Cottage in Lanner, Nr. Truro/ Camborne, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Location Ideal For Walking And Cycling Holidays

One of this property’s greatest assets is the fact that the historic Tresavean Tramway runs alongside he property. This tramway forms part of the Cornwall Mineral tramways project. This is a haven for cyclists, horse riders and walkers. The rich mining areas of Cornwall’s central mining district now benefit from a 60km network of multi-activity trails. New trails have recently been created to link with existing routes such as the Coast to Coast trail, being mainly traffic free. The network offers people a unique opportunity to access a wide area that is rich in mining heritage and dramatic landscapes. Of course, we cannot forget our glorious beaches! Being centrally located the property is well placed for visiting beaches on both the North and South Coasts.

Fern cottage is situated in a quiet country location surrounded by trees and in an acre of garden. It needed completely renovating and we have enjoyed working for ten years or so in improving it.

Fantastic spot, lovely owners, great holiday =)

When we arrived we were greeted by Annie who was just lovely. The apartment was a lovely space with fresh flowers and afternoon tea which was so nice after a 3 hour drive. Throughout the week we saw Annie and Randall a bit and they gave us some ideas on places to eat, but they were never intrusive. Lovely private courtyard seating area outside and fantastic walking just outside the beautiful garden. We will definitely be staying again as we felt the accommodation was brilliant value for money. Being situated where it is, it was so easy to get to all of Cornwall and see so many places without having to travel too far each day. Thank you for having us =)

Cosy apartment with very welcoming owners

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fern Cottsge. The owners were very welcoming with a delicious cream tea and also provided fresh eggs, home made marmalade, local biscuits and fresh flowers. Randall and Annie were around and were very helpful but not intrusive.

The apartment was spotlessly clean, cosy and was well equipped. It is situated in a tranquil setting in lovely gardens. The position of the cottage in the middle of west Cornwall is ideal to explore the area. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

A little gem

We loved our stay at Fern cottage, Randall & Annie were wonderful hosts. The afternoon tea on arrival was most welcome after the long trip from Cumbria. The apartment had everything and probably more than the two of us needed for our weeks stay, it's also in good travelling distance of all the main Cornish attractions. We would have no problem in booking again if the opportunity arose in the future. Thanks again and all the best for the future.

An ideally located retreat

Fern Cottage is situated in a lovely, peaceful location yet close to amenities. A clean, cosy base with all the home comforts and thoughtful extras to make you feel welcome...fresh eggs, home made jams and flowers, plus a fantastic cream tea!! Lovely apartment in rural setting

A warm welcome from the owners who made us feel at home from the outset. The property contains everything needed for a cosy, comfortable stay. Fully equipped with lots of little thoughtful touches. Centrally situated to explore the coastline, countryside and villages situated in this beautiful part of the world. All in all we had a great stay and would love to return.

Portreath, with its rugged cliffs, fantastic surf, famous pasty shop and pretty harbour is just four miles away. Other glorious North coast beaches within easy reach include Perranporth, Gwithian, Hayle and the unforgettable St Ives Bay and Godrevy Light house. Bring your binoculars to see the seals! A twenty minute drive to the east takes you to the historic port of Falmouth and The Carrick Roads, renowned for sailing. To the South is the beautiful Helford River and West is St Ives.


From the A30 as you approach the Redruth area take the turn signposted Helston (B3296) and Scorrier A 3047. Continue along the A 3047 and turn right at the mini roundabout signposted Helston 12 Redruth 1 ¾ .

At the next mini roundabout (approx ¾ mile) keep straight on following signposts to Redruth, Falmouth and Heston (A393)

After another ¾ mile or so take a left of the mini roundabout signposted Falmouth and Helston (A393)

At the next junction(a double mini roundabout) follow signposts to Lanner 1 ¾ miles , Falmouth (A393),Helston (B 3297) (Almost straight on).

After another 3/4mile turn left at the a mini roundabout (Signposted Falmouth (A39), Lanner A393) and within30 yrds take the next right (not signposted).

Follow this road for 1 mile and turn left. (Again no sign post.)

Travel down the hill until you approach a bridge across the road. Our car park is immediately on the left before the bridge.

The post code is tr166ez if using a sat nab.
