Guestbook comments from the owner
In a quiet and peaceful location on the west part of the island, with a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea, we spent an unforgettable holiday in 8/ 2012 and we adored the cottage. Really charming, just what you need to relax during the summer holidays! Thank you very much for your warm welcome Evy, and your hospitality at our arrival. Your personal guides and books as well as your advice on Andros were both very helpful and interesting, including lovely places to visit. The cottage is really comfortable and well equipped with everything you need, especially your attention to details make your place feel like home. We really enjoyed the near beaches in tranquil, undisturbed areas, with crystal clear water and a lovely temperature. Ideal for snorkelling! The scenery around the island is truly stunning, and the views from the mountains are purely magical!
All in all, we loved our holidays spent in Andros and would definitely love to come again!

Lovely Villa on Andros
We really enjoyed our stay at Efidatia. Evy is a wonderful host and arranged for a guided arrival to the beautiful house overlooking the sea, with a delicious dinner awaiting. The house is gorgeous, well appointed, clean, and private. A car is necessary, and exploring up the hill from the house you will find delightful natural springs for fresh drinking water and a wonderfully situated taverna with magnificent views. Sunsets from Efidatia's terrace are splendid, too. We were so relaxed after our time exploring Andros and returning to the villa. Many thanks to Evy for sharing this amazing place.
We arrived in Athens after many months of travel, quite exhausted and depressed after a robbery in Barcelona. Evy brought us to Andros and her wonderful house, and we have been transformed! We were going to stay for a few days, and ended up staying for two weeks!
The house is absolutely charming--beautifully decorated, all in blue, with all the modern conveniences and in perfect condition. The view is breathtaking, down across a prehistoric archaeological site to the brilliant sea. Quiet and restorative.
Some points: no dishwasher, no WiFi (so get a portable WiFi device, as we did), shower only. We have now bought the house a microwave, so that is now available! You must rent a car to explore this island--several very reasonable options are available at the ferry landing in Gavrion. The island is remarkably well-stocked, with several towns, lots of restaurants, markets and shops, both in Batsi and Gavrion, and especially in Andros (Chora) on the other side of the island. We loved this island for being an authentic Greek place, not filled with tourist resorts and with lots of local products and attractions. Archaeological sites abound, along with stunning views and babbling brooks in fern glades (lots more water on this island than others).
We will definitely be back, and we can definitely recommend Efidatia!
Efidatia Cottage is what it says it is. It's comfortable, extremely well-equipped and has a lovely verandah with fantastic views over the Aegean. We were not disturbed by neighbours or road noise. The local town Batsi has lots of good places to eat, and you can get to many different beaches by car. The owner is very helpful and welcoming. All in all, Efidatia Cottage does not disappoint.
Wonderful house in a great location!
A modern, well equipped house with a magical view over the sea and hills. Many books and leaflets showing beaches, things to do and walks. We liked being out of town, but only a short drive away. Excellent value and a very helpful owner.
The cottage at Aprovato, offered excellent view.
It was fully equipped, with spacious living room and bedrooms.
The distances for the most famous beaches of the island were very convenient.
It offered to our family, very pleasant vacation!
From the Owner
“I bought this property as an investment. The cottage is compact, easily maintained and close to Athens-I need 3 hours (2 of which in the boat enjoying sea and colors) from home to...home. The location is advantageous since it provides wonderful sea views and glorious sunsets. I also love to watch the boats go by and check if they're on schedule! The island itself is rich in history and rich in views, so I can select what to do. Beaches are clean and waters clear and I can swim in the protected gulfs even when Aegean gale winds blow hard. It's not a cosmopolitan island in the 'Myconean' or 'Ibizean' sense and I like that. It's more quiet and family oriented. Even so, there are touches of cosmopolitanism in certain places and beaches. I can have super vacations at Efidatia cottage in Andros!”
Activity and Interests
Special interest holidays:
A Cookery course "Introduction to Greek cuisine" can be arranged upon request! Special Greek dishes will be prepared in the cottage's kitchen, ingredients will be explained and the results will be served for a nice meal at home! The recipes will be handed out. Menus will be decided beforehand according to your preferences!
The closest beaches are Ag. Marina, Anerounda, Batsi, Chrisi Ammos, Agios Petros, Perrakis, Halkolimniona, etc . They are about 10'-15' drive from the cottage. Ag. Marina can also be reached on foot (about 20'-30' going downhill, an exercise to walk back uphill!).
These are sand and small pebble beaches with cool crystal-clear blue waters sheltered from most winds. The island has lots of other beaches (Vitali, Gialia, Fellos, Ateni, Ahla) to suit all preferences. Information can be provided.
Athens Eleftherios Venizelos airport is the nearest airport. It is approximately a 30' drive to Rafina port where the boat for Andros can be taken (taxi to Rafina approximately 25-30 Euros). Boats sail every day at various times. (Approximately 19 Euros one-way per person and 42 euros one-way per private car). A car rental is strongly recommended if one wants to fully appreciate this beautiful island (20-40 Euros per day). This can be done on the island and help can be provided.
Eleftherios Venizelos airport to Rafina port: 14,8 km (about 30 min.)
Rafina port to Gavrion port on Andros island: 77,6 km or 41,9 nautical miles (about 2 hours)
Gavrion port to Batsi town: 5,7 km (about 10 min.)
Batsi town to "Efidatia" cottage (about 10 min.)
Batsi town to Hora Androu town: 25,2 km (about 40 min.)
The closest town is Batsi with lots of tavernas, restaurants, crepe eateries, ice-cream parlours. There are supermarkets, butcher's and produce shops, a pharmacy and some shops ( tourist products, clothes stores, jewellery, local pottery), as well as an internet cafe. The same holds for Gavrion port ( banks, internet cafes, open-air market every day with local produce and fish market, shops). Hora Androu has the most of everything (bank branches, posh shops, museums, galleries, libraries, internet cafe, cafeterias, bistros). Hiking/Cycling can be very rewarding in Andros (hiking guides available). Windsurfing is also available at Agios Petros' beach.

From the Owner
“Even though the property is part of a complex of properties, one doesn't feel crowded since the cottage is the last one in the row. So, we feel part of a residential area but also just enough on our own to bring down tensions and enjoy the tranquility! Night is dark and quiet! Day is bright and happy! Many friends reside in Andros in the summer, so we have nice get-togethers, we go dancing to traditional festivals, or...we just swim and then sit-in enjoying the Aegean sea or the starry sky and a good book at the veranda! The veranda itself offers beautiful views all day long, in the morning and at night. Because of the location of the house one does not feel isolated since the towns of Batsi and Gavrion can be seen from the veranda and reached within 10-15 minutes by car.”
