Romantic Rural Retreat!- The Mill ( 1 bedroom + 'cot room' )

The Mill is perfect for a romantic getaway/ baby-moon or for a couple or those with a baby.

This is a very spacious property with dramatic double height ceiling in the open-plan living area downstairs. With a farmhouse table and a woodburning stove it has all the makings of a very special place.

Upstairs the main bedroom is characterful with sky light and exposed ceiling beams. There is a stylish metal king-size bed and oak furniture. Next to the main bedroom is a small 'cot room' which can be used for a travel cot.

Downstairs the bathroom comprises a white suite including bath with power shower over, sink and wc. The rest of the downstairs is set out in open plan format. The well equipped kitchen area includes an electric oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The sitting area includes a log burner, a sofa and chair, a flat screen TV with free-sat and a blu-ray player.

Dogs are welcome in The Mill by prior arrangement.

About the property

Best of Coast & Countryside

Nestled just 10 mins from the beach and with great access to North Cornwall and North Devon is the tranquil private estate of Stoneleigh Knowle.

Our Farmhouse and 3 cottages can be booked individually or grouped together for larger gatherings which makes this the perfect venue for couples, families or large groups of friends.

There is plenty of wildlife with acres of woods, meadows and streams to explore. Great walking and cycling routes start right from the cottages so you should never be short of something to do.

All the cottages have been furnished with comfortable sofas and beds including mattresses from 'Feather & Black'. (comfort has featured highly in our positive feedback from our guests). All our cottages have well equipped kitchens with a microwave, fridge freezer, electric cooker, dishwasher and lots of utensils. All the properties also have a flat screen TV with Free Sat and a Blu Ray player.

We have plenty of outside space in which you can BBQ or just sit and chat. We also have a play castle for the children to keep them occupied too!

We welcome dogs with a small charge and just a few rules- please let us know at time of booking.

Cozy, romantic hideaway.

  • 5 of 5

This is easily the nice self catering property we have stayed in anywhere in the world. The Mill is really cozy with it's woodburning stove and sofas. The bedroom is lovely and very comfortable we both slept really well. The kitchen is well equipped and a pleasure to use.

Even though it was early January we enjoyed walking on the beaches and the benefit of this time of year is the dog is welcome every where.

I would thoroughly recommend the property for a relaxing winter getaway.

Just as described

  • 5 of 5

The property was everything we expected it to be, and since it was a Christmas let, the owners had even put up a real Christmas tree, and decorated it, which was fab. Bottle of Prosecco and two glasses waiting on arrival.

Walks in the woods were good and instructions for everything. If you use the wood burner, make sure you buy decent dry wood as the "hardwood" sold by Morrisons in Bude didn't burn well.

Would rent again.

Mill cottage - 5*

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful well kept cottage in a lovely setting. Surrounded by countryside, so very peaceful all day and night. Log burner is brilliant to cosy up in front of. Loads of local walks and attractions.not far at all from Morrison's and Bude town centre. Next to stunning beaches with the most amazing views.. Definitely using again and would recommend to all. I went with one other but would be great for families to, plenty of living space and outside picnic area.

Location

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Nature- We have a unique environment which can offer guests a wonderful opportunity to watch wildlife and to spot nature.

Astronomy- We have very little light pollution and consequently there are some fabulous opportunities for star gazing.

We are very happy to help facilitate groups who wish to run themed breaks like painting, photography or retreats. Please talk to us about your ideas.

Coast/Beach:

Fantastic Widemouth Bay with sand, surf, café, loos, showers and lifeguard service is just 5mins drive, and the incredible South West Coastal Path is accessed from here.

Within 10-20mins drive there are many other fantastic beaches offering a wide variety of sand, pebbles, rock pools and coastal geology. Many allow dogs and many offer a lifeguard service. For the more adventurous or romantic there are some 'hidden' beaches too.

We will happily help you to find the right beach for you.

Travel:

If you want to really explore North Cornwall then we recommend that you have a car when you stay with us.

For those wishing to reduce their carbon footprint bikes can be hired and delivered to the estate and there are bus services throughout North Cornwall.

The best Train Stations would be either Exeter or Bodmin depending on direction of travel. There is a bus service and car hire available in Exeter.

Our closest airports are Newquay and Exeter which offer a good range of flights.

Notes:

  • The cottage has been furnished with quality in mind. Sofas, beds and a well equipped kitchen have all had positive reviews from previous guests. We want you to have a good time so we have tried to create a comfortable home from home. The changeover days can usually be co-ordinated to enable group bookings of more than one cottage. There is a long open barn in the courtyard which houses our table tennis table. Bed linen is included. The property is cleaned at changeover. We can provide travel cots (but don't provide the bedding for these). The WiFi and internet access are subject to the service constraints of our BT landline. We cannot guarantee that it will be working during your stay so please don't rely on it . Outside: We are very fortunate to be able to offer our guests some UNIQUE OUTSIDE SPACE. This means; places for picnics, kite flying, den building, exploring, nature spotting and woodland wandering. You can walk from the cottages to English Heritage's Penhallam Manor, and to the coast through an ancient wooded valley. Many of our guests enjoy seeing spectacular stars on clear nights. Cycling is great as we are just off the National Cycle Route- bikes can be hired locally and delivered to us. Each of our cottages has access to a BBQ and there are outside chairs and picnic tables in the shared gardens. We have practical undercover provision for storing bicycles, surf boards and for drip-drying wetsuits as well as a hose to get all that sand off! For younger guests we have a wooden play fort and slide which is tucked away behind the courtyard of cottages and we also have a small book, DVD and games library Our outside space is to be enjoyed responsibly.
