Penthouse Apartment in Mevagissey, Cornwall, England - Just Yards From Beach

The Saltings is a newly refurbished, luxury penthouse apartment beautifully positioned right on the West Quay encapsulating views of the inner and outer harbours of picturesque Mevagissey. From the front of the apartment (including the lounge/dining room and kitchen), the views are exceptional - whether it be watching the local fishermen unloading the day's catch or one of the regular yachts sailing by on the horizon, there is always something happening. Whilst the accommodation is self-catering, Mevagissey is lucky enough to have a wide range of restaurants, all of which are within a short walk, and therefore you have the option to choose where you eat each evening, depending on how you feel. Equally, if you fancy cooking something special up for yourself, you could just walk the 30 yards or so to the local fishmongers which is Quay side and directly opposite the apartment. Outside there is a communal patio/garden area.

Perfect family holiday

Just returning home from a amazing week in the saltings we all absolutely loved it a gorgeous apartment with so much to do we went for lovely days out then had a meal and a few drinks around the harbour even joined in quiz night at the harbour tavern really sad to be leaving we ll definetly be back

Fabulous base for a great week away

The Saltings is the perfect base to discover Mevigissey or further a field.

Everything you need for a break away nothing missed out of this accommodation so you don't need to load up your car with things that you think won't be there.

Fantastic view of the harbour sets you up for the day, we were very lucky with sunshine in October, go to the Fountain Inn you won't be disappointed in the food especially the Fish Stew or the Fish & Chips, always nicely washed down with a drink or two.

We will be back to the Saltings very soon.

Everything just as good as promised!

We spent six very enjoyable days at The Saltings. The apartment is of the highest standard and located right on the harbour's edge. The accommodation is fine for two adults ,or two adults and two children, or four adults, two of whom don't mind sleeping in the very generous bunkbeds.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and we even managed a half-hour swim at Porthluney Beach - at the end of September!

Visitors should take seriously the height (and width) restrictions of the Parking area - we took my wife's Honda Jazz in preference to my CRV, and were very glad we had!! You do have to run the gauntlet of driving right through Mevagissey and along what appears to be (but isn't) a restricted quayside street, with everyone (mainly visitors, not locals, who know the area) staring at you as if you shouldn't be there - quite fun really.......

Do try the Portuguese restaurant on the harbour - the best meal we had all week!

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Walking is extremely popular in this area with numerous coastal paths leading from the village. Sea fishing and pleasure trips can be booked within the harbour (see owners website for further details). Fishing is also permitted off the harbour wall.

Coast/Beach:

There are plenty of fantastic beaches to visit in and around Mevagissey (some of them within walking distance of the apartment). Here are a couple of our favourites:

1) Polstreath Beach

Reached via the coastal path just along from the apartment, by a flight of steep steps from the cliff top.

2) Porthpean Beach

Popular family beach because of its safe bathing. Easy access on slight incline from the car park.

Travel:

Newquay Airport 21 miles - St Austell Train Station 6 miles - Heligan 1½ miles - Eden Project 7 miles - Fowey 8 miles - Truro 15 miles.

Distances:

The Saltings, Mevagissey is situated on the southern Cornish coast, just moments away from The Lost Gardens Of Heligan and only 5 miles from St Austell and the Eden Project, making it an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful county.

  • Notes on accommodation: The penthouse apartment comprises a light and airy entrance hall, a living/dining room, a newly fitted modern kitchen (with cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave and sink), a master bedroom with double bed, a second bedroom with comfortable bunk beds and a luxury shower room with power shower, sink and toilet. Please note that changeover day is Saturday (arrival strictly after 2pm and departure strictly before 10am). All electricity and heating is included. Children of all ages are most welcome (a travel cot can be provided if required). The apartment and communal areas of the building are strictly non-smoking at all times.
