The cottages and lodges at Wedderburn Castle are set in the Berwickshire countryside, a mile from Duns. All have recently been renovated and now include chic modern bathrooms and kitchens, stylish decor and comfortable sitting rooms with log-burning stoves. Properties include Garden Cottage, a stylish contemporary property for two; Keepers Cottage, a well-appointed cottage for four to six and West Lodge, a recently-rebuilt historic property for six. All properties have been sympathetically restored and retain many charming period features. Keepers Cottage and West Lodge are particularly suitable for family and group holidays, while Garden Cottage provides a romantic getaway and is also suitable for couples with babies or toddlers. Kitchens feature an extensive range of kitchenware, ceramic hobs, microwaves, washing machines, dishwashers and everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Or there are also some great pubs and restaurants in the area if you would rather not cook!

Garden Cottage is a luxurious and romantic hideaway for two adjacent to the former kitchen garden at Wedderburn Castle. A huge stone fireplace with wood-burning stove provides the focal point for the sitting room and the bright kitchen has French doors looking out across a spacious private lawn to the front. The floorboards that now add to the warm, atmospheric feel of the cottage were all cut from a single ancient ash tree that grew beside the castle and fell in a storm. The spacious bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed. A full-length window offers views of the the castle and the surrounding countryside from the bedroom. The stylish bathroom has a large bath and luxurious L'Occitane toiletries. French doors lead from the well-equipped kitchen into a private walled garden and patio area which has garden furniture for relaxing outside. The cottage is perfect for couples on a romantic break. A travel cot, high chair and z-bed are available on request. Complimentary Wi-Fi.

Berwickshire is an ideal location to explore the best of the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland. It is also just an hour from Edinburgh. Our properties are easily accessed from Berwick-upon-Tweed station which is on the East Coast mainline and around three and a half hours from London and 40 minutes from Edinburgh by train. The closest airports are Edinburgh and Newcastle which are both around 90 minutes drive.

The most popular local beach is Coldingham Bay. This Blue Flag beach and outstanding beauty spot is around 20 minutes drive from Wedderburn and has received numerous awards. While visiting Coldingham it is worth investigating the picturesque walks to Eyemouth and St Abbs Head.

Other beaches closeby include the bay at the small fishing village of Eyemouth - visit Giacopazzis for ice cream and fish and chips.

Spittal beach by Berwick-upon-Tweed also offers big sands and amusements.


Plane: Edinburgh Airport is around an hour's drive away. Newcastle Airport is just over an hour away.

Train: The closest station is Berwick-upon-Tweed which is on the East Coast mainline, with regular trains from London. The cottages are a 20 minute taxi ride away or car rental is available in Berwick through East Coast Rentals.

The closest village is one and a half miles away. There are many sites of historical interest, sporting activities etc within easy driving distance of the properties.

Further Details:

The village of Duns is a pretty market town with a good selection of shops including a delicatessen, butcher, baker, gift shops and cafes. There is a bank and post office in the town and a small supermarket which provides a good variety of essentials.

A great location for holidays for children. You are welcome to explore and play in the grounds surrounding Wedderburn Castle and the driveways are quiet and nice for walks and bikes. There is a soft-play area close to the end of the drive at Wedderburn Castle and there is a golf driving range at the same location. Children are welcome to explore the grounds and play in the woodland and parkland at Wedderburn. There is also a swimming pool, play parks and tennis courts in the village of Duns.

Our properties combine the traditional features of the buildings with newly-renovated interiors. They are furnished in a contemporary style, but with country-cottage elements such as dressed stone fireplaces, wooden floorboards made from trees on the Wedderburn estate that have fallen in storms and log-burning stoves. Kitchens are fully-equipped to allow for everything you might have at home; bathrooms offer 24-hour hot water, fluffy towels and luxurious L'Occitane toiletries. Wide-screen televisions and comfortable sofas provide relaxing living areas. The properties all have gardens and are surrounded by mature parkland which allows for rural walks. There are a host of attractions around, ranging from golf to children's soft play, swimming pools and beaches.
