Apartment in Ayamonte, Costa de la Luz, Spain - Peaceful Location Within 5 Mins Drive To Centre Of Town, 10-15 Mins Drive To Glorious Beaches

This Andalusian apartment ( one of fourteen) is situated on a hill overlooking Ayamonte close to the Parador and only 3 mins from the bridge separating Spain and Portugal. The lounge leads onto a large terrace with lovely views towards the distant coast line. On the other balcony at the front you overlook a small park and a few minutes walk to the Guadiana river looking towards Castro Marim. The sunsets here are fabulous. This first floor apartment is fully resourced and is spacious. All rooms looking towards the countryside. The swimming pool is just below the terrace. The complex is secure and gated with individual parking spaces. A few mins walk brings you to a shopping mall with a large Mercadona Supermarket, various designer shops and coffee bars. A walk into the bustling town centre where there is a marina, beautiful squares and restaurants is 15mins away (3 mins in a car.)Four golf courses within 15 mins and a further six courses in 30 mins!

We are a retired Headteacher/School Inspector. We have lived abroad for a number of years and enjoy sport. We still travel a great deal now for our two sons live overseas. We love Spain and Portugal and play golf and bowls regularly. We love this particular area as it has so much to offer. We have had a holiday home in Spain for many years the last one in Islantilla which was also with Owners Direct.

Luxurious Haven of Relaxation

A family of 3, relaxing surroundings and pristine accommodation always feature as top selection criteria for our getaways and from the moment we arrived this beautifully maintained apartment ticked all boxes.

The apartment was beautifully furnished, well equipped with all necessary utensils (and more) spotless and lovingly cared for by it's owners. The view from the main terrace is outstanding and provided a peaceful and relaxing setting to enjoy family dinning. The pool was only a few steps from the apartment and whilst a communal pool it felt very much like your own private pool, our son aged 12 loved it and the space and freedom provided him with the ideal opportunity to perfect his swimming, like the apartment the pool itself was also immaculate.

The apartment was conveniently located within walking distance to a large supermarket which was very reasonably priced and catered for all tastes.

Ayamonte itself is a beautiful, traditional Spanish town and was easily accessible by a short taxi ride or a brisk stroll. The choice of restaurants was endless and we were never disappointed by either quality or price. Plaza Laguna was a peaceful family haven where hours could be spent enjoying a family meal or simply having a cold drink and people watching.

Will we return - most definitely 😊. The owners Carole and Mike were so welcoming and helpful from the first point of contact. Additionally special mention must be made to Kevin who looks after the apartment for the owners, again he was so welcoming and provided loads of suggestions of where to dine.

Happy Holiday

This was our 2nd time to stay in this lovely apartment. The pool and apartment blocks are immaculately maintained and pleasing to the eye. The apartment itself was spotless and has a nice layout with access to the terrace from both kitchen and living area. There is a lovely breeze almost all the time which makes dining outdoors very pleasant.The bed in the main bedroom was so comfortable that we slept well every night. Most days we had the pool to ourselves ! The supermarket is a stone's throw away and we walked to the town most nights. Taxis home cost €5. In this apartment you have the luxury of peace and quiet and yet have access to the nearby town with a great choice of restaurants. The owners are very helpful - they even recommended a car hire company "Travel Rent" where we got a great deal. Meet & Greet agent was very good too. Can't fault this property as a holiday choice- we will return ! Veronica & Fergus - Dublin.

The best of Spain and Portugal

We are a family of four. Having 2 young children we wanted a holiday that would keep the kids happy but would also give us the opportunity to explore this beautiful part of the world. We found that this location allowed us to do everything we had wanted to.

Firstly the apartment and the actual block itself was fantastic. The apartment is very new and modern with lovely fittings and furniture. It's spacious and is well-equipped with everything a family needs. It goes without saying that the place was in perfect condition when we arrived. The pool is lo lovely and we noticed it was well serviced by the maintenance guys. Importantly it was never too busy so it felt like a private pool. In terms of location we only a 5 minute drive from the town centre. Ayemonte is a really quaint and unspoilt town. Loads of fantastic restaurants, shops and even some kids went entertainment in the form of a bouncy castle. You feel like you are experiencing the real Spain and the food on offer is outstanding and incredibly well-priced. The square at night is very nice for families and its totally safe.

The surrounding area gave us so many options. You are literally five minutes from Portland so you can explore the beaches and Portuguese food very easily. The beaches near ayemonte are also beautiful and our kids loved playing in the shallow water.

Overall we would thoroughly recommend this apartment. The place was immaculate and there is so much to there.

For many years we had a villa in Islantilla but as we play golf and bowls in Portugal we decided to move nearer the border of Spain and Portugal. We sold last year and have now bought a lovely brand new apartment in Ayamonte which is approximately 3 mins from the bridge separating the two countries.

Nearest Airport : Faro Airport at 60 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Ayamonte.Plaza. Mac Donalds at 1 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Ayamonte at 2 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Esuri and Isla Canela at 3 Kilometres Nearest Train : Vila Real San Antonio at 8 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Ayamonte Plaza at 1 Kilometres Nearest Ski : Granada at 300 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Isla Canela or Monte Gordo at 10 Kilometres Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

There is a Zoo in the centre of Ayamonte and a water slide activity in Portugal within 30mins ride by car. Tourist attractions are many.


The beaches are numerous and are spectacular. White silver sand and very clean. During the summer months life guards are present. Bars and a restaurant are close at hand without going into the centre. The beauty of staying here is that you have a choice of where you want to shop/ or to which beach you want to visit.


Faro is the nearest airport ( 40mins away) Car hire can be organised there. We can arrange collection from the airport at an additional charge on request


The border is 3 mins away to the bridge. From then onwards you are in the Algarve with all the excellent resorts stemming from Monte Gordo to Vilamoura. Tavira is 20 mins drive from the apartment. Lisbon is 3 hours away. On the Spanish side Seville is an hour away- other cities like Cadiz, Jerez and the Donana National Park are also very accessible for a day's trip To travel north the Aracena Mt range (the real forgotten Spain) is two hours drive away.

Further Details:

This area is an absolute delight for sightseeing as you have the close proximity to Seville, Huelva ( where Christopher Columbus set sail and on the Portuguese side all the Algarve resorts from Vilamour to Tavira to Monte Gordo. The beaches are fantastic, large expanses of white sand and dunes. Wind surfing can be done further down the coast. There is a large shopping mall outside Tavira which also has a cinema running English programmes.

We will give a favourable discount for a long winter let which will be negotiated. The price quoted is for four adults (children are free). In addition for less than four adults a further 10% discount will be given.

If you want the best of Spain and Portugal you really need to live in Ayamonte, a picturesque Andalusian border town.Our apartment is situated in this town on a hill very close to the Parador. It has stunning views overlooking countryside and the distant coastline on one side and the town on the other which you can walk into easily. The Guadiana river is only 5 mins walk from the apartment.Ayamonte is a most interesting place with a lovely marina surrounded by bars, restaurants and lovely squares. Another advantage to staying here is its convenience to Faro airport which is approx.40mins away.

It is a gated community with individual car parking and gardens and park immediately opposite complex. The apartment suits 4 adults comfortably. For children a cot and Z bed can be loaned out at an additional charge. Outside: There is an outdoor green area around the pool. On the terrace we have a patio table plus four chairs/loungers. Utility Room: Washing machine/ clothes drier/ electric boiler and utility cupboard. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen is changed once a week.
