About the property

Gite in Pressignac-Vicq Nr Lalinde, Dordogne, France - Hamlet Location Within 10 Minutes Of Lalinde And 20 minutes Easy Reach Of Bergerac

Coming on holiday to the Dordogne is always a joy and Le Rozier is the perfect example of a French country hamlet. La Grange is a professionally renovated barn, dating back to 1650 where we have kept all the beams and stonework in place and mixed it with modern style living. If you feel like a laze in the garden, taking a stroll in the countryside and woods, going for a horse ride or doing some wine tasting - all are on the doorstep. For history lovers we are near the Bastide towns of Lalinde, Beaumont and Monpazier. Chateaux are everywhere and the Dordogne river only 10 mins away with canoes, walks, fishing or just a good old paddle! Bergerac is 20 mins away, with Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Bayac and La Roque Gageac a short drive from your holiday gite. Bergerac is only 25 minutes from La Grange and Perigueux is 50. STOP PRESS: THE TOUR DE FRANCE WILL BE IN LALINDE ON 11/7/17 - JUST 10 MINS FROM LA GRANGE!!!!!

About Caroline Oliver

We are a Franco/Anglo couple who moved to La Belle Dordogne in 2006 and haven't regretted it for a minute. We love being part of the local community and enjoying all the peace and tranquility that country living brings. We chose this area as it is quiet and beautiful - but if you want to go out everything is just a short drive away.

Caroline Oliver purchased this barn in 2006

Why Caroline Oliver chose Perigord Pourpre

We moved here from Perpignan, where we met and married, and where we lived whilst searching for the perfect property in Dordogne, which took us 6 months. We wanted more space and fresh air!

We visited the house (the last on the days list) on a dark January evening - only after the local estate agent persuaded us this was worth seeing. It was love at first sight and we have lovingly updated the house and renovated the adjoining barn as a gite.

What makes this barn unique

Beautiful Dordogne countryside but with lively places to go to when you wish.

The first thing that our visitors to the gite say is "wow" and "it's much bigger than we expected". I guess I need to get better with my photography!!

To help you imagine what 100m² looks like in a property, it's about the size of a 3 bed detached bungalow in the UK.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an excellent time at La Grange. The barn has been very sensitively renovated to retain a real French 'ambiance'. It is spacious, comfortable and full of character; the kitchen is well equipped too. The owners, Caroline and Xavier, live in the main house next door and are very approachable. They are always there to help or give advice but are never intrusive – we warmed to them both straightaway. There is very nice private area for sunbathing just to the rear with access to the grounds of the house. Lalinde is only a short drive away and is very pleasant town well placed to allow exploration of the area. We were very happy in La Grange and will certainly recommend it to our friends! We really enjoyed our stay with you - the gite was brill and we could not have asked for more! David & Gill July 2013

Happy Returns

  • 5 of 5

This property is amazing. It has all you need, set in the wonderful French countryside. Very peaceful and quiet, yet only a few minutes from Lalinde. Why stay anywhere else? Caroline and Xavier, owners, could not have been more friendly, answering any questions we raised, whether is was about places to eat or visit. We ate several times at La Coloubre, in Lalinde's main square, service and food was excellent.

Can't wait to return

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your second stay at La Grange, it was great to see you back, enjoying the weather and lovely Dordogne. I saw you a few times having lunch outside in the town square and wished I could have joined you for a quick rose ( but work got in the way!) Can't wait for you to return either!

Clean, spacious and very comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We booked this week away to recharge our batteries and the location and facility fulfilled that entirely. Very pleased with all aspects of the property. We were very lucky with having very hot sunny weather and this made it even better. Lovely part of France and our hosts bent over backwards including ensuring that my husband could watch the final stage of the Tour de France!

A great property in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

The property is well appointed and had the advantage for us of Sky tv during Wimbledon and the Tour de France. We had some exceptionally hot weather during our stay but the thick stone walls of the property kept us cool at all times.

Caroline and Xavier were exemplary hosts making us feel welcome from the start and being available for help and advice when requested, but otherwise keeping a low profile.

Local attractions are too numerous to mention but the many Bastide villages in the area were a delight to visit. We walked, cycled(hired from Lalinde), canoed, descended a cave by nacelle and traversed a cliff face on a Via Ferrata. A great holiday.

Running out of superlatives

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful, simply wonderful. Lovely gite, and the photos do not do the size justice. Had a perfectly peaceful week here and didn't want to leave, in fact, I nearly staged a sit in!

Caroline is the nicest person you could wish to meet. So friendly and helpful, as are the whole family. The dogs are a delight, including the one that is half collie, half lurcher and half Usain Bolt!

I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends.

Owner's Response: Oh how you made us laugh with your Usain Bolt reference to Rusty the dog - you got him spot on! We are so glad you had a good time here in sunny Dordogne, and thank you for your wonderful review.

Stylish barn renovation

  • 5 of 5

We looked at a lot of properties in the area before choosing La Grange, this was the most attractive and the photos do it justice. It's a really tasteful barn conversion, very spacious and much larger than you'd expect for a one bedroom place. The owners Caroline and Xavier are really friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We enjoyed the company of the two dogs Cinders and Rusty ( though Caroline checks out your views on hounds first). The house is 10 minutes from a lovely riverside town, Lalinde. I'd recommend the canoeing from Limeuil (they drive you upstream and you basically float back down) - very reasonable price, also two amazing abbeys, Cadouin and Paunat.

Wonderful Rural Retreat near Lalinde

  • 5 of 5

Caroline and Xavier provide a first class rural retreat and we were delighted with the facilities and the location.

The gite is only half an hour from Bergerac airport and 5 minutes from the town of Lalinde and main roads through the valley but a life away from the noise and bustle of towns and cities. It offers peace in the French countryside.

On the first day Caroline's instructions got us straight to the door better than any sat nav could and we were made to feel completely welcome from the start. The gite matched its description and pictures on the web site. It was very clean, comfortable and well equipped and gave us a rural retreat that we relaxed into immediately. Caroline and Xavier were on hand with advice on places to see and festivals and restaurants to visit - they have the balance just right - they are excellent hosts and we wish them every success in the future. Their hard work and dedication to customer service shines through.
