About the property

4 bedroom, 2 shower room - tranquil location, stunning views

This spacious farmhouse, affectionately named ‘Les Lauriers’ (the bay trees) is full of traditional Provençal character. The property is set on a substantial secluded plot of 4000 sq metre. It is situated on a hilltop, facing south. The grounds have a host of local vegetation, including olive trees, a fig tree and a pomegranate tree, as well as a few vines and pear trees. Rosemary and thyme grow around the property in abundance and there are 5 large bay trees providing shade over the terrace, which give the property its name. The upstairs is divided into two totally separate areas, accessed by separate stairways, and is therefore ideal for a group of friends or two families staying together. It has a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and a microwave to make your stay more comfortable. There is a TV offering satellite and English language channels, a DVD library and WIFI.

About Alison Shelley

We are four friends who own Les Lauriers together. 3 of us are Irish and one English. We are all self-employed, involved in teaching, training and consultancy. One couple lives in County Clare, Ireland and the other lives in London.

Alison Shelley purchased this farmhouse in 2004

Why Alison Shelley chose Lorgues

We all fell in love with Provence from holidaying in the area over a number of years. When we first came to Lorgues we immediately fell in love with the area and decided to fulfill a long-term dream and buy here. We were fortunate enough to find the perfect house, Les Lauriers, during our first holiday in Lorgues.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The views from the house and particularly the pool were what captured our imagination first. We wanted a place which offered some of the unique benefits of Provence - the light and the feeling of space. These stunning views would be difficult to match elsewhere and this, coupled with the layout of the house which has two separate staircases and suits two families so well, were what made Les Lauriers such a perfect property for us.

Charming farmhouse with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

The farmhouse is set in beautiful grounds on top of a hill with a terrace where you can soak up the superb views and relax with a glass of wine. If you can tear yourself away from the view, the inside of the farmhouse is comfortable and lovely and cool. The upstairs is split into different areas with two staircases - lots of nooks and crannies for the kids to explore. It is clean and has everything that you need for a family holiday.

The pool has plenty of sunbeds and a mixture of shade and sun making it a perfect place to while away the hours while the kids are in the pool. The view over the valley from the pool makes it feel almost as if it's an infinity pool.

It was our first time visiting this area of France and I absolutely loved it. Lorgues itself is a delightful French village with a fabulous market - well worth a visit. We found great activities for the kids in the surrounding area - when we managed to get them out of the pool! A fabulous holiday.

great family or group holiday location

  • 5 of 5

This holiday cottage ticked all the boxes. The cottage is a very private property perched on a hill with a magnificent view and very typically French. The cottage is well maintained and equipped and yet exudes an ambiance of home from home.

There are lovely walks locally through the valley and yet you are close to Lorgues town which was great for market, shopping and any excuse to stop for a delicious glass of wine.

There was plenty to do and see locally and also in neighbouring villages. The pool on the property is difficult to leave. There is a great choice of restaurants to experience the French cuisine.

Can't recommend this property highly enough.

A view to make your heart sing

  • 4 of 5

a lovely traditional farmhouse that was well positioned for a short drive into Lorgues. It is on the quieter side of town which suited us well. The pool is a great size and we spent many happy hours enjoying the water, the sun and the truly beautiful views. There are so many lovely villages to explore locally and we certainly made the most of Lorgues, particularly on market day. We enjoyed the caves and gardens at Villecroze and the panoramic vistas from the village in the sky, Tourtour.

The farmhouse offered us a great base, it was well equipped and clean.

We were a family of 6, the youngest being 5. it is worth noting that the bedrooms are split on 2 staircases and the steps are probably not ideal for a toddler.

The pool is separated from the house and we were advised to lock the doors when we were all at the pool- this was a shame but did not upset our holiday!

Overall, we all had a lovely holiday in a beautiful farmhouse with fabulous views.

Peaceful stay in Lorgues

  • 3 of 5

We had a very peaceful stay last August in Lorgues. The house is situated at 5 minutes east by car from Lorgues town center. It is a very charming house surrounded by nature (neighbour houses remain hidden). Inside, the house is split into 2 parts. Equipments are quite oldish but remain functional. No air conditionning. Barbecue much appreciated. The swimming pool is quite big and allows proper swimming. However there is no fence for children protection. Be sure to prepare your arrival as the indications are very limited and your car can be stuck in some dust narrow roads.

Alison has proven to be helpful in sorting the different needs we had and Olivia, the house keeper is very welcoming.
