Weekend Break in Salty Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We had a really relaxing weekend at Salty Cottage, perfect for all our needs. Our son bagged the loft room which was a good choice as the stairs were steep and narrow. All the bedrooms are very tastefully decorated with plenty of space and very well equipped. The ground floor rooms are typical of a fisherman's cottage, very cosy in the evenings.

As the weather was kind to us we made the most of the beautiful secluded garden, spending early morning with a book and having BBQs and relaxing on the decking/day bed with the lanterns and candles burning. Fantastic.

Maddi, the housekeeper met us and was most helpful.

We parked our car in a street behind the cottage for the whole weekend as there is plenty to do and see in the town plus pleasant walks along the beach front in both directions. Or the harbour for a fishy treat.

We would definitely recommend the cottage and hope to return again in the near future.

We loved it here.

Salty Cottage won our hearts from the moment we walked through the front door, tastfully decorated, it oozes character in every room.

The cosy lounge with comfy sofa, soft lighting and "snuggle up"wood burner,

the ample dining room with candles, china and "drink me" wine,

the functional kitchen with top quality appliances,

the bath/shower room well stocked with towels and endless hot water...... and thats just the ground floor.

The central staircase with rope handrail leads up to three spacious double bedrooms all beautifully decorated and equiped with hairdryers, clocks, more towels, baby facilities, childs toys/ books and more.

The rear garden is secluded with a BBQ and decked area to relax in, the day bed, although we didnt use it in January, would be a delight in the summer months.

The location is good, a local Co-op is just across the road, and it is a short stroll to the town centre where there are many pubs and restaurants. The beach is only a ten minute walk away where the Old Neptune Inn sits on the shoreline. The train station again is a short walk away.

Booking this delightful cottage was very straight forward with Jim via email, who responded prompty and offered help and advice.

The cottage was well prepared for our arrival, the housekeeper was very helpful and available when needed.

What more can I say.....We had a fantastic stay in Whitstable mainly due to Salty Cottage.

We would highly recommend a stay here to our friends and family.

A wonderful week in Whitstable

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Salty Cottage over the Easter break and the weather played along beautifully. The cottage met with our every need and we were very comfortable for the duration of our stay. Great added extras like toys, books, Wii, board games and more. The garden is an oasis all in itself and we spent every morning and late evening in there. We overcome the parking issue mentioned in another review by buying a permit to park at the sttaion. £14.50 for the week, a short walk to the cottage and we didn't need the car until we left. I would highly recommend a stay here!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review, and really glad you enjoyed your stay. Also we much appreciate your advice on parking, as Whitstable is known for being a bit tricky to park in at peak times and although there is free parking on the road behind the cottage, we understand it can be frustrating if there are no spaces available. We also love it down there and it makes us very happy when guests have a wonderful stay. Many thanks again. Jim, Paula & Ollie.

Salty cottage is a very pretty cottage with 3 lovely bedrooms, and has been decorated tastefully throughout. I would say that the cottage is more suitable for short stays than long stays. I have to be honest and say that when we arrived we were disappointed at the location of the cottage which is on a busy road, and is not easy to stop at to unload the car, and parking is around the back of the house on a very tight residential street on a first come basis My husband had to drive round several times to try and find a spot to park and I feel that this is not conveyed on the advertisement.
