Stunning Traditional Farm Cottage Surrounded By Hills And A Stream

Overview

Property

Updated: 24-Oct-2016
Cottage in Cwm-Llinau, Nr. Machynlleth, Powys, Wales - The Perfect Place For Relaxing And Unwinding Or More Adventurous Activities

Bryn Uchel Uchaf is a traditional farm cottage dating back to the 1700s and has been recently renovated to a high standard including solid wooden floors, two wood burners and an inglenook fireplace. The cottage has 3 bedrooms and sleeps six comfortably (there is capacity for more with improvised beds or camping). The cottage nestles in the hills above the beautiful Dyfi valley and beside a mountain stream. The area is rural, safe and peaceful, the only sounds are of birdsong, the mountain stream and the occasional bleating of sheep on the hills behind the cottage. Ideally located on the edge of Snowdonia and within easy reach of the beautiful West Wales coast beaches, there are many options in addition to simply relaxing by the fires.

We had the MOST amazing stay at the cottage! From the gorgeousness of the cottage to the beautiful surroundings! We had a truly relaxing adventure! We have 3 small children and they loved being outdoors so much - from watching the farmer bring his sheep down off the mountain, to trekking up the stream, to having a picnic down by the river; and then back to the cottage for a real fire and a hot chocolate! It was the perfect holiday! The cottage has been furnished beautifully yet retains it's cottage characteristics! We would highly recommend a visit!

I have spent the last two New Years celebrating in the cottage, one before and one after the renovations. Both times we had an excellent time, the cottage is so cosy with the real fires and comfy sofas and the renovations have just made it extra special! Would highly recommend!

Fantastic cottage

We had a wonderful three nights at this cottage. Good communication with the owners, exceptional bed, clean and well equipped. The outside fire pit was an added bonus and the scenery was stunning. Thank you for a wonderful weekend we will definitely be back. Regards Heather and Peter Bleasdale

peaceful retreat

  • 4 of 5

As a family we have been visiting the mid-wales area around machynllth for many years and love the breathtaking views and countryside walks and activities.

This cottage provided us with a lovely quiet location, remote and tranquil. The cottage had good size rooms, fire in lounge and bathroom that was fairly new. We found the cottage welcoming and warm with the added bonus of central heating as it can get cold during may in evenings. The cottage has lots of character and we found well equipt with essentials such as cooker, fridge, cooking equipment and local information. Not suitable for young children in our opinion.

Car parking outside, friendly farm next door and an opportunity to walk up mountains on our doorstep; listening to owls and the cries of red kites.

Location

From the Owner

Bryn Uchel Uchaf has been in the family for over 40 years and has countless happy memories. We took on the cottage when we got married and went about renovating it, taking it right back to basics and both updating in terms of comforts but also rediscovering hidden character. The immediate area is so peaceful and away from things, you can't help but unwind as the natural rhythm of life there kicks in. Sometimes we don't venture away from the immediate hillside and cottage area. However there's plenty of adventurous and scenic activities nearby and especially good for families and outdoorsy types. A particular favourite is Aberdyfi beach.

Facilities

From the Owner

Bryn Uchel Uchaf is so away from things and feels like you enter another world in many ways. However, it is only 15 minutes from Machynlleth and very close to several attractions and beaches. I think it's the space and freedom you get here that is so unique.
