Overview

About the property

Home in Gaucin, Ronda Area Andalucia, Spain - A Peaceful Mountainside Location, 40 Minutes From Ronda And 45 Minutes To The Coast

Our home, El Pindolo, is a modern country house but built in the traditional style of a Spanish white house. It is surrounded by corks, carobs, pine, olive and almond trees, with ample private parking space and it's own driveway. We have a private pool with a small bar - perfect for those long hot days in the sun, followed by evening cocktails and dining. The views from the house and swimming area are simply magical and take in the nearby castle, the mountains, the distant sea, Gibraltar, and Africa. It is truly stunning and needs to be seen to appreciate just how beautiful this part of Spain really is.

Whether you are coming to Spain to enjoy the hot summers or the pleasant winters, El Pindolo is a family home and is suited and designed for all conditions. There are log burners and central heating for the winter, or pool for the summer.

The village of Gaucin offers some fantastic bars and restaurants, along with the famous Andalusian character, wit and hospitality. The City of Ronda is about half an hour away should you wish to experience some more culture, restaurants and shopping.

For those of you who enjoy the beach, there are several locations worth visiting on the coast, which is also about 30 to 40 minutes drive away. The beaches are clean and offer clear blue swimming in the Mediterranean, along with many beach side facilities. Tarifa is not too far away either should you be inclined to brave the wild surfing seas!

There are several golf courses nearby - between Gaucin and Malaga, all of which are easy to get to.

Walks can be taken in the picturesque mountains, so whether you are a professional walker or just keen to look at the views and area, there is something to suit all tastes and abilities.

Our home does truly offer the best of all worlds. If you want to relax by the pool and have privacy then El Pindolo offers all you need. If visiting areas of beauty, going to the beach or golfing is on your agenda, then El Pindolo is equally suited to your needs.

There are three double bedrooms - all with ensuite facilities. For dining there are several options. Firstly there is a truly stunning glass room with retractable glass doors. We found ourselves eating in this room most of the time because you can admire the views either in the open air, or for those slightly fresher evenings, with the glass doors closed. Secondly there is a family dining table in the kitchen area which can accommodate 10 people or more. Finally, take your pick of two outside areas to eat - the bar at one end of the pool, or a covered dining area at the other end.

We hope you will love El Pindolo as much as our family and friends have done over the years. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

About Fiona Carter

My Parents-in-law first came to Gaucin to visit friends in 1997. By the end of that day they had fallen in love with the village and bought a dear little holiday home in the heart of Gaucin the very next day. They were still working then, and when they retired in 2002, they decided that they wanted to spend their lives permanently in Gaucin. They looked around for a plot of land and soon built exactly what they wanted, a house and little guest house in the campo (countryside) but within walking distance of Gaucin. There is such a great atmosphere here and we have all made so many good friends, which has been a bonus. My sister-in-law and her husband bought the original holiday home and all our family loves it here. My father-in-law became unwell, so they have moved back to England for the moment, but desire that other people be allowed to enjoy this wonderful home as they have done.

Fiona Carter purchased this villa in 2004

Why Fiona Carter chose Gaucín

This, to me and my family, is the most perfect place to be. The balance of the coast, just 45 minutes away, with its glamorous designer shops, beaches and other activities and the contrast of the mountains in the beautiful National Parks gives us the best of all worlds. You can be relatively secluded if you so desire, or partake in the numerous Spanish and other activities that seem to always be going on.

What makes this villa unique

The benefit of our property are the views. There is nothing like waking up in the morning to the clear spring air, with the wild flowers and eagles flying overhead, and the sound of the goat bells tinkling through the mountain side.

The private pool, parking and access to beaches and countryside really do make El Pindolo the perfect place to spend days, weeks or even months and years.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We came away to recover from a sad event in our lives, and by the end of our stay we were relaxed and ready to get back to our farm in Cambridgeshire. Many thanks for all your kindness. Andrew and Hilary

We had a great time in Gaucin and can recommend El Pindolito. Everything was clean and comfortable and we will come again. Great fun! Sarah and Jim, Bath, UK

Thank you for making us so welcome. We spent a happy week in the casita and loved the views from the pool. Richard and Charlotte, Stansted, Essex

Wonderfull villa with billionaire class views.

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful villa and clearly a fabulously cared for home. As part of our holiday in Spain we spent 3 weeks at this villa with friends getting to know the village and the district and sometimes just settling down with the excellent collection of books.

I am sure we will return.

The local management team are to be thanked for the prompt and friendly help they gave one of our friends with a puncture.

No recommendation is complete without mention of the billionaire class views.

Holiday of a lifetime

  • 5 of 5

The villa was out of this world. On top of the mountains with outstanding views. Everything you would need for a good stay was found in the house, I have never had such a collection before. The agents were on hand in case we needed anything. We did not want to leave the place. The locals in Goucin were so friendly everyone greated us as we walked down the streets. I know all your futur tenants will be happy with there choice.

Special interest holidays:

This area is perfect for bird watching and for walking. We can put you in touch with friends who offer walks or you can join the local walking groups who walk for a few hours each week, but not in the height of summer.

There are many artists in Gaucin who are more than willing to show you their paintings, sculptures, photographs etc.

Coast/Beach:

Beaches are 45 minutes away in a car and Ronda is approximately 40 minutes.

Tarifa, the wind surfers' paradise is just over an hour from here.

Travel:

Car hire is, in our opinion, essential, to make the most of this beautiful part of the world. The nearest airport is Gibraltar, approximately one hour by car, whilst Malaga is one and a half hours away but offers more options. Further afield are Jerez Airport and Seville Airport.

Distances:

Ronda is about 40 minutes by car and Granada, Cordoba and Seville are all accessible to visit for the day. Other places of interest are Jerez, to sample the sherry and watch the beautiful horse displays while Casares and Jimena de la Frontera are on the doorstep.

Further Details:

There are plenty of small supermarkets, a butcher, general store, chemist, petrol station, health centre, internet cafe and great places to sit and watch the world go by at tapas bars and restaurants. There is a free tennis court and the large local swimming pool is open in July and August and is worth a visit at a low cost. It has a large grassed area and some shade Ask about local fiestas which take place during the summer season.
