About Paul and Annette Spink

RoussillonFarmhouse and Mas D’en Porte have been in our family for the past 30 years. So popular are our properties and the region we bought the two adjoining cottages. At some stage we might even spend more time in France - as opposed to the wet and colder climate of Lancashire, UK! We have had the benefit of bringing up our son, Luke, in France and he loves the region for the sun, the sea, the mountains and the outdoor life. He learnt to windsurf, water ski, snow ski / board, mountain bike, cook and the art of hospitality. We hope you can enjoy our properties and the Roussillon region and look forward to being of service to you.

A stunning villa in a great location, and Paul and Annette were incredibly helpful from the outset. The villa is beautiful, well-maintained, and has everything for a great family holiday. Add to this the lovely location near the Pyrenees, as well as the fact that you have some lovely beaches near by and some great towns such as Ceret and Collioure just a short drive away. This is the first time we hired a villa and the experience has been fantastic, contributing to what has been a lovely holiday. Would highly recommend.

We enjoyed our family holiday in the Mas D'en Porte. We loved the outside balconies and the furnishing were good. The kitchen was good and the poolside loungers and umbrellas were comfortable. It was a bit of a squeeze with 9 of us because our teenage children really need proper beds now. The owner was very helpful leading up to the holiday and gave us lots of tips before we arrives. You need iPad or computer really for local info. Loved the area: beaches and mountains were nearby. Thanks.

Absolutely lovely holiday - the property was wonderful in every way. All bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms appeared to have been recently fitted-out and very well appointed. We took two neighbouring properties as a group for the fortnight and all said we will be coming back which we most definitely will. Very helpful owners and support. Great little village with plenty to do around, fantastic beach at le Racou the restaurant le fanal is wonderful. Half hour to Spanish beaches. LOVED IT.

The holiday was a success and we all enjoyed the farmhouse away from the more commercialised seaside resorts & ports. The hillside location although tough on the cycle legs provided a welcome afternoon breeze during the hotter parts of the day. We probably stayed around the pool & farmhouse house half the total days we were away, swimming, reading, playing games, BBQing and eating lunches in "the cave"; very relaxing.

The house with its facilities and the pool and the surrounding patios with the wonderful atmosphere really met all our expectations. The area in itself was superb and there is no doubt we will visit that part of France again - best ever!

A fantastic week in this beautiful village

We were a group of 31 and hired all 4 properties. It worked very well and we all spent most of our time at The Farmhouse by the pool and on the balcony enjoying amazing views. We all even managed to eat (in 2 sittings) on the balcony. It's a short stroll into the quant village and the coastline is beautiful and we visited several beaches. A holiday with some amazing memories to treasure.

Wow. Just home from fantastic holiday in France. We have never rented a house to holiday in before, it was fantastic. Accommodation brilliant, it's own pool and fantastic views and the location superb for the cyclists in our group. The village was lovely too with lovely restaurants and excellent food. None of us wanted to leave!!!!!

Mas D'en Porte - Perfect position

The listing is an accurate reflection for the property and location, we hired the farmhouse and the studio accommodation for a party of 9, we all had adequate space and found the outside dining area under the arch a perfect setting to enjoy a long family evening meal. The kitchen is very well equipped, overall the accommodation clean, functional, tastefully furnished and is ideal for large families looking for a base to explore the region with the privacy of your own garden and pool upon return. The booking experience was very easy and clear , with the final instructions and guide to the house extremely comprehensive covering everything you would need to know. The hamlet of Villelongue Des Monts is very quiet, we enjoyed meals at La Pierranne, which is run by a delightful Belgium couple, the service was excellent, food exceptional and of course a great selection of Belgium Beers . A must visit close by which we loved was the Café Des Artiste in the neighbouring town of Laroque Des Alberes Guinness on tap and the food is all local produce so fresh and again delicious, the cafe also has a great atmosphere. Another must visit location is Collioure , just stunning!! We will definitely be going back to Mas d'en Porte the service was excellent, the accommodation perfect and location ideal for a relaxing break. Wish I was still there :-) Enjoy

A great place

We chose Mas D'en Porte as it had plenty of space for our family, including a separate studio for grandparents.

It was good to meet the owners, Paul & Annette, who answered any queries we had.

The house had everything you needed, the private pool was excellent - children loved it.

A visit to Collioure is recommended, a pretty village on the coast - get there early though.

We would recommend this place to friends.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to have met you and your family and we were pleased that you all had a very enjoyable time. Collioure is a real spectacle and is busy in July / August. I’ve found a special parking spot, which is just 5mins walk to the centre. I’ll let you know next time..! By contrast I believe you enjoyed the stroll from the house to the village restaurants, which was more pleasant and at least you could have a nice cool drink..! Hope to be of service on another occasion.

Excellent for a big family holiday

We had an excellent stay at the house. It worked perfectly for our family gathering and celebrations. The house was very clean and the local representative Derek was very responsive and helpful.

Parking is tight and needs to be coordinated with the guests in the other properties.

As to local gourmet restaurants, Cote Saisons was superb as was La Barvatelle. We also went to New York, New York, a burger bar on the Beach in Argeles-sur-Mer which our teenagers loved.

We also enjoyed the visit to the cloister just up the road where one of the nuns showed us round and shared the history of the place.

There is sufficient off-road parking for 8 cars in the court-yard and as you say, with some coordination it always seems to work fine. You certainly choose some good restaurants, although we are blessed with a good selection right on our door step, including 3 in the village which are just a 5mins walk. Hope to be of service to you and your family / friends on another occasion and it has been a pleasure assisting you to celebrate in style..!
