Villa in Villemoustaussou, Carcassonne, Languedoc-Roussillon, France - Near Picturesque Village, 10 Minutes From Airport And Historic La Cite At Carcassonne

Built in 2007, Maison Elise is part of a small development of individually designed houses, built on a former vineyard. The Villa is surrounded by vineyards, being on the outskirts of the charming village of Villemoustaussou. It is ideally situated, being just 10 minutes drive from Carcassonne airport, and the famous La Cite. Local shops are within biking distance (4 bikes are provided at the Villa), and there is a large shopping centre 5 minutes drive away. The Canal du Midi is only a couple of miles, which is perfect for a leisurely walk, or a bike ride to one of the wonderful restaurants along it's banks. Swimming, walking, water sports and an adventure club are all available at the nearby Lac de la Cavayere. Many famous land marks are within a short drive of the Villa, including the 4 castles at Lastours, and some of the best caves in Europe. For longer trips, the Mediterranean coast and Pyrenees are within easy reach. Historic Mirepoix, Saissac and Montreal are well worth a visit.

About Patrick Limming

Alice and I spent many years looking for our little piece of paradise in France, and finally found it in Villemoustaussou! We both have hectic lives: me running the family business in Holbeach, and Alice working as practice manager for a firm of structural engineers, so we don't get to spend as much time at the Villa as we would like. Despite this we have made some good friends, both French and English. We have long had a passion for Lotus cars, and as Elise is also a translation of my wife's name, Maison Elise was an obvious choice for the Villa's name! We have taken on board things which were wrong with properties we have rented, and tried to avoid them with ours! Comments from past visitors suggest we have succeeded, but we are always willing to take advice from our guests!

Why Patrick Limming chose Carcassonne surroundings

Our search for a place to build our dream home had taken us to many parts of France, but as soon as we arrived in the Carcassonne area, we knew this was the place for us! Not only was the climate ideal, but the region is far less densely developed than other parts of the South of France. There is still a lovely rural feel to it, and being a predominately wine growing area only adds to the appeal. We viewed many sites before we found our idyllic spot, on what had been a vineyard. The easy access to Carcassonne Airport was another plus, and once we realised just how much there was to do in the immediate area, we signed on the dotted line, and started building. As we have come to know the area, and its friendly locals, we are more pleased than ever that we found this spot!

What makes this villa unique

One of the great things about Maison Elise's location is its proximity to Carcassonne Airport. Within 30 minutes of landing we have collected the hire car, and arrived at the Villa; a great way to start your holiday! Once there, we find we use the bikes more than the car, as most of the things we need are within biking distance, and the Canal du Midi makes a very pleasant route to a lot of places we like to visit. We knew from the start that we would be renting the property out, and so the layout took this into consideration. By having two bedrooms and a bathroom on each floor, two families can share, yet still have some privacy. About the only drawback we have found to life in France is that we have to come home again, and that is something we get more reluctant to do with each visit!

Villa Elise has been thoughtfully designed and kitted out to make it a wonderful place for a holiday near Carcassonne, situated on a small road on the outskirts of a village. It is perfect for two families to share, and if you want to raid the local markets and self-cater, the kitchen has everything you will need. The pool area is great; room for the adults to relax in the sun and the kids to refresh themselves in the water. Villemaustoussou has local essentials and it is easy to drive into Carcassonne, or to many other places of interest, from the villa.

The property is located on the outskirts of the village. It is clean, comfortable and spacious with views of the Pyrenees from your bedroom window. There is a large patio area and a lovely outdoor pool. There is a wide range of places to explore locally and my daughter and I particularly enjoyed cycling (making use of the bicycles supplied by the villa's owners) and walking. We had a brilliant stay and would really recommend this.

Notes on accommodation: This modern villa was built in 2007 to a high standard. It includes full central heating and double glazing and has an open fire. Accommodation is arranged over 2 floors, with a large Master bedroom and a twin bedded room on the ground floor, served by a spacious bathroom and separate WC. You will also find the comfortable sitting and dining areas on this floor, both of which have patio doors out onto the pool terrace. The ground floor accommodation is completed by a fully equipped open plan kitchen, utility room and garage. Stairs lead to the first floor landing, where you can find a selection of books and games. Off this you will find another double bedroom, together with the second twin bedded room. These rooms share a shower room and separate wc.and enjoy views of the Pyrenees. Four bikes are provided for use by guests at their own risk. The pool is open from May to September, & the cost of heating it is included in the rental price. The villa is strictly no smoking, and we cannot accept pets. Outside: Outside the 8m x 4m Heated Pool, which comes with a safety cover, is linked to the house by a Terrace, complete with Loungers, Chairs, parasols, and the all important Barbecue. There is also a large covered area (Logia) and a dining table, with seating for 8. The gardens are fully enclosed, and extend to 1,500 sq. m. with lawns and shrubs. There is a garage, and ample parking. The front of the property has a wall and iron gates, while the remainder is fenced. There is lighting on the Terrace and Logia. Utility Room: A washer/dryer, large sink with drainer, vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board and other cleaning equipment can all be found in the Utility Room. (So my wife keeps telling me anyway!). There is also a door out to the garage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels are included in the price, (except pool towels), and are changed once a week. The property is cleaned on a weekly basis, as well as prior to each clients arrival. The pool is cleaned and chemical balanced at least once a week. Other: There is a cloak area under the stairs, and a large garage where you will find the bikes and garden furniture. A spacious covered area (Logia) adjacent to the Pool Terrace makes alfresco dining at the 8 seater table a real treat!

Lovely holiday in a lovely Villa for two families.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at this Villa. The Villa was so well equipped with everything you could possibly need, a home from home! It was clean and very spacious for two families. The location was perfect, quiet with lovely views. The pool was perfect for playing and relaxing in. There were plenty of activities such as the Aqua Parc within short driving distance. Our children (ages 11 to 15) particularly enjoyed the 02 Adventure, tree top climbing assault course with amazing zip wires. All activities were extremely good value for money, we even found a skate park in the local vacinity perfect for four teenage boys! The le cite was stunning and we loved the chateau, beautiful! We are only sorry we had to leave after a week and wish we could have stayed longer. Would defiantly recommend and next time make time for vine yard experience. 👌😄

It is great that you found plenty of activities locally to keep your children occupied! We have been to the area many times now, but still keep finding new things to do. Refundable Damage Deposit £250

Booking Notes:
A 25% deposit is payable at time of booking, with the balance payable 6 weeks before the holiday.
A cheque for £250.00 by way of a damage deposit is required at the time of the final payment. This will not be cashed, and is held purely as security against any damage which may be caused during the stay. Once the house has been found to be damage free after departure, the cheque will be destroyed, or returned.
Our English speaking caretakers will meet guests upon arrival.

Changeover Day:
From late June to late August change over day is Saturday. At other times we can be flexible. Arrival time is 4 pm and departure time 10am. If there are no 'overlapping' guests, this can also be flexible, subject to arrangement with our caretakers.

Notes on prices:
Minimum stay 7 nights during June, July, August and September.
Payment by cheque in £ Sterling, or in £ Sterling or Euros by bank transfer.
Please contact owners for longer term lets or short break rates out of season.
A cheque for £250.00 which will not be cashed is required at time of final payment, by way of a damage deposit.
