Charming Stream Side Cottage, Boscastle, Cornwall, England

Overview

Property

Updated: 06-Nov-2016
Cottage in Boscastle, Cornwall, England - Only A Short Walk From Boscastle Harbour And Village Centre, Perfectly Placed For Cliff Top Walks

Frogapits is a traditional stone-built Cornish cottage that has a charm all of its own. Set in a beautiful garden with a stream running through it, it's a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the perfect Cornish holiday. There are plenty of activities to be had during the day - cliff-top walks straight from the front door, beaches and surf spots within easy driving distance. In the evening, relax with a barbecue by the stream in the garden, or walk to one of Boscastle's three characterful pubs (the nearest of which is only 50 yards away). In the winter, the cottage comes into its own with a wood burning stove in the sitting room and a smokeless fuel stove in the kitchen - get both going at once and it couldn't be cosier. We really believe that you'd be hard pushed to find a house with so much going for it - as a family we've been staying here for decades and hope to do so for many more.

Idyllic, secluded yet convenient

  • 5 of 5

This is a very charming and sweet old cottage, tastefully decorated with excellent facilities. Although the village is only a few hundred yards away, when you are in the secluded (but sunny) garden you feel like you are in a rural setting, with the stream running adjacent. The log burner makes for cosy night times. Excellent bath and shower and very comfy bed. We hope to return soon.

Perfect

This was such a fun experience for us! Frogapits is a cute little cottage in a beautiful setting. It's very close to everything you need in town. We didn't have a car and had no problems with that - there are friendly taxi drivers in the area and the bus stop is really just a few minutes walk down the hill from the cottage. Our favorite days were the days we took local walks, had great meals at pubs in town, and then returned to our little sitting room with a glass of wine and the fire. We would love to return. :-)

well located cosy cottage with fabulous garden

  • 4 of 5

Frogapits is probably the best appointed cottage in Boscastle. With the large garden surrounding the property, there is sunshine all day. There are lots of different areas to sit in the garden to enjoy the sunshine. The garden & stream were a big hit for us, our teenage children and our whippet.

Inside it is roomy and very cosy with the 2 wood burners & everything you could need is supplied. You don't need a car - fabulous coastal walks in both directions are 2 minutes' walk from the cottage. We will definitely return, it's so idyllic. The only thing we would change is the double bed - too soft for us but that is so personal and certainly wouldn't put us off returning!

Perfect cottage, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Frogapits is a wonderful cosy cottage. Myself and my partner came here for his birthday weekend. We'd stayed at a village nearby before last year and had visited Boscastle before so was keen to find a cottage this time in Boscastle as its such a lovely village.

The cottage was just what I expected, a complete home from home. I loved the two log burners, was so nice to have one on whilst having a glass of wine cooking, and also when relaxing in living room.

The stream in the garden is fabulous. You really have to see it and hear it to appreciate it. It must be wonderful in the summer evenings for sure.

There's lots of different walks on the Frogapits website which is really handy. We had some good spring weather for some nice walks. Although the cottage was so cosy it was perfect just relaxing and reading indoors. I loved all the books in the living room.

Lovely touch with the pint of milk and biscuits left for our arrival too :-)

The pubs in the village are literally a few minutes walk away, perfect! There's some lovely shops too in the village which I could have spent hours browsing in! Must must visit the Boscastle farm shop too, it's a real gem. just a little further down the road.

Perfect cottage, perfect Boscastle :-)

Lovely Cottage in an Ideal Location

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 2 daughters, 2 dogs and myself spent a lovely week at Frogapits. the cottage is so pretty it puts you in the holiday mood as soon as you see it. Although small, the cottage feels very spacious inside and the bathroom is very large, with ample hot water and a shower that is better than the one we have at home. The cottage is extremely well equipped and was immaculately clean when we arrived, with thoughtful touches such as milk in the fridge and loo paper in the bathroom. The separate utility room was a real bonus. Not only could we wash and dry wet and muddy clothes, we could put the dogs in there to dry off after their many swims in the sea!

The garden is very pretty and well fenced in, although it took our dogs about 2 minutes to work out how to get into the stream which runs through the garden in quite a deep channel.

The location couldn't be better, the house and garden are not overlooked at all but the cottage is literally 1 minutes walk into Boscastle, which has good pubs and a shop that's sells everything - including dog leads. The only tricky thing (and it's a very minor one) is the road outside the cottage which is not at all busy but is very narrow - obviously not designed with todays transport in mind but definitely part of the charm of the village. We had several hairy moments with our Volvo, I'm not sure I'd want to take a 4x4 down the lane!

Rob and Duncan were very responsive and answered our queries very promptly, they were delightful to deal with.

We had a wonderful stay and would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a family holiday in the area.

Owner's Response: I'm so pleased that you had a good stay Rowna and thanks very much for taking the time to write a review for us. Its always great to hear that guests (and their dogs!) enjoy Frogapits as much as we do. I'm afraid the road down to the cottage is just one of those cornish quirks, but glad you managed to negotiate it without too much difficulty! Looking forward to welcoming you back to Frogapits soon.

Simply idyllic !

  • 5 of 5

Frogapits is the most charming, idyllic place. Perfectly located in a quiet road less than a minute from the heart of the village with its lovely cafes, restaurants and shops and just a few minutes walk to the harbour, the headlands and the coastal path. The cottage is an enchanted haven, perfectly cosy, pristinely clean and well equipped with a beautiful garden. I stayed there with just my little dog and we walked and walked and walked along the coast and up the beautiful Valency Valley and played ball on nearby beaches at Trebarwith Strand and Strangles. I have truly fallen in love with Frogapits, Boscastle and Cornwall and can't wait to return.

Owner's Response: Thanks again for the fantastic review Louise. It's always so nice when guests enjoy staying at the cottage as much as we do - we genuinely believe there's something very special about Frogapits and Boscastle. We've been holidaying there since we were small, but the cottage and village never lose their charm. Looking forward to welcoming you back again soon!

Location

Whether you're having a summer barbecue or picnic by the stream in the garden, or battening down the hatches, lighting the fires and keeping out the Cornish weather in the winter, the cottage is a wonderful place to spend a relaxing break. The rugged north Cornish cliffs are only a short walk away, there are beaches to drive to in the summer, some wonderful village pubs to spend the evening, great Cornish pasties to be had from the village baker's, and so many other things to enjoy about your stay here.
