Our cottage is furnished to a very high standard and kept spotlessly clean. We have quality appliances including dishwasher, washing machine and 40inch Sony LCD Television. There is a large patio to the rear with table and seating for 6 and also an enclosed private deck area with sun loungers, overlooking open countryside and the River Porter. Full central heating with underfloor heating downstairs. We also have Free WiFi. New this year we have installed a wood fired Pizza Oven.

About the Owner
Gillian and I converted Midhope Lodge ourselves from farm buildings. It took us 7 years working full time and without any help other than a plasterer. Because we worked on the barn ourselves we had time to get to know the buildings and change our plans as we went along making this a fabulous building and grounds. Midhope Lodge is split into 2, we live in one half and the other half, which is totally separate, is rented out for holiday accommodation.

Great place, friendly host, really easy to get to, close to both civilasation and the hills. an ideal starting point for many a country walk and comfortable enough to just sit and while awy the hours should you want to. Spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. can't recoomend enough to people. Already told all my friends!
I was welcomed by the friendly owners upon arrival and they were very amenable as it was my husbands surprise 40th birthday weekend. We were welcomed with a bottle of bubbly and cakes which was lovely. The cottage was of an excellent high standard and everything worked fully and a lot of items were provided such as hand soap, cleaner, logs, towels, bedding etc which was great. Nearby was a reservoir with a great walk around it. It was tipping down with rain but we had a great time and then came back to a log fire which was very cosy. There was plenty of parking which was good as we had a few friends and family coming and going over the weekend. The sheep was great

An amazing house in a great location with beautiful scenery. We had a lovely time and Andrew was very accommodating. The only thing which could have made it better would be having the kitchen and bathroom stocked with some basics like oil, sugar, salt, pepper, hand wash etc. We will definitely consider staying here again!

Beautiful barn conversion with on site parking! The ideal base to explore the Peak District!
Everything was perfectly fine. No complaints and had a most enjoyable weekend. Didn't need to go and get anything, apart from food and drink, as everything was in the barn. Lovely decking outside and lovely view.
Lovely cottage, lots of space and beautifully done out. Everything we required and super friendly owners. We were able to stay the days we needed and weren't forced into the usual Saturday to Saturday routine. Will definitely be going back next year.

“Midhopestones is a small village on the edge of the Peak Park with the river Porter running through. During the summer there is well dressing at the village well. Our only pub is call "ye Olde Mustard Pot" and has a restaurant. The village is almost surrounded by moors and reservoirs with marked paths and trails for walking and cycling. Just a short drive away you can find places to visit including National mining museum (take a trip underground - free), Holmfirth (famous for the TV Series "Last of the Summer Wine"), Ladybower and Derwent Dams (WW2 Dambusters), Magna (Huge Steel works museum), Kelham Island Musem just to mention a few. Once a year we hold a charity Country Fayre see.”

The area around Midhopestones is noted for walking with many marked trails and footpaths some around the local reservoirs. For a more demanding walk there are miles of moors and valleys with stunning views all year round.
We are on the edge of the Peak District National Park and within easy reach of Bakewell, Buxton, Chatsworth, Matlock and many other quaint villages.
Nearest coastal resort is Cleethorpes - approx 1hr 40min
