Little Kersham is situated in the picturesque Taw Valley in North Devon. The house is nestled in the small hamlet of Bridge Reeve and close to the River Taw. The house is surrounded by outstanding country and is a cyclist and walkers' paradise with winding woodland paths. Little Kersham is a detached converted barn set within its own mature gardens. The house is very spacious, has been sympathetically converted with wood beams and floors throughout. The property has lovely quiet surroundings however is well positioned to explore this beautiful part of Devon. There is a wealth of high quality tourist attractions with nearby such as Rosemoor, The Big Sheep, The Milky Way, Kilarney Springs and Exmoor Zoo. Dartmoor and Exmoor are within 30 minutes drive.

Home from home

Richard, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful. The cottage is as beautiful as the pictures. We enjoyed walking around the grounds and garden. The cottage was clean and just like home. The home has been developed with love and care. Everything is there ready to go for your convenience. It was warm and cosy, and the addition of a wood-burning fire make the perfect end to a busy day. Would love to come back when the garden s in full bloom. Thanks again for letting us stay at your lovely cottage.

a tranquil gem in glorious devonshire countryside

Little Kershaw is a homely beautifully stylish barn conversion expertly done in an understated classy way. It is set in glorious countryside up a single track road 2 miles from Chulmleigh, a friendly community set high on a hill and which boasts some country pubs, a church, a deli, a small spar shop and 'open to all golf' course. It is a great base from which to explore north and mid devon- e.g the beach at Westwood Ho - don't miss the drive from Lynton to Minehead over Exmoor. There are some lovely country pubs nearby- the globe at Kings Nympton (a 3 mile drive) is a real find- or if you have kids who wish to go-kart then Barnstable (12 miles or so away) is worth a trip. Otherwise just soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the lovely walks. Don't be alarmed by a public footpath that runs alongside one part of the property and which is rarely used (in the week we were there we saw just someone on two separate occasions use it). Lastly in Richard and Vicky Quinn you could not have nicer owners who are available on the phone if need be as is their housekeeper. In summary you would be hard pressed to find a better country retreat in which to enjoy a week etc rest

Lovely, peaceful break

Little Kersham is in an idyllic spot just above the river where the only break in the peace is the dawn chorus! Despite its quiet location, it's very handy for reaching both north and south Devon - by train if preferred. The house itself is very comfortable and excellently equipped for large groups; the Aga makes the kitchen a cosy base but there is also ample room for loafing around in the lounge and a formal dining room if you need it. Plenty of garden to sit out in, too. We had a great time, thank you.

Little Kersham

Richard greeted us at LK after a long journey from the North East of England, providing a quick overview of the house and grounds.

A lovely bottle of red was also waiting for us, which was a lovely gesture.

LK is stocked with everything you could imagine and more! You can just turn up, unpack, relax and enjoy your stay.

The gardens and surrounding area are wonderful and I would highly recommend LK as a holiday destination. Make sure you visit the Thai van that visits the local village once a week, the food is fab. We also enjoyed a wonderful evening meal and several cream tea's at the Fox and Hounds, Eggesford. This is more than a country pub and is completely dog friendly.

If Devon wasn't so far away from where we live, I would visit again tomorrow.

Thought of everything!

This is a beautiful place to stay! It felt like we were staying at a friend's home as we had every home comfort we needed and more. It is beautifully decorated and furnished, very clean, comfortable and peaceful. We liked the fact that we could access a lot of different parts of Devon as it has such a central location - ranging from a 30 minute to 1 hour drive. The owners were helpful and available throughout the process of booking and our stay. A lovely place for a family holiday.

My wife and I bought Little Kersham with the intention of retiring to Devon, but I keep putting the retirement date back!. We are both active walkers and wanted a home that had accessibility to both national parks and the north Devon coastline. We use the house on a monthly basis with our friends and family and have become part of the local community.

Activity and Interests


Saunton, Braunton Burrows, Crow Point, Croyde and Westwood Ho all within 30 minutes drive from the house. The house is also equal 30 minute driving distance from Dartmoor and Exmoor. The house is situated close to the Tarka trail.


2 miles from Eggesford Railway Station.


Village of Chulmleigh 1.5 miles and Barnstaple 20 minutes drive. The city of Exeter is 30 minutes drive.

Further Details:

Chulmleigh is situated close by and has a range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Barnstaple is the nearest town (12 miles) and is reached through the scenic Taw Valley. The town has all the major supermarkets, a pannier market and additionally has a theatre, cinema and leisure facilities. The popular market town of South Molton has a weekly farmers market and a variety of shops, antiques and curio shops.

Booking Notes:
We ask for a non refundable deposit of 25% to secure the booking and the remaining 75% 6 weeks before the start of the holiday. At the time of paying the balance a £150.00 refundable deposit is requested to cover breakages and additional cleaning costs where guests have left the property in poor condition. To date we have not withheld this deposit as the majority have been very responsible and looked after the property. Additional cost of £25 per dog.

Changeover Day:
Guests can arrive from 3pm and leave by 10am. Change over day is a Saturday and outside seasons short breaks are available. There are cheaper rates for last minute bookings if the house is available.
