About the property

Chalet in Morzine, Haute Savoie, Rhone-Alpes, France - 5 Minutes Walk To Pleney And Super Morzine Lifts

Large spacious luxury catered or self-catered chalet in central Morzine. Unlike many chalets built for the holiday rental market we wanted to create a better balance between the amount of space given over to bedrooms versus living space. As a result the chalet has great entertaining and relaxing space as well as good sized and comfortable en suite bedrooms. We also wanted to enjoy the same sort of quality materials and furnishings we might have in our home in London so instead of the cheapest wood and plaster on the walls and the most basic tiles in the bathrooms and on the floors you'll find quality english carpet, tumbled marble throughout and a sturdy 'brushed and cooked' pine on nearly all the walls and ceilings. The built in furniture was made by a local craftsman. This will be the second year we have made chalet Geronimo available commercially. Over the last 13 seasons of hosting family, friends and colleagues we feel we understand what people want from a great chalet holiday.

About Julian Dodds

Chalet Geronimo was born in 2002.

I live in Balham with my long term partner Yvette and our two children, Coco (19) and Christo (12).

For the past 13 years we have hosted over 60 ski weeks and 35 ski weekends for family, friends and colleagues in groups as small as 3 to 35! Every year we spend a couple of weeks there during the summer and whenever the tour de France rolls into town.

Having reached the age of 55 I have taken a back seat at the office and now manage my property interests as well as playing a business Angel role to start up companies.

Having played host on so many occasions and loved the experience I always thought that some day I'd have a go at doing it commercially - so here we go!

Julian Dodds purchased this chalet in 2002

The chalet we've stayed in

Chalet Geronimo is a real treat. We have stayed in many chalets in many resorts but this has to be the nicest one so far. Very spacious lounge area with 4 really lovely bedrooms. The 5th room - bunk bed room was quite funstional but still done well. Close to the slopes and to the town. Terrific

Me and my family (11 of us in total) have just returned from a 5 night skiing holiday in Morzine staying at Chalet Geronimo, and it is safe to say we will be going back next year...!

The pictures do not do it justice. We pulled up and could not believe the size of the chalet! Once we were all in, we were just stunned at how beautiful it was and how cosy it made you feel. It has everything you need for a wonderful stay; sky tv, coffee machine, log fire, hot tub, games room, iPod dock, wifi and most importantly EVERY bedroom had an en-suite.

The location of this chalet could not have been any better, just a 5 minute walk to the centre of Morzine - this offered us great views of the town and the mountains both day and night. If you rent ski's I would advise renting from ski set (abc shop) as its on the way to the town which means you can leave your skis at the shop over night instead of lugging them around.

Overall a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this chalet.

Thanks to Julian who was very helpful when booking our holiday and answered any questions we had very quickly, the communication was great.

The Perfect House in Morzine

  • 5 of 5

The perfect house to holiday in.... in Morzine.

I know I should say chalet... but this is a huge, stylish, beautiful 'town house' (I'm a 35yo Londoner, so the term Chalet doesn't sit easy with me!) to stay in. From now on I'm going to refer to the Chalet as a house.

The house is fantastic. On three floors it's huge. Much larger than the photos on this website suggest. It's also far more beautiful than the photos suggest. As an architect, when I saw the website I thought the house looked cool. When I arrived... well... its the perfect mix of ski-chic and homely without feeling like you have stepped into someone else's house.

I hope I haven't shot myself in the foot with this review by encouraging too many people to book this place, as I plan to have it next year!

Also, the owner is very accommodating, friendly and very helpful.

I'm sorry I didn't get to liaise with the owner directly, but my direct message is... from the 'Kong Party' at the end of Jan 16 - thank you - your place is fabulous.

Great chalet, great location and great town

  • 5 of 5

A group of seven work colleagues rented the Chalet in Jan 2016. While there's no doubt that we were very lucky with both the snow and the weather, the house provided us with the base we would have needed if we hadn't been so lucky on these fronts. Very helpful owner with ideas and suggestions for ski rental, restaurants and non skiing activities. The hot tub was very much appreciated to soothe sore limbs in the evenings and the living space very comfortable, (Actually more comfortable than some of the photos make it look to be honest), and spacious. A wonderful location perfect for colleagues, friends, couples and families. Close(but not dangerously so) to the apres ski nightlife and a 5 min walk to the rentals at the base of the Pleney lift, maybe 7-8 mins from Super Morzine.
