Overview

About the property

Spacious Private Villa With Stunning Lake Views & Pool, Family & Pet Friendly a short picturesque walk from Gardone

Villa Chiara is a characteristic and spacious property situated in the friendly Gardone Riviera and overlooking Lake Garda whose natural beauty has inspired painters and poets for centuries. In 2010 and 2011 extensive refurbishment took place creating new bedroom and bathroom facilities and a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area. The views from the balconies, the terrace and living area are stunning and in our experience visitors are soon captivated by the Lakes atmosphere and charm. In the summer months the large terrace and barbecue allows friends to relax and enjoy an evening meal well into the night and in winter the log burner creates a cosy atmosphere from which to watch stunning sunsets turn the waters remarkable shades of purple and orange. Whether you want a family holiday, an activity holiday or a romantic getaway, Villa Chiara and Lake Garda provides the perfect destination.

About Jan Pittaccio

We are a family who have had associations with the Lake for over 30 years and continue to visit whenever possible.

My husband is a very active sportsman and my youngest daughter is very adventurous. I enjoy walking and my older daughter loves the pool and sun.

We love the lake as it offers each of us something different but we all feel that no evening can be better spent than with friends and family, enjoying delicious local food on the balconies with the Lake as our backdrop.

Jan Pittaccio purchased this villa in 2007

Why Jan Pittaccio chose Lake Garda

We have had an association with Lake Garda for over thirty years. My Father in Law was born in Italy and bought a small place down the hillside which I visited regularly. When Villa Chiara came up for sale privately we decided to buy and fully refurbish it.

My own children adore the villa mostly for the swimming and ice cream. There is a lot around the lake to keep them entertained. Our 18 year old daughter is as keen to visit now as she was when she was a toddler.

My husband is a very keen cyclist and this area has some of the best cycling in the world. He loves lakes and mountains.

I prefer to walk our two dogs, swim and then relax and enjoy the culinary delights of the region taking time to sit on the balcony and really soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful place.

What makes this villa unique

The views are stunning and available from all the main living areas so you literally look out of the window and the lake is there.

The villa is situated in an Italian neighbourhood and so your experience will be typically local whilst all the entertainment you may seek is nearby.

If you are planning to cycle we have a close relationship with the local bike shop and can offer additional advice on routes.

Amazing place

  • 5 of 5

This trip was our first to lake Garda, we had a party of 9 so were looking for a fairly large place to stay.

All of our emails with Jan have been answered promptly and they provide lots of info before your stay.

In our opinion this villa is under sold, the pictures of the bathrooms are good and they live up to it. However the rest of the place is so much better and bigger than the photos on the website!

Apart from the views of the lake (these truly are stunning) the living space is the most impressive. We were concerned before we arrived about having 9 people stay but to be honest we had plenty of room.

In a lot of emails from the owner they made sure we were aware of all the aspects of the villa

parking - we managed to get 3 cars parked on site a Punto, alta xl and a galaxy. But really two cars with no hassle

Bedrooms - one en-suite double on the same floor as the living area and 3 interlinking rooms down stares with there own bathroom plus sofa bed.

Pool, this was described as a splash pool but again it was bigger than expected.

Another plus is it's within a short walk to a group of restaurants

We were very happy with our stay and will be coming back soon

Two week stay, family of six

  • 5 of 5

The property description and location were very accurate. The villa was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The interconnection of the downstairs bedrooms worked fine for us and proved to be the most comfortable, temperature wise, during the very hot (up to 38C) first week of out stay. Likewise, the pool was very welcome after a day out visiting the surrounding attractions. The Owner provided us with plenty of information on things to do and see around Lake Garda. The views were spectacular and the short drive down the hill to Gardone yielded plenty of choice for restaurants on an evening, with free parking available, even in high season. We especially enjoyed swimming in the Lake at Toscolano Maderno, a few miles north of Gardone. If you are planning on taking the car ferry across the Lake to Torri to take the cable car from Malcesine, make sure you book your cable car tickets in advance on line. Waiting times were three hours (!) for visitors without advance ticket bookings..! All in all, a very enjoyable stay, well recommended.

Great Villa in beautiful surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at The Villa in October Half term. There were 9 of us in total ranging in age from 7 to 63 and there was plenty of room. The interconnecting rooms didn't worry us at all, although I guess it's worth thinking about if there are lots of you that don't know each other well.

The Villa was lovely, nicely finished with everything you need and incredible views over the lake and surrounding countryside.

There are lots of lovely places near by around the lake to visit. We also visited Venice and Verona for day trips by train. I would also recommend the cable cars the other side of the lake (you can catch a ferry from a town 10 minutes from the Villa).

Mark and Jan the Villa owners were lovely people too and very helpful, just generally great to deal with. We will definitely think about returning.

Beautiful home for all ages!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I reunited in this villa for a wonderful week on the hillsides over Lake Garda. We came from the UK, the US and Australia and ranged from 10 months to 68 years old. The villa was plenty spacious for 10 of us, very well stocked and clean, and the views were breathtaking. One night we watched a thunderstorm travel across the lake - amazing!

Jan was wonderful to communicate with and answered my many questions quickly and fully. She was very accommodating and made sure we felt at home. There were plenty of games and pool toys for the children and the pool, while not massive, was plenty big and just the right antidote after a walk up the hill on a hot summer day.

The only downside was the walk to Gardone on the road. It isn't far but it is steep. It was likely a challenge because of the ages of the kids ... and we still did the walk a number of times. The small village down the road is lovely and has a very friendly bakery, veg shop, butchers, restaurant and a small train that takes you to the pier where you can catch the ferry.

