2 Bedroom Cottage, Winkton, Christchurch, Dorset, Near New Forest & Coast

Updated: 08-Nov-2016
Cottage With Garden Suitable For Two Couples Or A Family Of Four,

Serendipity cottage is a rural retreat with two country inns nearby, with walks through the fields from the house. The cottage sleeps four comfortably, especially with wash basins in the bedrooms. There is also a bed-sofa downstairs. It is ten minutes drive to Mudeford perfect for swimming from the sandy beach, and crab fishing for the children. Christchurch Harbour offers beautiful views, and all types of water sports - windsurfing, canoeing, kite-surfing etc. with ferries to Christchurch town with its Priory, and also to Hengistbury Head. Christchurch is a busy little town with its Regent Theatre, shopping and its Monday Market. Visit the Nature Reserve at Stanpit Marsh for bird watching. The New Forest is great for walking, biking (hire a bike at Burley), horse riding, and plenty of country pubs to discover. Bournemouth and Poole are a short drive away with shops, entertainments and golden sands. Local fish sold at Mudeford, farm shops and 'pick your own' nearby.

About the Owner

Three of us like to go walking and bird-watching whilst Jeremy enjoys the windsurfing on the harbour, then meet up at one of the many cafes or pubs. We can then come back to the cottage and enjoy the peaceful garden, with its sun terrace. We love working on the garden. Because we use the cottage ourselves we have made sure it has every creature comfort and is fully equipped. Winkton has its two pubs, great if you don't want to cook, or to drive home; and its converient when we arrive late on a Friday evening.

Cute Cosy Comfy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely cottage. From the minute we arrived until we left it felt like home. Very clean, well furnished, lovely decor etc.Nice and spacious too. The beds were large with good mattresses ensuring a great nights sleep. The bathroom is modern and there was oodles of hot water. When we needed the heating it kept us toasty warm. We loved the garden which is very long and beautifully kept- so nice to sit in. The location was excellent for us. P S I loved the lounge curtains!!

Lovely home from home.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is great with everything you need for a break. Sadly our visit was spoilt by the neighbour with right of way.

He treated the garden as if it was his, making us feel uncomfortable sitting outside. Hopefully the owners will explain he should limit his use to avoid upsetting visitors.

Owner's Response: Sorry about the neighbour and the right of way. We always explain about this on the initial cottage enquiry that he needs to use it taking tools through for his gardening business.

Nice country cottage

  • 4 of 5

We spent a pleasant 3 days at this little house. It was very well equipped and everything had been well thought out. I wish I had found the Ordnance Survey map and walking booking book at beginning of our stay. Wifi would have been handy, I think these days it's expected when renting a property.

The Fishermens Haunt pub just across the road is excellent, but the Lamb pub 5 minutes down the road has just change ownership and isn't doing food at the moment.

We had a lovely trip out catching the ferry at Mudeford to Hengistbury head and walking round the headland. Also,Highcliffe Castle is a great place to visit. We walked there and back, again from Mudeford. Our walk was in rain and strong winds but still enjoyable.
