in progress. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything needed and more, seating in the lounge area adequate and the dining area is large with plenty of seating. The bedrooms are fine with lots of clean bedding available. and the bathrooms clean and well maintained with plenty of towels. There was a small issue with the cleanliness which was dealt with immediately and to be fair was the fault of the company providing the cleaning service. The owners are preparing an information pack and although this was not available for our stay, the owners were more than happy to answer any questions we had. The location was great for us, close to the supermarket and a short drive to the beach and paphos town. The pool was clean and well maintained and the child safety fence can be removed if you dont need it. Our only real issue was the bbq as we would prefer a charcoal cypriot bbq but that is really personal taste. We found the villa more than value for money and have recommended it to friends and family, we have also rebooked for 4 weeks this year so that should give an indication of its suitability.

Coast/Beach:

Less than ten minutes drive from Coral Bay beach. Coral Bay is ideal for families in search of safe swimming and soft sand. It offers lots of watersports and family-friendly activities. There are plenty of eating places, sunbeds and parasols, plus inflatables, parascending, diving and water skiing. Even at height of season it is possible to walk beyond the sunbeds and find uncluttered sand and relative peace. There are many bars and restaurants on the beach and in the resort.

Travel:

Twenty minutes drive from Paphos Airport. Car hire is recommended.

Distances:

Eight kilometres from Coral Bay, 3 kilometres from Tala, 3 kilometres from Paphos.

Further Details:

The fact that a high percentage of people who rented the house in the past come back for new bookings attests to its high level of attraction. All amenities, including one of the best and largest supermarkets in the area, the beautiful beach of Coral Bay and the vibrant city centre of pafos and its ancient harbour, are within small distance (five to ten minutes away). Places like Kissonerga, with a number of cosy English pubs where you can enjoy live coverage of all important English and international sport matches, and Tala, with a beautiful village square and some of the best restaurants in the area, are even within closer reach. The famous Neophytous monastery is 15 minutes by car. The famous Adonis waterfalls are half an hour away by car.
