Quiet location centre of Courchevel 1850. Totally renovated by well respected local architect, this apartment has great views of the alps and is well located for access to the slopes and centre of town. Great for families, it is well equipped with all quality Miele domestic appliances, and great entertainment with 40" 3D LED internet connected TV, Satellite TV, Apple TV, Nintendo wii, XBOX, wifi, games, and a sauna room with shower and WC. It sleeps up to 8 (maximum 6 adults plus 2 kids) in 3 bedrooms (each with flat screen TV) and a bunk room which is great for kids. Located on the 3rd floor with lift, slopes are accessed 50m from the ground floor entrance. Supermarket is 2 minutes from the top floor exit, and the forum shopping centre is 5 minutes walk, great for kids after skiing with indoor ropes course, bowling, ice skating and amusement arcade and shops. Boulangerie opposite the top floor exit. Parking is within the building and comes with the apartment. Non-Smoking (loss of deposit if smoking evident).

Why Greg Clinton chose Courchevel

We bought this apartment because it had such a great position in 1850 and a wonderful view. We totally gutted it in 2011 down to a bare shell with concrete floors. Luckily we met a great local architect who lives in Courchevel who brought the whole project together - thanks Valentine!

What makes this apartment unique

Great skiing area and really convenient location in the town, we can just let the kids wander out up to the Forum, for ice skating or bowling or chopping, it is very close. We come back for lunch when skiing quite often. The apartment is a corner unit so benefits from double aspect and great views.

Notes on accommodation: The apartment is located on the 3rd floor of a 7 story apartment block with lift. Renters must respect that other residents stay within the building and the owner requests that renters are reasonable and considerate with regard to noise. Utility Room: Miele washing machine and separate dryer, iron and ironing board, hoover and WC. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The apartment comes with Peter Reid linen and towels from John Lewis, with all beds made up ready for you. Towels and linen changed every week. More regular cleaning and linen change by arrangement. Other: Ski storage in large locker outside front door Cot and high chair available upon request.

Well located- pleasant- nice view

Well maintained and comfortable apartment a short stroll away from the village centre- handy shops, restaurants, bars nearby, particularly La Fromagerie and Le Petit Drink. Importantly for a ski apartment, it has limitless hot water and a power shower. Great customer service both from the owner Greg and the property manager Bodjorka.

Great Courchevel 1850 Base

We stayed in Greg's apartment at the end of March 2016, a family of 2 adults and 4 children aged 13, 10, 9 and 6. Greg was great to deal with, answering questions rapidly and the whole check in process with the friendly Bodjorka was very smooth even if her English was as poor as my French! The apartment was very clean and in a good state of repair, although the washing machine wasn't working the whole time we were there, despite Bodjorka saying someone would be around to fix it mid-week. Still, I hadn't planned on using it so it wasn't a problem.

The apartment was very well laid out and decorated tastefully. The bedrooms were compact, but had plenty of room for storage. We found the beds comfortable, but I must say a little on the small side, and more pillowcases rather than just pillow protectors for the extra pillows would have been appreciated as I like to have 2 pillows to sleep with. The was kitchen was equipped so well that there wasn't much room to store food! The views from the apartment were spectacular, and the fact that the bins for the block were located opposite didn't seem to get noticed as they are so far below. We did hear the bin men at night once, but mostly it was very quiet and peaceful.

We found the location in the middle of Courchevel good, although it wasn't particularly great for the younger members of our party. Getting to the ESF children't village required either an awkward walk carrying skiing up and down steps, dragging them up a little hill and walking across a slope, or skiing down quite a steep blue run. Luckily by day 2 they were able to do this but they are at the 1 star level. Any lower and I don't think they would have managed to ski in/out. Still, those children aged 10 and over, or 2 star and above, get to meet at the bottom of the main set of lifts instead which they found fine. We just had to leave 30 mins before ski school started to make sure we made it on time!

We found one good place to eat whilst we were in Courchevel 1850 (a burger place called 9*9) and also had a good takeaway pizza, but the other restaurants we found to be over priced (15 euros for a tiny plate of average fries at the creperie!!) or too fussy. Consequently we ate up the mountain at lunch time or in the apartment a lot and were grateful that the apartment was so nice!!

Would we stay here again? Probably not, but only due to the ski school location. Otherwise I'd thoroughly recommend it!

Owner's Response: I am sorry there were not 4 pillows per bed, there should have been and we will make sure there are in future; we do have a number of different pillows as some people like them thin and some thick, but will be making sure there are more than enough. Washing machine is fixed (outlet hose was not in the drain pipe). Thank you for the restaurant tips and also for your review.

Ideal ski experience

We had four adults, a 16 yr and 9 yr old and the flat was absolutely perfect for us. It has everything you could possibly need and the renovation is beautifully done, maximising the space and modern conveniences. We ate most meals in and were able to prepare anything we wanted in the small but very well stocked kitchen. There is a bakery across the street and a truly fabulous gourmet food store a few steps on. Another 100 feet away is a new supermarket that has all your basic needs.

Having the sauna in the flat was fantastic for soothing tired muscles after skiing.

The ski set up is great. A rental shop that knows Greg the owner well is a few steps from the front door and they were not only very helpful but also have only the latest gear. To hit the slopes you take the elevator downstairs and walk about 50feet to the slopes and you are off on a wide and quiet run, perfect to warm up on.

Of the three valleys courchevel is the quietest and we rarely waited at lifts. The skiing is sublime and it is so easy to ski into Meribel and Val Thorens too if you want to explore.

We really had the perfect week and we are very glad we rented from Greg and will very much hope to do so again soon.

Excellent apartment with fantastic location

We had a great time staying in Greg's apartment over half term. The place was very clean and welcoming with great facilities. Was a pleasure to go back to after a busy day on the slopes. I would highly recommend it and if we go back to Courchevel we would certainly think about staying there again. Greg is a very helpful guy who answered all our questions honestly before we placed the booking.

Great apartment in excellent location

We had an amazing week of snow in Courchevel 1850. Courchevel has access to a huge amount of terrain and snow options for everyone.

The well maintained apartment is compact but very clean, comfortable and well set up with all the mod cons and ski locker just next door. Ski Out/Ski In access available but we tended to walk the 150m up to La Croisette station. Lots of restaurants and bars just out the front door & a boulangerie directly across the road.

Probably stating the obvious here but the town of 1850 is RATHER expensive. We found the nearby wine/tapas bars offered the best options for affordable quality dining, however, if you want to cook, there are several nearby spots to buy food and wine.

Greg was a great host and all communications/processes happened effortlessly. Would happily return.
