We run a very busy private cosmetic dental practice in Christchurch, Dorset which we established in 1992. This can get stressful at times so we really look forward to getting away to our apartment in Sao Martinho to recharge our batteries!

We had a fantastic time - apartment was great and we loved how close it was to the beach.

The Apartment was comfortable and ideally suited for trips for coffee, restaurants and the beautiful beach. We enjoyed using the pool and the tennis court and it was great they were both a stones throw from the apartment. San Martinho is a great place to spend time - beach was fun, lovely restaurants and ice cream places.

Fabulous week in a stunning apartment, we'll be back!

We've just retuned from a wonderful week at Simon's apartment. Everything was just as expected, the apartment was clean and stylish, the only thing that would have made our week that bit more perfect would have been slightly warmer weather, but we can't hold anyone responsible for that!

We thoroughly enjoyed our walks for coffee and people watching in Sao Martinho do Porto and found fabulous and really reasonable restaurants in the surrounding area. I definitely recommend you take a holiday in this apartment, we'll be back for certain.

The owner Simon was also a pleasure to deal with, all communication was fast and friendly and worry free.

Big beautiful apartment, lovely complex, lovely town

Beautiful apartment, spotlessly clean, great facilities and a great size for a family of 6 - a real 'home from home' comfort to it. The wifi within the apartment was a great bonus. The owner was a pleasure to deal with, very easy to contact, very helpful and always quick to respond to any queries. The complex is very conveniently located, less than 10 minutes walk to centre of town or beach. And to our mind anyway, the apartment was in the best location within the complex - ground floor, good sized courtyard outside the terrace for kids to play on, pool right beside that. Sao Martinho is a beautiful little town - ideal for families, especially with young children but worked very well for our teenager too. We hope to return to that region in the next few years and would definitely stay in this apartment again.

Beautiful spacious modern apartment

This apartment was perfect for our family of 5 with 3 teenagers. The owner Simon was great with giving detailed directions and responded to every email and text almost immediately. The booking process was made easy therefore. But the apartment exceeded our expectations. It was huge in a lovely gated quiet complex. The pool and gardens we're great and the apartment is on the ground floor facing the pool so fantastic for access. The bedrooms were fresh and clean with lovely crisp bedinen and lovely fluffy white towels. There is plenty of space for 6. The bathrooms are great. Nice jacuzzi bath. Plenty storage. The lichen had everything you will need. Not that I was hoovering very much but great in built vacuum system. The place was so clean that you wanted to keep it that way. There was also tennis court and play area. The complex was ideally situated about 10 min walk from town centre. It is a lovely town Sao martino do Porto gorgeous be he's and other little towns close by. Plenty restaurants but not overly spoiled. We found it lovely and relaxing with lots for family to do. Others we spoke to found the area to be quiet in terms of nightlife. But I would definitely would recommend this apartment as it is far nicer than the photos. The owner was also just brilliant to deal with. Thank you we had a lovely time. Liz

Excellent base for a lovely holiday

The apartment was spotless, spacious, bright and airy. The bedrooms are all a good size and there is plenty of storage. We travelled as a family, 2 + 3, ages 17, 16 and 8. Plenty of room for us all. Pool and tennis court a great hit with everyone and there are tennis rackets in the apartment. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.

Great base for a fantastic family holiday

The apartment was ideal for our family of five, our kids are 13,11 and 8. The large spacious rooms and the comfortable furnishings made the apartment have a home from home feeling and the kids loved the pool, tennis court and football area. The only slight negative was the wifi is only available from a restricted location down by the pool and there are no watchable TV channels in the apartment, however we took lots of DV The apartment is in a great location for exploring the local area. We were keen to explore and the medevial town of Obidos, surfer beaches around Peniche and the town of Foz do Arelho are all worth visiting. But the local beach and town of Sao Martinho do Porto are gorgeous and well within walking distance from the apartment....no need to go go anywhere else! The owners communication both when enquirying about the rental and during the booking and payment process was faultless, as were the directions and access instructions received via the management company. Overall, you cannot fail but to have a fabulous holiday in such a beautiful part of the world and this apartment makes a great base to do that from.

From the Owner

Sao Martinho is less than an hour from Lisbon and about two and a half hours flight from London. It is a lovely, clean and well maintained area with many varied restaurants and bars. There are many things to do both locally and further afield.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Barpub : Several to choose from at 1 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Many to choose from depending on your taste! at 1 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Sao Martinho do Porto at 1 Kilometres Car: recommended


A 10 minute walk to the beautiful wide sandy beach. The sheltered bay and gentle gradient makes it very safe for bathing and for children.

The promenade has many restaurants and bars - don't miss the 'Pastel de nata' with coffee at 'Bohemia' - our favourite place to sit and watch the world go by!


Lisbon airport is very conveniently placed at less than an hours drive away. Use of a car is recommended but not essential as there are regular buses and trains from Lisbon Airport to Sao Martinho.

Further Details:

A new 'intermarche' opened in 2011 which is conveniently placed just 10 minutes walk up the road.

The apartment has a well equipped kitchen and a dining table to seat 6. Sometimes we self cater but otherwise we eat in town at one of the many restaurants. The bars and restaurants are very cheap compared with those back home. This is a major benefit when you have four hungry kids in tow!
