About the property

Apartment in Penzance, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Location, Close To The Town Centre

A charming and pretty apartment located in one of the most sought-after areas of Penzance. In a quiet and picturesque listed Georgian terrace, surrounded by gardens, parks and trees, Sky Blue (the self-contained, ground floor of the owner's delightful blue house) has been completely renovated to a very high standard. The small front garden is a mass of colourful flowers and shrubs, and guests can sit in their own secluded patio area and bathe in the sunshine - perfect for morning coffee and afternoon tea. The south-facing apartment is spacious and light, furnished to combine both style and comfort and is ideally suited for couples who want to be just a few minutes stroll from the centre of this attractive and historic market town; everything is within walking distance. Sky Blue is an ideal base from which to explore the spectacular scenery of West Penwith and the bus and railway station are only 10 minutes walk away. And.. a Cornish cream tea is on the table for when you arrive!

About Romer Robins

I've lived in Penzance for the last 20 years. Previously I cooked for, and ran, a successful restaurant in Mevagissey, so food is an important part of my life. Penzance is a perfect town as everything is available 'around the corner': we have an excellent butcher, fresh fruit and vegetables, a fabulous Friday Farmers' Market and specialist food shops. There is no need to take the car out to the supermarket as it's all within easy walking distance. I want you to enjoy your stay in our lovely town and as I live in the house above Sky Blue, if you have any questions, or need to know anything, please feel free to knock on the door and ask. Enjoy your 'welcome' Cornish Cream Tea (home-made scones, strawberry jam and local clotted cream)!

What makes this apartment unique

Sky Blue is in a quiet little street but only minutes away from the town centre and all that Penzance has to offer. Penzance has been the last stop on the main line from London since the days of the Great Western Railway, and the town still feels one step removed from the rest of the county. With its hotchpotch of winding streets, old shopping arcades and grand seafront promenade, it makes an excellent base for exploring the rest of West Cornwall and Land’s End. Even without a car, the bus service can take you around the West Cornwall peninsula. The railway station will take you to many of the major Cornish towns and don't forget the Scilly Isles Ferry and the Heliport. So much to see and do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Sky Blue" was a real treat.

A very comfortable and convenient stay. Lovely to have space after a London hotel room!

We felt very welcomed and the apartment was perfect. The kitchen was so well equipped and Romer was on hand to give us the spices we needed!

We would definitely reccommend staying at "Sky Blue", the owner is lovely!

First impressions, Wow, what a beautiful place! We even had a barbeque in the garden!

A beautiful apartment. Spacious, clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. And to top it all off, a cream tea on arrival!

Only thing to bear in mind is the parking space is quite tight, so if you have a big car, you may want to park on the road, which is a 30 second walk away.

Owner's Response: Thank you for a five star review. We do have another parking space just around the corner that Dave uses and he will just do a swap for anyone having trouble parking. He has no problem accessing the space.

Spacious and comfortable, good location, friendly owners

  • 5 of 5

We were surprised by how roomy and open this space was. We didn't get a chance to enjoy their garden allotment across the way, but we did sit in the sun at the little table outside our door, surrounded by flowers. We had great weather while we were there. The heat worked fine, when we needed it, which wasn't often.

The owners were very kind and friendly and gave us information about the area. I wish we'd had more time to chat with them, but we had such a full itinerary that it seemed we were always rushing for a bus!

The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed, even carrier bags for grocery shopping. A full refrigerator and freezer was a nice bonus. There were plenty of dishes and glasses, and best of all, a good selection of pans. You can really cook here if you want to, and we do cook a lot when we travel.

The location is near everything we needed: grocers, restaurants, bakeries, and our favorite, lots of charity shops! Also close to Penlee House and the Morrab Gardens. The bus stop for Mousehole and Porthcurno was just 2 minutes' walk away.

The only extras I can think of would be a full-length mirror, some hooks in the bathroom, and stronger wifi in the bedroom. Other than that, it was quite perfect. I'd love to stay there again!

Sky Blue

  • 5 of 5

It was a very comfortable, well-equipped apartment in a good location. Lovely big sofa and comfy bed. Cream tea upon arrival and there were essentials such as milk, tea, coffee etc. I was in Penzance to walk some of the SW coast path and it was a great place to come back to each evening after long hikes. Shops and cinemas close by.

Warm, spacious, comfortable and cosy.

  • 5 of 5

Usually travel down to Penzance every couple of years to see family and friends. Generally come out of season so used to it being bracing. The property was warm and comfortable. The owner introduced herself on my second day and was easily available but unobtrusive. Made very welcome by a cream tea and flowers left for me.

Very central for Penzance town centre and the promenade but very, very quiet. Lovely to see so much provided like bin bags and kitchen roll, tea and coffee etc, so you didn't have to obtain unnecessary items.

Was very warm and keeps the rain and wind very much at bay. For a one or two person stay it's very large and didn't feel cramped at all. In warmer weather the little table by the door and the opposite garden would be lovely.

Apartment lovely.Cream tea/flowers a nice touch!

Travelled by train to Penzance so used buses to get around-no problem even though into autumn timetable.Visited Mousehole, St Ives, Marazion (and walked over causeway to St Michael's Mount as tide was out) also Newlyn. Lovely weather despite winter creeping in meant we could do some walking as well.

All in all a lovely break.

Further Details:

Located on the shores of Mount's Bay, Penzance is Cornwall's largest and most westerly borough. Only 10 miles from Land's End, the town is surrounded by an area of Celtic culture and outstanding natural beauty.

Stunning cliffs, rocky coves, pristine sandy beaches and crystal clear seas. Moorland scattered with early Christian and Bronze Age sites form a landscape that is the heritage of a proud culture and a source of inspiration for artists, writers and poets.

Home to a thriving artistic community, Penzance is full of interesting shops and boasts one of the best gastronomic reputations in Cornwall, including award winning restaurants and some of the best fresh fish and seafood available in the country.

A stroll down historic Chapel Street, with its antique shops and beautiful architecture will eventually lead you to the sea where you will find our famous art deco lido, the Jubilee Pool.

Fishing villages, cliff-top walks, sub-tropical vegetation and a wealth of industrial and maritime heritage make the district surrounding Penzance a fascinating area to explore. All around the coastline the sea is clean and clear and for water sports enthusiasts there are excellent opportunities for surfing, kite boarding and sailing.

The 'jewel in the crown' of Mount's Bay is the island castle of St Michael's Mount. Further west lies the Minack Theatre, set dramatically in the cliffs above the sea. There are a great variety of attractions open to the visitor: Penlee Museum (in town) with it's fine Newlyn Art School collection, the Leach Pottery and Tate Gallery in St Ives, Paradise Park bird sanctuary in Hayle and many others.

With numerous museums, galleries and other attractions, in and around Penzance, plus the best Cornish food, drink and entertainment in our great range of bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs, you will never be short of things to do.
