About the Owner

I'm Katia and I'm the hostess of CASA DI PAN a wonderful Farmhouse located at only 2 steps from the historic centre of the delightful medieval village Panicale, on the Lake Trasimeno. The owners asked me to be your host and help you during your holiday here. It is for me a wonderful pleasure to welcome guests from every part of the world, introduce them to my area and let them know our traditions and culture. Guests are always happy to visit my wonderful area and to discover the little villages all around, but also they appreciate the services of the Villa and its beautiful location. People here are friendly and nice. All guests seem to be home!

Just like the pictures!

We were a group of 3 couples, 1 single and a family with a toddler. The villa was perfect for us, having more than enough bedrooms (8) and a bathroom for each family (8). There was a huge open living area downstairs and a large living room upstairs as well. Upstairs was a TV and CD player. Wifi was good upstairs, but a bit patchy downstairs. We were invited to move it if we wanted, but we didn't bother. It might have been good to have the CD downstairs (or a second one) for a little background music while we dined and socialised downstairs. The villa was well presented, all the linen and pool towels we needed were provided, there was plenty of crockery, cutlery and nice glassware. There were sufficient pots and pans for us to cook for ourselves a few nights. There was also, thankfully, a dishwasher! The pool was crystal clear but quite chilly (early Sept). The gardens were maintained, but understandably dry after the long, hot summer. There were some herbs i

First off the pictures do not do it justice. When we arrived with my family of 10 people they were all astonished of the grounds and the beauty. We just had sold our home down the road in Paciano and no the area well. So we were looking for something close by to this location. In all my years I would pass by the horse farm but never did see this villa.. It is so perfectly secluded but close to everything. So we meet Katia down the road at the town of Paciano and she brings us to the villa. First off Katia is TOP NOTCH when it comes to SERVICE and attentiveness. I probably would not have sold my home if I had someone like Katia to look after it and manage. The best!!!

So back to the Villa.. The grounds are laced with all kinds of fruit trees, Herbs,etc.. The rosemary and lavender bushes were huge and were great to cut and put in the rooms for fresh scents. The main house which is the meeting area is great for all to gather. Nice ambience and space. The big table fits 10-12 comfortable. The kitchen was great BUT could use some better cookware and knives. The pizza oven we never got to use.

Katia left us with fresh fruit, great wine that is made their on the premise with the grapes of the villa, and some treats in the fridge. Each bedroom was an independent suite with its own full bath. ALL VERY NICELY appointed and new! Each room had great wifi and lighting. The rooms were on all sides of the house and it was fun to see which one each would pick depending on views and sunsets. The grass and overall grounds to relax were immaculate and well maintained. We loved being out late at night drinking wine under the stars or going down to the pool area.. There is literally NOTHING bad to say about our stay here.. I travel the world and live in hotels, homes and b&b's .. This villa is top notch along with top notch service and care. We will be staying there next year and just looking to nail down the dates we are going.. BRAVO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the Owner

Panicale and Paciano are typicals and very beautiful medievals Umbrian hilltop town. Time has absolutely stood still in this village. One can still see signs of a former lifestyle -- cannon turrets, alcoves near the two historic center entrances where night watchmen once stood, ancient cobblestone streets and antique, operable water fountains. Panicale boasts four wonderful restaurants, two cafes (cafe/bar), and a small grocery store selling everything from fresh produce, cold cuts, cheeses and wine to toiletries and common household supplies. There is the butcher will gladly make you make sausages while you wait, and down the street is a bakery, where fresh bread, pastry and a variety of pizza await you at 6 am. The town barber will give you a hair cut and a shave, or if you want to catch up with the latest gossip, drop by the hairdresser. The famous 'little' theater, Teatro Carporali, hosts well publicized cultural events, but the most fun is had in the main piazza on weekend nights when free, live entertainment performs as you sip local wine or a capuccino. Panicale also has a tourist information office, a real estate agency, a pottery shop, a drug store, a stationary/internet point selling foreign newspapers and magazines, a post office and a bank/ATM. Minutes away by car is a full service spa where you can have a manicure, beauty treatment or massage. Panicale is home to 500 full-time residents. During the summer months this number grows to about 800. The town is within short driving distance to Perugia, Orvieto, Montepulciano, Assisi, Cortona, Todi, Deruta, Siena and other well known towns worth visiting. All have so much to offer in terms of cuisine, art and culture and all guests LOVE to return as often as they can. Panicale is situated on the Umbria/Tuscany border, boasting the unsurpassed natural beauty of local vineyards, endless sunflower fields and olives groves an

Distances:

Villa GLI OLIVI is centrally located near the Lake Trasimeno, 1.5 hours north of Rome, a little over an hour south of Florence, 45 minutes from Siena, 20 minutes from Montepulciano and Perugia and in easy reach of numerous other beautiful Tuscan towns. The property is just a few minutes from Chiusi, where the main train station for Rome – Florence train line.

There are many, many famous and notable towns within a 1-hour drive,Cortona, Montepulciano, Perugia, Orvieto, Todi, Siena, Assisi.

Further Details:

The area is rich in archaeological wonders from the Etruscan, Medieval, Roman, and Renaissance eras. During the summer, Panicale and the surrounding villages host numerous activities including festivals, art exhibitions, antique markets, theatrical plays and free outdoor jazz, blues, pop and classical concerts.

Outdoor cafes, bars, quaint shops, and friendly people make Panicale a wonderful and atmospheric place to while away an evening or late morning. Many temporary locals (our guests from abroad) adapt the seductive Italian lifestyle quickly and with alacrity: picking a local bar as their own and visiting it every morning for a cappuccino and cornetto (pastry) and every evening for an apertivo before dinner, catching up on the local news and people watching. You will be welcomed into the community swiftly and made to feel at home.

And don't forget the food and wine! Several world-renowned restaurants make Panicale a dining experience not to be missed. Or, book our Italian grandmother to spoil you with a home-cooked meal that you will remember for decades or a cooking lesson so that you can take home and replicate some of her recipes. Nearby VILLA GLI OLIVI are at least a half dozen "hidden gems" -- wineries whose limited production and high quality make them a local open secret. Most of their wine is consumed by the knowledgeable locals, so is little known outside the region and the province.

Lake Trasimeno is Italy's fourth largest lake, and is only a 7 minute drive. It offers excellent watersports, excursions and lakeside towns with good fish restaurants.