All in all an amazing place to spend a holiday and we were very grateful for all Jan's help!!

Amazing 25th Wedding Anniversary

  • 5 of 5

Where do I start, whilst driving up to the property we were taken back by the views of the lake until we walked into the villa and opened the windows........wow stunning !! The villa is extremely clean, tidy and comfortable with all the comforts of home, the owners have thought of everything. We did quite a lot of sightseeing (plenty of maps & information in the villa) and there were plenty of good restaurants nearby. I would definitely recommend this villa and hope to return there very soon myself.

Stay July 2016

  • 2 of 5

Summarized:

1. There is NO air condition

2. There is NO internet connetion

3. You will get NO response when claiming price reduction

4. You do NOT get value for your money

Vila Chiara has a spectacular view and a great locaion. We were 10 persons and had a great time at Lake Garda.

Unfortunatly this do not compensate for lack og air condition and internet connection. Which both were listed as facilities. Even if there were fans as substitute for air condition this is just not good enough whenadvertising air condition.

Abot the internet connection; when contacting the owners they informed us that there was connection out on the balcony or at restaurants. . . We tried to connect all our phones (10 in total) and compters (3) and no connection at any time of day for 14 days. (there were nets, but none connections was possible). To advertise internet connection and rely on other people or company is not impressive at all.

As internet connecton and air condition were two of our main criteria when deciding for a holiday home, we found it reasonable to claim a price reduction. We sent e-mail during our stay as well as after coming home. We have yet NOT received any kind of response.

Thus we do not feel we have got value for the money paid. (Prices for similar accomodation without air condition is offered at 100€ less a night.)

Owner's Response: We always welcome feed back although we are disappointed that this is the first 'negative' review that we have ever received. In this case we didn't think that the aggressive threat of a negative review if we didn't refund money was fair. The internet was there but their children did not log onto it and ran up charges on their own phones instead. We would have assisted without the threats and without the fact that the villa was left in a very poor state which was upsetting and costly to have to redress. Wi Fi - We have mobile internet with a 5 gig spare backup Sim card so unless you are downloading lots of films it is fine. We have hosted a number of business owners and students at the villa and there has been no issue with them remaining in contact or accessing websites to study. Our own daughters and their friends are also able to access social media without difficulty. Villa Chiara is a natural Italian experience. It is not an investment property or a hotel but a home from home in a location with which we have had a 35 year association. We do all we can to ensure that our visitors feel that during their stay it also becomes their home from home. I think this is fairly reflected in other reviews. We always discuss or exchange details of the Villa prior to accepting bookings to ensure that it is appropriate for a guest's needs. If a hotel or a different location may be more appropriate then we will say so. We are invariably 'on call' offer advice and recommendations whilst guests are enjoying their stay. We have made many friends as a result and they have returned to the Villa on a number of occasions. Air conditioning- We did have an air conditioning unit in the villa but no one used it because it was far preferable to have the doors and windows open onto the Lake and feel the wonderfully natural breeze that we enjoy from the villa's elevated position. This cooler climate as well as the outstanding views is why hillside villas are so popular. We therefore installed proper ceiling fans in every room instead as well as new windows that can be tilted and have mesh blinds. We welcome all genuine and constructive feedback and will continue to do all we can to offer particular advice to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay in this wonderful location.

Location

Special interest holidays:

On/off road cycling, fishing, hiking and walking, rock climbing, water skiing, wind surfing, kite surfing, sailing, golf, photography and painting.

The Villa is situated in the middle of 'cycling heaven' and many of the professional teams train on the spectacular inclines around the lake. We are keen cyclists and have entertained several cycling groups both road cyclists and mountain bikers and we are very friendly with the local bike shop. We can offer guided cycling tours to the area.

The surrounding hills form part of the Bresciana National Park and are very popular with walkers. The routes are clearly marked and cater for all abilities.

The Lake is a major water sports centre and very popular amongst wind and kite surfers and sailors.

We have also found that photographers and painters have enjoyed their pastime here due to the beautiful surroundings, extraordinary colours and changing light.

Coast/Beach:

Swimming areas at various towns around the Lake. Rimbalzello beach club is 4 kms away. Parking is easy and the site includes beach volleyball, tennis, an adventure park, beach bar, spa, spinning classes and scuba diving. Major windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing facilities are situated along the lakeside.

Travel:

Airports:Brescia Montichiari (35kms) Verona Villafranca (65kms) Bergamo Orio al Serio (65kms) Milano Linate (120kms) Milano Malpensa (180kms)

Motorways:Exit Desenzano del Garda (25kms) Exit Brescia east (30kms)Exit Rovereto Sud (Lago di Garda Nord) (60kms)

Railway Stations:Desenzano del Garda (25kms) Brescia (35kms) bus transfers are available.

A ferry service operates around the Lake.

We would recommend hiring a car.

Distances:

2km to Gardone, 5kms to Larger town of Maderno and Salo.

Further Details:

As you would expect in Italy there are plenty of good eating places, although we cannot resist the bustle of the local food market and using the wood barbecue on the terrace to cook our latest 'discoveries'.

There are so many picturesque places on the lakeside to explore as well as some beautiful trips up into the mountains. The cities of Milan (81 miles) and Verona (36 miles) can easily be visited in a day and even Venice (107 miles) with an early start. Experiencing the opera in Verona's Roman amphitheatre is something special.

The Lake Garda region truly has something for everyone making it an ideal holiday destination for families looking for an exciting holiday, groups of cyclists looking for a challenge or somewhere for visitors to enjoy a quiet and relaxing time.
