What a stunning location-a comfortable, well equipped house with uninterrupted views to sea and the coast path on your doorstep. The views from the conservatory and bedroom make this place worth a visit whatever the weather. We could have stayed a lot longer

Beautiful views, lovely cottage.

Another lovely break in this fantastic place. The uninterrupted views and location, overlooking the entrance to Solva Harbour are hard to beat, which is why we keep returning. The cottage is comfortable and homely, LOVING the new kitchen! The dishwasher was an added bonus. Plenty to do in Solva with great places to eat - would recommend Cafe 35 down on the harbour and The Cambrian. Both are dog friendly, although only lunchtimes at The Cambrian. The coastal path is on the doorstep, with lovely walks to St Davids or Newgale. In summary, a wonderful place to stay :)

WOW!! If you love a sea view and a real fire, this is the place for you. The photographs do not do it justice. The kitchen has been upgraded to a high standard. The bungalow is very well equipped and very clean. The neighbours are lovely. This place is sheer heaven. I had the most fantastic stay and intend to return. Totally recommended.

When we opened the door and took in the view from the conservatory, our jaws dropped. It was lovely. For three nights we ate out and then thought WHY? We cooked our own meal (steak etc ) and ate in whilst taking in the beautiful vista. You'd pay a lot for a similar location in a hotel.. We really enjoyed ourselves. The coastal path was just a VERY short walk away. I don't know if we will return,... but I know we want to and probably will. Thanks Chris.

Beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Pleasantly suprised when we arrived, lovely views over St Brides Bay. Very homely cottage, loved sitting in conservatory looking out over the bay and watching the horses and walkers. Very comfortable beds and everything was in working order. Solva Harbour was great and the local pubs and restuarants served good quality food at reasonable prices. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to book another holiday in future.

Stroud, Gloucestershire

Literally South winds!!

First requirement dog friendly - certainly was, with plenty of nearby walks.

Open fire - GREAT it draws very well and made the living area very cosy.

Sea views - wonderful views.

Warm and clean when we arrived. with comfy beds are a good bathroom.

Small fridge with icebox was a bit small for four people over Christmas. Somewhere outside to store things would have been useful - anything loose outside was blown away!!

Older style cooker, but the rings work well and the fan oven produced a very well cooked Beef wellington.

A kitchen extractor would be good for winter to keep the steam down.

The conservatory is well built - the GALES we experienced almost lifted it off the foundations and dropped it in the sea, but NO it stayed there flexing and moving in the high winds and emitting fearful noises. Yes, it was exciting and a bit nerve wracking. The wind and rain (and hail) we terrific and overall we loved it. The views of the wild sea were wonderful.

Lower Solva - The Cambrian was very good for a meal and the pub on the harbour was a good drinking hole - both very acceptable and only a short walk away.

The Bay Stores a short walk on the road to St David's was very well stocked, very helpful and an asset to any community.

Would I recommend it - YES

Would I go back there - YES

Thank you Southwinds for a memorable Christmas 2013 - even though we had to avoid the coastal path sometimes as it was too dangerous in the gales!!

That view.....

I have to confess I wasn't expecting to fall in love with this property in this location as much as I did. It is exactly as described in the listing and yet still surprised me. The use of the conservatory to eat and sit in, makes the most of that stunning view. I could have sat and looked at the sea for hours if 2 small boys had let me! Solva is a lovely little fishing village with a surprising selection of good pubs and cafe's. Had some beautiful meals in beautiful locations. If you could be certain of good weather I would never go anywhere else!

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

The Pembrokshire national park is a great area to explore.

No other county in Britain having more Blue flag beaches or seaside award beaches. a superb area with varied wildlife charming towns and villages along the coast and the many islands such as Skomer and Ramsey are popular destinations for local boat trips.

A great area for walking, cycling, being on the Sustrans route 4 and there are lots of quiet lanes, and swimming , surfing, sailing and canoeing and many more. Boats trips and other water activities such as canoeing can be arranged in St David’s.

Solva has a number of excellent pubs and restaurants which are easily reached on foot from Southwinds.

Solva is situated on the West Wales coast 4miles from St David’s and it's mediaeval cathedral. It is an ideal place to walk being on the Pembrokeshire long distance coast path with it's ever changing seascape. There are also lots of paths through the village and surrounding area. There is a coastal bus service which operates all year round (check times before setting out) making it possible, with some planning, to leave the car behind.

Solva is a pretty coastal village in the wonderful Pembrokeshire National Park. It is about a approximately a 2 1/2 hr drive from Cardiff. Take the M4 to Carmarthen, then A487 towards St David’s.

The nearest train station is at Haverfordwest.
