About the property

Bosun's Rest, Beer, South East Devon - Central Village Location, Near to Pubs and Shops, 100 Metres to the Beach

Bosun's Rest is a 2 bedroom maisonette in the heart of Beer, South Devon. It has parking for two cars, a fully fitted kitchen and a stunning balcony. Renovated in 2012, it is clean, modern and very comfortable.

The loft bedroom has a king sized double bed and its own en suite with bath and shower. The lower bedroom has twin single beds. There is a separate bathroom on this floor with a shower. The kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle and all the cutlery, crockery, etc that you will require. The lounge has 2 sofas, plus a 32" TV, DVD player and stereo. The whole property has double glazing and central heating. About Claire Benbow

Matthew, Claire and Maddy live in Hampshire. Maddy is 11 and at school. Matthew and Claire work at the local hospital. We have a VW camper van and have always enjoyed travelling round the beautiful English countryside. Matthew plays in a local band in and around Bournemouth, but made the effort to travel to Beer for a gig in the Dolphin Hotel in January 2015.

Claire Benbow purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Claire Benbow chose East Devon

On a visit to Devon in 2011 we discovered the wonderful seaside village of Beer. Right in the centre and only 100 metres from the beach, we found a property for sale, which was in the early stages of a complete renovation. We could see the potential and decided to make an investment as a long term pension plan which we now let out for holidays as Bosun's Rest.

The scenery over the bay is incredible - you can even spot the odd pod of dolphins from time to time. The village has a laid back atmosphere but always seems to have something going on due to its shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants. Whilst it is only an hour and a half from our house on a good run, it offers a massive contrast to our busy working lives.

What makes this apartment unique

Bosun's Rest has a fantastic location. Apart from being a minute from the beach, it is even closer to the village shops and pubs. Parking in this part of Beer can be difficult, but it has a double length drive, so you will not have a problem even if you travel in two cars.

The renovation was finished in 2012 and we strive for everything to be clean and fresh. There is a king sized double bedded room with en suite, as well as a twin bedded room and separate shower room. All bed linen is provided. There is a modern fully equipped kitchen, and a stunning balcony giving views over the village centre.

There is a lot to occupy you in and around Beer such as the Pecorama steam railway, the famous quarry caves, nearby donkey sanctuary and of course the beach.

Caught the bus to Lyme and walked back to Beer. 10 miles, but excellent. See our pics here...

Superb accommodation, superb location!

  • 5 of 5

We have all read blurb for holiday rentals that says the accommodation is great, right next to the beach etc.etc. and it never lives up to the hype. But in the case of Bosuns Rest the "blurb" is 100% accurate. This is by far the best place we have stayed in Devon. Exceptionally clean and very comfortable. As for the location, just fantastic. Right next to the pub if that is your thing. Beautiful walks to neighbouring towns. Friendly local people. Just wonderful. Highly recommended.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We've been travelling down to Devon for many years now and staying a various hotels and B&Bs but Bosun's Rest was by far the best we have ever stayed in. The house is beautifully decorated, well equipped and in an idyllic spot. A stones throw from the beach and benefiting from private car parking.

I highly recommend Bosun's Rest and will certainly be looking to stay again for many years to come.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Bosun's Rest was even better than we'd hoped, the photographs and decription of the property were completely accurate. The owners have thought of everything, there is everything you could possibly need. we loved the attic room, with the balcony access, and the bed is so comfortable. A real home from home. The owners gave us very good directions and instructions for gaining entry to the property. The location is perfect, close to everything, beach, shops, pubs and restaurants. Have already reccommended it to a work colleague. Hope to stay again.

Would highly recommend this property, it's just perfect. Accommodation is lovely, balcony a fantastic bonus and a sea view from the lounge and balcony. Clean, comfortable, parking, will definitely go back. Matthew so helpful from my initial email, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending others.

Bosun's Rest

Fabulous location. Impeccably clean with all the right gear (kitchen, tv, etc) easily to hand and easily operated. Comfy beds. Space well designed and laid out and a perfect roof terrace carved out to catch the sun. Spot on.

The property was spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and was well equipped. Off street parking is also a bonus when staying in Beer.
