The Cottage is set in a picturesque ancient landscape that Includes Frenchman's Creek & 13 Different Beaches A Short Drive Away

Caervallack Garden Cottage was rebuilt in 2010 to the highest standard using locally sourced cob, earth plasters and beautiful detailing such as the unique windows and oak woodwork. The cottage has an exceptionally tranquil atmosphere, nestled in its walled garden with thatched well house (1000 years old) and mature 3/4 acre gardens to look at from your private patio. Its a Sanctuary where you can shed the concerns of your otherwise hectic life. Local shops include Kernowsuishimi (fresh locally caught fish) and Gear farm organic pasties, both 5 minutes walk away and three excellent restaurant/pubs 8 minutes drive away- Trelowarren restaurant, the Ship Inn & the Prince of Wales. Walking direct from the front door is superb in four different directions and there are 11 different beaches 10 minutes drive away. St.Ives is a short drive North. Facilities include : cooker , fridge, ceramic sink, beech kitchen ,TV, Central heating, Wifi , Queen size double bed & clothes storage & en suite shower.

About Mathew Robinson

Louise and I have lived at Caervallack since we were married in 1995 and have two teenage sons. I work as an niche Architect, designing contemporary buildings in Ancient materials (such as Oak frames or cob(earth walls) of which the Garden Cottage is an example. My wife is a full time Painter-artist, taking inspiration from the beautiful area in which we live . Together we have created the large garden which the Cottage has exclusive access to - Louise the plants and Matt the buildings,walls and hard landscaping.

Why Mathew Robinson chose Lizard Peninsula

We were lucky enough to find our Dream House, an unspoilt Grade II listed building which needed lots of work. The area is particularly beautiful and full of mature trees, unusual for West Cornwall.

What makes this cottage unique

The Cottage is in Ancient land ,and is first mentioned in a legal dispute over Tithes in 1273. We are told is has an exceptional atmosphere, complimented by the contemporary garden which is all yours to enjoy :a modern twist to an ancient theme.

There are fantastic walks right out the front gate to Frenchmans creek, the Helford river and through mature woodland.

Food is very close at hand too: organic pasties & fresh landed fish are both 5 minutes walk away, while there are three excellent restaurants within 8 minutes drive.

There are 9 coves and beeches within 15minutes drive.

We had a fantastic week in this brilliant cottage. We love the design and we're sorry to leave. Its a great location for all the things we wanted to do : Heligan, Eden, Frencman's creek etc. The garden is astonishing.



We've had such a lovely, peaceful week. Long walks , lovely food & such a beautiful cottage & garden to come home to.



We shall be spreading the word about this very special place! The garden is a delight providing a surprise and somewhere to sit & reflect at every turn. The cottage is a lovely retreat from our busy lives - the silence and peace have been so much appreciated.

Notes on accommodation: There is a staircase between the bedroom and downstairs of 9 treads - its a generous staircase. The property is historic and has a clear headroom downstairs of 6'4" (190cm) . I'm afraid we don't accept pets , and the property is not suitable for children. Outside: Outside the cottage is a South east facing patio with woven chairs and table. This looks down the 3/4 acre walled garden that is divided into 7 different garden "rooms" where Guests are encouraged to relax in their own privacy. Over the 54ft. bridge at the bottom of the garden is a shared garden space featuring 5-sided meditation studio and trampoline for the adventurous. Utility Room: None but if you would like to use our washing machine please ask. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Finest "White Company" linen & towels are provided . The cottage is cleaned every week or before a guest arrives , whichever comes first . If people stay for two weeks, we change linen & towels after 1 week and do a limited vacuum session. Other: Storage under the stairs for bags etc.

cottage is set in beautiful surroundings in a secluded part of cornwall.it was an excellent base for visiting southern cornwall and giving a peaceful retreat at the end of the day.cottage is small but well appointed with nice personal touches and a welcome pack from the owners who were friendly and approachable.really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely space in a charming location - quiet and private with access to beautiful country walks

Although the weather was not so perfect I had a lovely stay at Matt and Louise's charming cottage. It is private although attached to the house and has access to the beautiful garden. It is a well thought out interior that is very cosy and has a super comfortable bed. Many thanks for an enjoyable break.

Amazing

This was the perfect place for our honeymoon. The cottage is special and the gardens unique. Mat and Jane are perfect hosts and made our stay one to remember. Highly recommended for a Cornish getaway.

Idyllic holiday in beautiful countryside settings

Comfortable and well appointed cottage which was ideal for our short break. The rural setting was a delight and the owners have created a lovely garden setting which we were free to explore. The peace and tranquility was much appreciated and helped us to relax.

The owners made us feel very welcome with nice touches such as fresh flowers and treats in the fridge! These were very much appreciated after a long journey. Having a car was very useful and there was plenty of parking at the cottage. We were able to walk out along country lanes to visit local pubs and had some delicious meals.

We came home feeling relaxed and having benefited from our enjoyable stay.

Thanks to Matt and Louise for sharing their lovely part of the world with us.

Wonderful retreat

The cottage was everything it promised and more. Lovely flowers cut from the garden and great treats in fridge on arrival. Matt and Louise are great hosts, chilled and hands-off but very helpful with recommendations etc. Explored walks around cottage and river: a gorgeous area for relaxing. Great pubs and eateries close by, Penzance, Porthcurno/Minack and Lamorna an easy drive. Then back to the beautiful, inspirational garden. A fantastic week, if only we could have stayed much longer.

Coast/Beach:

The three most frequented beaches are Church Cove & Poldhu Cove (National Trust, both facing West) or St. Anthony Head, Manaccan (Esturary facing East) ,all 10 minutes drive away. Other coves 15 mintues drive away on the Lizard include Coverack, Cadgwith, Kynance, Mullion & Kennack Sands. The Helford River (tidal estuary) is 40 minutes walk away.

Travel:

The easiest way to get here is by car.

We have had visitors without cars to our cottage, getting the Train to Redruth Station, bus from Redruth station to Helston and then taxi the final 5 miles. Another alternative is to hire a car inexpensively from mymotorsredruth.co.uk once you get off the train at Redruth.

Newquay airport is 75 minutes away : you can hire a car from the airport there.
