Top Traveller Review

About the Owner

Pat and Paul met at Ilford Palais in London in 1963, they retired early from college careers in 1997 and bought the property in 2001 which they then converted themselves. The property has been holiday let for 10 years. Paul's mother came from Cumbria and he spent his holidays as a child here and recalls sunshine, pushing cars up hills and near traffic free roads. Pat is artistic singing with an excellent local choir and acting as treasurer of Keswick Society of Arts. We have two children, a son who owns a local estate agency and daughter who is a social worker in the south. Three grandchildren enrich our lives.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Hewison family commented: 'Being a 'home' being before it was a holiday let, showed. Thank you for allowing it to be our home for a fantastic holiday. The owners gave a very warm welcome which was much appreciated. I would recommend Greenhow to others and I hope we return ourselves one day'.

Another enjoyable week at Greenhow. The children have enjoyed feeding the geese with the farmer and hearing about the animals that used to live in the barns. Green family

Had a fantastic week- weather been kind to us. Cottage lovely, would not hesitate returning. Ramblers

Location

From the Owner

We purchased this barn in 1999 and converted it as a 5* cottage. It is in the driest corner of the Lake District with access to the Pennines and Hadrians Wall. The Lake District has a huge range of activities with Rheged, a huge underground complex nearby providing undercover options. Whatever the weather, and often winter is the best with a dusting of snow on the tops, quiet walks (although more and more people are catching on) and good food and drink, it is an ideal base.

Facilities

From the Owner

Because we converted it ourselves Greenhow has something of our personality. We love it, and believe you will to. The owners live 15kms away so if there is a problem then a rapid response is given or if a query about the best walks, this can easily be answered. Because of its size and the presence of three bat5hrooms and a cloakroom, it is ideal for families or friends having a 'get together'.
